Same scam, same person.  Sent me a reply email to a Administrative Assistant job I applied for.  Knew there was something wrong when he requested the name of my bank.  I also followed my gut and checked this out and found you guys.  So many people scamming those of us looking for legal employment on craigslist.

Add on craigslist I sent an email of inquiry and he sent a long email back -- all the above bs and wanted to confirm my contact info from my resume.  One problem I had not sent a resume!  Knew I had to check this guy out.  Thanks to everyone for the heads up.

I am in need of somebody who can combine the responsibilities of an administrative & personal assistant at his/her spare time. The pay will be $600 every week. I need your professional service because I am constantly out of town.

Your duties basically would be Shopping for gifts, assistance in collection of funds {checks mostly} and disbursing of same. Instruction for disbursement  would be sent to you, and you will make a report to me also through email daily. This position is open to people 18 years and above and no sign up fee is required.

This is only an introductory e-mail, as time goes on we should be able to arrange a proper meeting to get things started officially. You do have a number of things you could help with this week if you will be available for the tasks. This can act as a stable foundation to our working relationship. I just received this same email from Mr. Franklin C. Milles. I've actually received 3-4 of the same type of emails this week. People please beware no one is going to entrust strangers with this type of money to run errands and purchase things for them. Times are hard and people are taking desperate measures to get money. Please don't fall for these scams. I replied to them. I have contacted the FBI and haven't heard back from any of them.

First off, the wages are out of line with the job offered. $600. @ 40 hours is $15.00 an hour. To go shopping? Well, that's not what this scam is about. It's all about the checks. The fake ones. The one's you'll deposit, then 24-48 hours later withdraw funds & send to someone else. The giveaway in the scam will be the use of a cash wire transfer service (Western Union, etc.) Which is of course cash. Then 4-6 weeks later. The checks bounce. Craigslist is full of job offer scams. They vary a little, but they usually involve receiving checks/wiring money.

How did it clear the bank if it was a fraudulent check

I would say it didn't clear since that poster indicated that she owes the bank money.

I meant to begin with

To begin with, having the money available and the check clearing are 2 different things. You see by law the bank is required to make the funds available the next business day except in certain instances.  Now it takes several days to several weeks for the check to get through the system via the routing numbers and then be declared NSF.  Especially if the routing numbers are off by one or two digits.  At that point, the check is returned to the depositing bank and then the bank comes after their customer who deposited it.  Which is what happened to the poster you replied to.  she is out the total amount of the check and the fees.  Most likely she mailed a large portion of that check to someone which is why she is on the hook for those funds.

So glad I checked before going further. It looked like a spam message. Be careful with job ads on Craigslist.

His name now is Mike Robert <dttextile20003@gmail and posting in Iowa. I didn't get any calls, only emails. Sadly I was really hoping this wouldn't be a scam. I've been needing something short of a miracle which would only happen if I can get a real job and a good one at that. I really wish these people would get caught and punished after seeing what people go through in life and how these scum bags only make it worse.

I filled out the info also he sent a check I checked the routing number when I said I don't trust putting it in my account he got a attitude. I was advised to take to the police
