Someone from ur company just called me and I wanted to let u know I've already reported ur number to the better business bureau and they will be contacting ur company shortly at the number u provided me on my phone to call back so just give it up

I work in the Human Resource Department of my company and recieved a call from this number. He claimed to be Daniel Stewart of the United States of  Crime Bureau (what?!?). He said he needed to speak to one of my employees and claimed she may be deported...she is American born and has never been outside of the continental US. When I asked for a faxed document he became very abrupt saying he only needed her to contact him and that he did not want any of her information. The caller also had a heavy middle eastern accent.

Really?? sound very educated "sergeant". I can just imagine you saying this over the phone with your accent. How about you don't make a stupid comment and stop trying to embezzle money from people. Get into a different "profession".

I received a call from a gentlemen with a very heavy accent and he stated his name and I asked him for a badge # he gave me a fictious name & badge#,  He told me that if I didn't call him or have my attorney call him by the end of the day I would be arrested and at the end of the call he said I wish you the best and God bless???

Got a call from Michael Jones, 719.219.1029 said he was from the Crime Office and that I was going to be jailed.  Do not fall for any of their schemes.  It's a complete scam to get your info...Be warned...

Sergeant Sylvester, go back to India...I am in the legal industry and work with Federal Agents everyday.  So if I were you, stop trying to scam people out of their money and go back to your own country...Did you have to start this scam because you have no education, no wife that will have sex with you, thus your are frustrated.  Well guess what, I work with law enforcement all day...You are a moron...You will burn in hell....

To start with, since there seem to be legal people on here:

 Is it not true that this is more of a "civil" matter (collection of debt) than a "criminal" matter??

 Is it not true that they cannot jail you for a debt?? (unless it is huge)

 Is it not true that they broke the law by uttering threats of jail??

Just curious, as I have been doing a lot of "online" reading lately.

Another 7 calls today. using the name John, with debt collections dept. When will it stop? I also contacted my local police department, but said there isn't really anything that can be done! Isn't this a form of fraud, impersonating an officer, threaten people, harassing phone calls, take your pick, there should be a law againist this. If the President was receiving these types of calls, I bet it would only take an hour to find out who and where these calls are coming from. why don't we matter just as much?

This has been going on for over a year. I have taken a loan, but DID NOT DEFAULT. I know it is bogus, but it still gets me upset. They have called my sister and brother, there is no way to stop it except by everyone changing phone #'s. I don't think they have the entire social # so DON"T give it. ASK them TO GIVE YOU THE SSN#.

i am jus wondern since you work in the legal industry what are the steps to go through before they arrest you if this was a legit thing. i have been receiving these phone calls since friday, i have never been to jail or in trouble with the law except for a traffic violation and i am scared. i have 3 little ones, from newborn to 3 yrs old, and i don't want to be blowing this off as a scam only to find out that its not. watever info you can give me will be greatly appreciated

My story is pretty much the same as all the other ones, except my wife got a voice mail from them and I called back from my number after hearing the ridiculous voice-mail. The "Officer" changed his name about 3 times during conversation told me He was going to arrest me and needed to record conversation to play in the "courthouse". I asked him which courthouse and he said "what do you mean?" I asked for his badge #, as all Federal Officers have one, he would not answer - he just kept asking for my name which I would not give him. He then told me "He always gets his man", I laughed at that bad movie line (especially since it was in the hilarious accent). Needless to say I called 319-790-7000, which is their phone carrier, and explained to them the fraud which is being committed by one of their customers. The gentleman took the information and all of the aliases "Officer Jon Matthews" used and sent it to his management. So here's hoping that the company has some decency and shuts the number down... at least until they get another number.

Last year I got a call from the same people, claiming I owed money and could settle. Mr John Matthews. They harassed me at work for 2 days then i filed a police report and the cops called them and they stopped. Tonight at work out of the blue I got a call again, this time (Same name) Jon Matthews but from the US Tran Bureau. Said a committed a cyber crim sect. 1391??? Threatening me that a warrant will be issued by 11am for me tomorrow. Wouldnt give me any details, damn joke. My friends a lawyer so I hope he calls back tomorrow plus I reported it to my local police again so they have it all on record. Indian accent, gets real nasty when you dont agree and yet tries to be professional like "can i record this". Need to catch this Jonhn Matthews guy. Best thing when I said he tried last year he told me someone must have used his name to try and scam me! HA!

this a total scam,,what they do is somehow buy your info then they call you and try to scare you into sending them monies,,these idiots are from india and pakistani..they are losers who lives in a shed with dirt roads and no drinking water they have to go to the lake for water and there jealous that they cant live like us..
when they call you,,you can laugh at them or just ignore them if they see your upset they will call you with more threats,but the more you play with them and them the calls will stop..

i ma tired of recieving calls from all different numbers such as messages as this sayninf i have charges against me  and i need a lawyer and other things to scare me. ive reported other number to the investigating team here im in my state. they are working on stopping this matter. if you want to be real send out a letter first with proof. then call but you are fake. to many know this

This person called me today and said by tomorrow I would be arrested for $300.00 i owe. when I asked about who it was to, he wouldn't give me any information. He had my social, address, and everything! How can I find out what this is about?

I just got a call today, this john matthews threaten me that he is putting an arrest warrant for  300 payday loan, i asked to give me his web pages he refuse, he wanted me to pay 986.00 dollars and he said he was recording my conversation i said okay, he said you need to pay or you will go to jail, i talk to a frind of mine from lapd and he research and all of it is a  scam, don't fall for it, tell them okay what time shoul I spect the police to knock on my door. they get very upset with that, i said that and he hang up on my.

o anyone who may read this post and TO EVERYONE THAT RECEIVES CALLS FROM THIS NUMBER :  This number is supposedly attached to a one "Sharon Johnson" and also supposedly is the main number to the law firm of  Lathum and Watkins" with an address of 365 E Grand Ave  Los Angeles, Ca  90072.  When I called it this afternoon, a very thick accented Middle Eastern man claimed to be a lawyer for Lathum and Watkins.  Long story short, he would only speak his name so quickly when I asked that it was totally not understandable.  In an angry and upset tone of voice, he gave me the above address.  When asked for the main number of the law firm he would not provide it.  When I asked for Sharon Johnson, he refused to transfer the call until he was talking to the person who the delinquent account was the person they were speaking with.  by the end of this conversation, the person I spoke to who supposedly was a lawyer with this law firm was yelling at me and would not even take my address as a place to send all documentation and then proceeded to hang up on me.  When that happened, I knew I was not speaking with a law firm on the west coast, I was speaking to a scam skank.  First thing I did was google Lathum and Watkins to verify the info given to me.  It was  close but not exactly correct.  I then called the number on the website for this law firm  and was finally connected to a Mr. Phillip  Beeney who found the information I had optained to be VERY EXCITING.  He thanked me for calling the law firm and telling them about what was happening to their good name.  

The following is his recommendation for any further calls coming from this number.  In a very calm , even tempered, and polite voice inform the caller that the law firm of Lathum and Watkins has been notified and they are investigating this situation and will prosecute to the fullest extint of the law and parties associated in a very obvious scam.  He then said to inform the caller that the law firm instructed you to just say good bye and hang up.  Then just hang up.  Phillip said that if the calls became a nuisance or worse, to call your phone service provider and report the numbers and have them blocked so the calls would not be completed.  For the time being until actual people can be arrested and prosecuted, that was about all we could do.
