Even though you said yes over the phone you are not obligated to take the magazines.  Just send them right back because you can cancel anything.  I don't know why people get so intimidated by these people.

They called my busy office 4 times in a 5 hour window... and then became disrespectful when I asked them to remove our number from their list and not call again. Very unprofessional.

My husband (fiancee at the time) was contacted at work by this company and was asked if he would like to

purchase magazines at a discounted price. He then met with a salesrep while at work and purchased a few

subscriptions. What a mistake! We never received any magazines, just bills so he called to cancel and was

told that he could not do so. What company does not allow you to cancel, even if you have to pay some sort

of cancellation fee? But here we were and we hadn't even received ANYTHING! We quickly realized that this

was a scam and decided they would not be getting a dime from us. Then the harrassing phone calls began.

We would be called and screamed at, called "stupid" as well as a number of profanities and threatened with

legal action. Then we got phone calls from someone alleging to work for a law office representing 716

Services but the number they gave connected you with the same automated menu that you get when you

call 716 Services, interesting. We contacted the NYS Attorney General and were advised to submit a report

to them as well as a "Cease Communications" letter to 716 Services. We did both of these things. 716

Services began calling my cell phone and when I asked them how they got the number they told me my

fiancee had given it to them (yeah, right!). I told them to NEVER call my number again and the woman

screamed at me, at work, on MY phone. Almost a year later, my (now) husband and I were returning from a

family vacation, boarding the plane, when he received a phone call from a man whosaid he was an

investigator...couldn't tell us of what...and that he saw that we were on vacation and even knew what state

we were in. SCARY! We called him out and hung up the phone. Then in response to our letter to the attorney

general we received a "contract" that my husband apparently signed agreeing to all this nonsense. The

contract was a photocopy and very obviously cut and pasted from what my husband put his name on and

where he provided his email address. It also had a spot where THEY had written in what magazines he was

requesting, not in his handwriting and not the magazines he would EVER order (my husband is not the

typically "sporty" guy, he would never order "Field and Stream"!) The signature was also forged. Since then

my husband has received phone calls at work, phone calls to his boss, and a letter to his boss requesting that

his wages be garnished. Luckily his boss knows better! We are at our wits end. The latest happened just last

month (this all began over three years ago!) when my husband received yet another phone call at work from

the "investigator" telling him that he had missed his court date. He just laughed, again told him to stop

calling, and hung up but we don't know what else to do. This is HARRASSMENT especially when three years

ago we sent them the Cease Communications letter as advised by the state attorney general's office. I just

hope someone out there realizes that these people need to be stopped and helps out those of us who were

unfortunate enough to be scammed and harrassed by them.

I was contacted at my place of empolyment by a persom claiming that I could get magazines for free all I had

to do was pass them on when I was finished. I fell for it and said that was fine. Then I was transferred to a

manager to verify that information. She went so fast and it was hard to understand what she was saying.

A few days later, a man showed up at my work and asked to see me. When he got to me, he said he needed a

check for $26.00 to cover the cost of shipping the first shipment out an that I would need to pay an

additonal amoun of $36.00 after that and that this was a processig fee.

After he left, I immediatly contacted the company (716 Services) and cancelled the "subscription". After

being told that they were cancelling that, I then called my bank because I had given this guy a check. I also

told them that I would be cancelling the check since I was cancelling the servies. She said it was ok. And then

she thanked me for my time and apologized that I was not happy and we hung up. I want to say her name

    was Roslie. She wsounded foreign.

Anyhow, ever since this, I have been harassed at work by a pretty rude employee named Jessica. She is very

rude on the phone. One day in a matter of 10 minutes, she called my place of employment 15 times. I have

since been talked to about this. I have told her not to call and she still does.

Yesterday in the mail I got a letter stating that they are going to sue me for $754.00 plus court costs, legal

fees, late fees, and disbursements if I don't pay the arreage of $107.90.

Heads up people, these guys are rude, relentless, and just down right need a life. I hope that an attorney

decides to pick this up and sue them for all the hard times they are causing.

I had a very similar experience where a person called me saying he was with (my state of residence) as an

investigator wtih the courts.  He said that I was being held on 2 felony charges, and that I had a court date in

one week from the date of the phone call.  They had contacted me several times with attemts to "collect" on

money owed.  They did not fulfill their obligation to me.  He threatened that I could be jailed for 8 years, but

because of the obsurdity of the claims, he would throw it out.  All I had to do was pay for merchandise

received and a large processing fee.  I called the company and verified that he did work for them and not the

state court system.  They scammed me into paying a lot of money towards this supposed debt.  I follow up

with an attorney who said that this is not an actual company, and that there is nothing to pursue.  The

comany broke many laws, not just FDCPA laws, and there would be a case if there was someone or

something to go after, but there is not.  There are a lot of complaints on the internet about this company.  I

cannot believe that they can keep operating in this capacity and nobody is able to shut them down.  They

have most likely ripped off thousands of honest consumers while they earn a good living doing illegal

    activities.

Phone Number Report: This scumbag who represented himself as an "Investigator" first for the State of NY, then just as an Investigator, but an Officer of the Court, said I owed them debt which, hilariously is something I paid in full almost 2 years ago. His name was Joseph Staffer, which is probably made up, and he claimed failure to appear and Federal Mail Fraud charges. These are lies perpetrated by paid liars that don't even have current or legitimate information. They are breaking Laws by impersonating officers of courts or law enforcement officials. A simple visit to the FTC website shows they're being investigated for fraudulent & erroneous debt collection & illegal collection practices. Do Not be Conned by them into paying them any money, they should be Exterminated with Extreme Prejudice for the slander & libel and lies they are perpetrating. File a complaint on them, report them to your State AG, go the full length as Scumbags such as these think they'll get away with it as long as they think individuals won't fight back. Since I spoke to this Clown, naturally they haven't called back but I'm sure their just gonna wait little while and try again, at which time it's only a matter of time before they slip and there'll be more info to hang out here about them.

I'm glad you think you can defend being a zit on the butt of society, you people are like the worst scumbags, taking advantage of people, using "trick" and intimidation to try to sell people stuff they don't want, repeat DON'T WANT!!!! Telemarketers are so embarrassed by their jobs they never tell people what their jobs are. You are like wrecker drivers, re[o people, and other lowlifes sucking off the teat of society. Get a real job that gets you off your butt and pays as well as mine, lowlife. And it has nothing to do with the "value" of 5 mags for $13.00 and everything to do with how you go about selling this crud.

Legitimate businesses have a legitimate phone number people can call--that eliminates you as a legitimate business since your phone number cannot be reached or answered, you are a scam

I accepted and purchased mags with 716 Services and have actually been very pleased.  I do have to say though, that it is a different phone number to which I call when I make my payment each month.  The people I speak with are always very friendly and professional.  It appears to me that there is a group of morons imitating the actual company and causing all these problems.  I receive all my mags that I chose and actually enjoy this offer.  While everyone here has legitimate reasons to be ticked off; please don't let these hooligans impersonating the actual company tarnish your perspective of the real deal.  I wish everyone the Best of Luck getting rid of the harrassing jerks.

My girlfriend has been receiving harassing calls from seven-one-six services since last year. We agreed to 4 magazines for our kids and for us as well and paid the $26.00 that was requested for the subscriptions. We were never advised that it would be a 5 year subscription. The magazines came for two months then they stopped so we figured we were done with them..... WRONG... Then the harassing phone calls started coming in. A woman started calling I can't remember her name but it was probably fake anyway. She stated that she was from 2430 Lawfirm and calling regarding a "personal" matter and stating she could not speak to anyone other than my girlfriend regarding the issue.... She was on the phone with me and my girlfriend verbally consented to her speaking to me because I was sick of the BS and the woman still refused.

This woman has contacted my girlfriend at work, on her cell, on our home phone and is threatening legal action I have told her more than once she has no basis and that we will not be paying for services that have not been rendered. Now someone today called said his name was Karl and was a police investigator looking for my girlfriend. I advised that I am able to speak for her on whatever matter he wanted or needed to discuss with her and asked what it was about.... His response was " That is an illegal question and unless you want to be charged you won't ask it again"!!! Now I am in school for criminal justice and am well versed in the law and there is no law that states that certain questions are illegal or that I can be charged with anything for asking a qualifying question as an authorized party to the matter.

I hung up on him after about 2 minutes of telling him that if he needs to speak to someone regarding a legal matter he can speak with me. Karl called back and stated " Be in my office by 3:00 p.m." I said "Gladly Karl, where are you located" he hung up cuz he knew if I showed up he would get arrested because I would bring the police with me and have him carted off to jail for impersonating a police officer which is a felony. These people are in no way legit and if you get a call from them just hang up, contact the better business bureau as well as their state law enforcement office if you can even get the state where they are located from out of them. Report them enough and they will disappear and if not then maybe a class action lawsuit needs to be started by those who are being harassed by them.

To the "employees" that have been posting on here complaining about our complaints let me just say this....Quit your job before you wind up going to prison for your employer... They are partaking in illegal practices and your higher ups will be prosecuted because I am done with this and I will find a way to bring your company to it's knees before the end of the year. Your boss's are immoral and have no regard for human sanity and well being. I have reported them to the better business bureau on more than 6 occasions and am in the process of contacting a REAL investigator with the New York State Police department to file formal charges for harassment and illegal business practices. In addition I will be contacting any and every federal bureau or agency that can and will handle your employers illegal practices. Your bosses picked the wrong guy to mess with and your done. Happy trails seven one six your gunna burn in this fire.

I was called by these people at work repeatedly about free magazines and to get them to shut up I just agreed thinking at least they would be good in the waiting room.  When they called again to explain the whole thing to me I had my 2 month old son and basically just agreed to everything to get off the phone.  I never realized this was a scam until I looked online to get the address to mail my first payment and I am horrified.  I need to know the best way to get out of the situation as soon as possible.  Please help!!
