- FerrisCalled my work on august 13, 2012. Said I was the second place winner of $800,000 dollars. Wanted to ask if I had received notification of my winnings yet. Of course I said no! He then said, I needed to register to receive my winnings by going to Wal Mart and buy a Money Pack Reloading Card for $1,000 dollars and that I was to keep that card with me and go home and call him back with the registration numbers on the card. Then my $800,000 dollars would be delivered by 12 noon on August 14th buy ups mail. I told him I was not comfortable with giving him the card numbers before I get my winnings because with my registration numbers he could get my 1,000 dollars before I got my money. He said he is not authorized to collect the $1,000 dollars before I get the delivery of my winnings and honesty is the best policy. I told him I would pay the $1,000 dollars after my cashiers check from Bank of America for $800,000 dollars was delivered. He said the delivery people are not authorized to accept payment from the winner. The registration numbers on the wal mart cards had to be registered with him first. He then called back and said everything is ready for me to receive my winnings and a representative from the postal service, the FBI and Bank of America would be here by noon tommorrow. He is just waiting on me to give him my numbers from the card for $1,000 dollars. I told him to fax me everything showing me what I've won and who I won it from and what exactly he wanted me to do. LOL! I know this is all a scam, but I got to mess with them a little bit by keeping them on the phone and making them jump through some hoops, thinking they might get money out of me. Of course they never did.

- Lori replies to Anonym| 1 replyThat is weird because I downloaded a MS product and shortly after entering my name, number and credit card - I got a call from this number. I tried calling it back, stupidly, because I have family in CO. But now they have my name from caller ID - which comes up as another person in my family who no longer lives here. I had better warn them about this scam. I just wonder if someone has hacked into Microsoft and is stealing personal info?
- Lori replies to SueAre these people getting our numbers from Microsoft's database? I just ordered an MS product and entered all my info including phone number. I got one of these calls an hour or two later. What is up with this microsoft thing?
- Lori replies to KyleI am sorry to post this multiple times but I think it is too great a coincidence -- I have never seen this number until today. These scammers called me for the very first time an hour or two after I downloaded a Microsoft product. I entered this phone number in the contact info for my account. There is something up - someone hacking into Microsoft's customer database or something!
- Lori replies to smI think you might be on to something there. When I foolishly called this number back, I got a recording that I had reached an operator with a code number. Maybe this is some routing center for overseas calls that scammers use frequently.
- Jen replies to CI want to take a poll and find out how many people have upgraded or purchased a product from Microsoft at some point before starting to receive these calls. I got my first call from this number after downloading a product off the Microsoft website....
- Lori replies to FredThat is a cell phone company in India, if you google it.
- Molly replies to AllisonAllison: What dating website because I got a phone call from a guy I met as well. Let me know and maybe we should compare notes. Molly
- fieldI got a phone call twice in a day.
- AWG3There are at least two options for those bothered by people originating these offensive calls:
1. Go to www.fcc.com and click on the electronic complaint form, filling out each of the entries (takes about two minutes), identifying the date and time of the unwanted call(s), any identifying information from Caller ID ("Unavailable" is a valid entry), your number where the call was received and your name, street and email addresses. The FCC will immediately respond with an email to you, identifying the file number assigned to your complaint. If everyone filed these complaints to the FCC, that deluge will prompt an investigation and likely a fine on the calling party.
2. I followed a recommendation from a comment listed elsewhere on 800Notes, where that person was extremely frustrated over calls from a number different than 720-708-1000 (as the above folks obviously are) and purchased a DIGITONE Call Blocker from www.digitone.com Three features attracted my interest: a) I now can block up to 80 specific telephone numbers, b) This device has "First Ring Supression." meaning that you will not even hear the first ring!!, c) you can block entire area codes, a feature that can be used to block all 800, 866, 877, etc. numbers or those from specific (not toll-free) numbers. There may be other devices available, too. I saw immediate success with the one I purchased.
Silence can be Golden!!
Even so, I regularly report annoying/illegal/robo calls, etc. to the FCC. Now that I also use the DIGITONE device these annoying calls have been greatly reduced in number.- Caller: Colorado

- Photocrazy replies to Ann NoidAlso exempt are any company you have ever done business with or the people they share your information with, that is why you get calls from these idiots that try to sell you insurance for your credit card in case you get sick or die etc. This also includes any company that had a booth at a home show, fair etc and you provided your information in order to enter their contest, which really is the way they get names that they can give to a telemarketer that they hire to drum up business.
- X replies to LoriIf someone hacks into Microsoft, then they should give up their business license, no-one is hacking Microsoft.
