- ShalomI saw this anonymous comment at another blog: (ref: http://financialgumshoe.blogspot.com/2011/12/1-720-708-1000-is-scam.html)
"I believe that these calls are being routed through a wholesale VoIP Trunk Provider out of Denver, CO by the name of Teliax. (www.teliax.com).
We are customers of Teliax and I know that if our SIP headers are misconfigured on our PBX, the caller ID will show up as 720-708-1000.
You might want to try sending the guys at Teliax a support request via their website and see if they would search for the perpetrator in their call logs. I know for certain that these uses are against their TOS. The guys at Teliax are very helpful and would likely help you dig to verify. "- Caller: Unknown - hung up

- WeezieSaid she is with Century Link & because they are so focused on good customer service she wanted to personally call & discuss the great discount our company already is signed up for. I didn't like her attitude & don't care to confirm anything over the phone so I just told her I was in housekeeping & would take a message. She continued to try & get info from me, asking me how to pronounce my full name all at once etc. Bottom line is as far as I know our company doesn't use Century Link for anything unless it's in fine print somewhere (& you can bet I'm gonna look). I think the 720-708-1000 phone number is some generic number people can use regardless of the reasoning for contacting you. My friend's daughter prank called my son using a system that I believe is one in the same. When she called my son a crazy, random number showed on his Caller ID.
- Caller: Century Link
- mysteriousI'm receiving these calls everyday every hour and it is really getting on my nerves and then they will call back unknown sometimes like I'm really going to answer. I want it to stop immediately. This is not the only phone number they are calling from on daily basis. Somebody has to do something
- sarespondagot a call from this number, said they were from the republican party and their office was in St. Paul, MN. I told them I didn't recognize the number because their were no area codes listed in Minnesota with that number. They said they were still having to get stuff worked out with the phone company. He asked me to make a $50.00 contribution. I told him I didn't think I could make that amount and that I only make those contributions through the mail. He said he would send me something in the mail if I would agree to make a $50.00 contribution...I told him to just send me something in the mail and I would look at it. I then asked him who the Presidental candidate's running mate was--he could not tell me. I thought he shouldn't be trying to get money on behalf of the party if he did not know who the running mate was.
- Caller: Republican Party (or so he said)
- Call type: Political call
- fedup| 1 replyRe'd a call yesterday morning ... caller ID said "Colorado". We don't know anyone in Colorado so we ignored the call... in researching this number here, I am definitely glad we didn't pick up the call.
- Kjomni replies to fedupI just got the same call. ID said "Colorado". He said he was from Microsoft and he detected a virus on my computer?!? I asked several times who he was with (because his accent was so heavy I couldn't understand him). He kept saying Microsoft. I just finally hung up. It was all very strange... It felt like he was just trying to keep me on the line for some reason.

- BlossomFolks,
This is a default number for spoofers. Look up caller ID spoofing in Wikipedia if you don't know what this means.
It is against the law. Please help the FCC catch the perps and file a complaint providing as much info as you have.
The Truth in Caller ID Act of 2009, which was signed into law Dec. 22, 2010, prohibits caller ID spoofing for the purposes of defrauding or otherwise causing harm. In June 2010, The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) adopted rules implementing the Truth in Caller ID Act.
“Please let the FCC know about ID spoofers by calling 1-888-CALL-FCC or filing a complaint at fcc.gov/complaints.”

- JoyceI got two calls this morning from 720-708-1000. The second time around I picked up the phone and heard nothing! I, too, am on the do not call list! I've even changed my phone number to unlisted.
- jeslpayn replies to From NJThis phone number called me 14 times Saturday and I finally answered. They knew my parents' names!! It was scary, and when I tried to tell them to stop calling me, they hung up and kept calling me. I ended up blocking the number, it's harassment! I will file a report on them!!
