- Roger Clarkkeeps calling, will not leave a message.
- Caller: brackenridge, Pa
- D.T.| 1 replyThis number (724-257-8072) called on a Thursday at 10:48 am. Caller ID displayed the number and
"Brackenridge PA". I was hoping it was Hillary trying to sell a speech on "How To Be A Liar" or Bernie Sanders promising more "free" stuff to people that don't work so he can raise taxes. Sadly, it was just a fool telemarketer for some "Health Care" something or other. I hung up on the female voice.- Call type: Telemarketer
- M| 6 repliesKNOCK IT OFF. I called back. Finally couldn't take it anymore. "You should receive a call within one day. If you believe you received this call in error, pls. press 5 to be added to our DNC list."
What trash! I'm ON THE DNC LIST, AND THAT DOESN'T SEEM TO BE HELPING. WHY DOESN'T THE GOVT. ACTUALLY DO ITS JOB?! - B-Edwards replies to MThe DNC is not a call blocker. Illegal callers - criminals - don't care about the DNC. Since the caller is a crook, they do not care about your "request to be removed" - to them, it is a confirmation that they have reached a working number that is answered by a person. So too the bs about press 5 to remove, that is meaningless other than proving to the scammer that they have reached a working number.
Many of these calls are from illegal call centers and are not even located in the western hemisphere. Being that they are criminals, they don't really obey the law in any case. Some people like call blockers or call blocking systems. Legal remedies are available to you, you will need to invest your time and some money, but you might get some satisfaction.
Here is a good guideline: Don't answer unknown callers from unknown numbers. Block them with a call blocker, a blocking app or sometimes with your phone carrier. You need to take steps to protect yourself. Contact your State and Fed reps to push for enforcement. - Tamianth replies to MB is right! Do a search on call blocking devices and phones. - Mr. D replies to LilI believe your caller ID really said, "Health Alert TM", unless it was made in a foreign country that has an extremely poor grasp of the English language.
- Mr. D replies to Frank| 1 replyDear Frank, I'm sure the robotic dialing machine was really upset by you taking the time to answer an unknown call to confirm it's an active number and then sitting or standing there blowing a whistle.
- Mr. D replies to M| 2 repliesDear M, When the calls come in from a non-domestic location with a spoofed area code and name, the best the government can do right now is to send someone out to cut the phone line before it comes into your house.
- Mary AnneNo message. Blocked number and AC.
- Caller: "Healthalertm" on Caller ID
- SunSpot51| 2 repliesThank-you republicans for allowing these kinds of calls to continue. After all, we can't block the scammers from making a living can we?
- Slim replies to SunSpot51Quote:we can't block the scammers from making a living can we?
Um ...
You are entirely within your rights to obtain a call blocker, and employ it to prevent scam / spam phone calls.
Try to understand this concept: NEITHER political party is responsible for scam / spam phone calls. In fact, there are bilateral agreements that make them illegal. If you can read, google "Federal Do Not Call", and get adult assistance in interpreting the words, to learn what types of calls are covered under that policy. - John BrownI received numerous calls from the number(724-257-8072) and he or she never leaves a message.
When I received a call, my phone displays accept or reject. So, if I don't recognize the number, I slide reject to the left.
Also, my ATT logs every calls I make, and every calls I received. So, sometimes, I would check the log to see if it logs this (724-257-8072) or any other number that I think is scam, and in all cases , it never logged them, because if ATT logs them, then the numbers are traceable. - CWG40 replies to Mr. DI agree. I always make sure I'm talking to a real person before hitting them with my air horn.
- A| 1 replyHusband is eligible for Medicare next month, we are getting multiple calls from all over wanting to sell Medicare supplement plans. Pretty sure this is another one.
- Rick"This is Lisa Williams of MedicAlert . . ."
Or that's what she claims. I hung up. So tired of these damn thieves.- Caller: MedicAlert
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Mary replies to FrankDear Frank, not only am I sure it bothered the robocall machine when you blew a whistle, but I am also sure you either just pissed off a real scammer who is now going to escalate, or you at the very least let them know you have a viable number and you are naive enough to answer, either way encouraging them to call more and share with others, too.
- Mary replies to MThe DNC isn't there to protect individuals. They say they are there to "follow trends." And criminals aren't gonna consult DNC, they're predators. The recording you got was schmoozing you. It sounds like you are beginning to hit the wall of reality, that you must learn how to handle these callers yourself. Ignore them, don't answer suspect numbers, check here first. If it is a real caller, you can always call them back and explain.
- Mary replies to SunSpot51Well, now, waitaminute..... Why do you accuse republicans of being responsible? This website isn't about politics, it's about helping us all not fall prey to scammers, which I am certain are not only nonpartisan, but also nondenominational and nonhuman, and often not even American. I don't understand your train of thought, I just don't. Wanna really get even and dominate the situation? Stay calm and polite, and ignore the call!
