- LEAVE ME ALONEI owe no debts.. They call leave no message
- Larry replies to Paula WilsonThanks, there were several that I didn't have.
- BarbaraI never answer from numbers that I don't recognize, however, Portfolio never gives up. When they don't get an answer when calling you from one number they call you from another. They must have dozens of numbers. They are calling me for a debt from 2005 when my husband took ill and passed away.
- Caller: Portfolio
- Call type: Debt collector
- Ronald the Hamburger ClownIf they were up & up they'd use the same phone number--why do they use so many numbers? Sleazy if you ask me.
- Caller: Port. Rec.
- RobertI know it's Portfolio Recovery because of 800Notes. I have no idea why PR would be calling me nor do I care. Because of these kinds of calls I have learned to never answer a call from an unknown number and never return the call if they don't leave a message.

- DixieThis is Portfolio Recovery; a low-life debt collector with many, many spoofing phone numbers. They constantly call my cell phone, yet never leave a message. How ignorant of them! They previously took me to court on a bill I did not owe and they had no proof of, and they lost. Now the bill is past the Statute of Limitations. I have all their numbers on silent ringer, and I never answer a number I don't recognize. They should be sued and fined out of existence.

- LadyvCollection. Portofolio recovery. Those leeches have been calling from all different numbers and they don't stop. They never give up.

- TTgirl replies to JayI like to tell them to hold so I can get the person they are asking for then just put the phone down to see how long they will sit there!

Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.
Also get a call blocker. Do not pick up on numbers you do not recognize. - Morganno message but gotta be portfolio recovery looks like well over a year since they used this number for their scam
- MikeCalled but don't leave message. Working on my credit score the last 2 months with payment plans with who I owe. This company is not one of them, who are they? Leave a message and tell me all information and who you collecting for. If account is before 2009, you get nothing. Bankruptcy covered ALL debt. I know who I owe and I'm owning up to them. LEAVE A MESSAGE OR MAIL ME INFO. (Send certified mail if you do mail to me, so you can't say you sent something and didn't)

- AnonymLMAO... yet ANOTHER number from Portfolio Recovery Associates!
Make me Philosopher-King and I will eliminate ALL taxes and will instead limitlessly fund all governments by selling tickets to burning scumbags like these at the stake!
Wanna have some fun?
When they call say something like "wow, I just sent you guys money last week, what is that account number again?" then on the pretense of making sure you have it right read it back to them but mess up the details.... go on and on and on with them like this until they hang up in frustration.- Caller: Portfolio Recovery Associates

- Maggie replies to WILLIAMJust don't answer calsl from strange area codes. I block these numbers. There is a statute of limitations that will expire in a duration of years and your debit is tstill on the books, but they can't hound you after that. Most of all never give out any information like your social security number nor offer over the phone checks or pre dated checks to these bottom feeders. They can kiss my ass. Also beware they are sneaky and kept changing their phone numbers to try to get thru to you. I also heard that Portfolio Recovery was sued a few years ago for hounding people who have actually paid off their debts. They buy old accounts from other collection agencies pennies on the dollar. They have sent me letters for years and I just cut them up and toss into garbage. You might try getting an unlisted phone number maybe that will help. Good luck! :)
- Frustrated Citizen| 1 replyThis number called me today, no message left. Portfolio has added more weapons to their arsenal. They now "robo file " lawsuits to sue people in small claims court. They do not even need to show up they do everything through automated systems through email and over the Internet. I was advised that 90% of the people they do this to do not show up in court or they are not even aware of it, and so a default judgment is made in portfolios favor. A consumer advocate legal aid attorney I spoke with who specializes in cases with debt buyers and other creditors advised me that judges are not very educated on the tactics used by these debt buyers so consumers often lose and the laws written to protect consumers were only written to address the original creditor and debt buyers are not even included in the laws written to protect consumers and so don't have to comply to what documents they need to give you, etc.

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection - Laws Should be EnforcedSeveral calls from this number, nights and weekend. Don't owe anyone any money, have no idea why they would call. They don't leave a message. Next call I will report them Consumer Protection, I have a copy of my phone log for evidence. As the number matches other entries on this page I am listing the company and call type that was referenced in other posts although I don't know this first hand. Either way, I'm done. Turning them over to the feds if they call again. And I might call one of those lawyers that sues them per call, I could use a few grand!

http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection - Stop Whining and Pay your Freaking Bills| 2 repliesI am so tired of hearing people, whine and cry that they get a call from a collection agency for a bill that they in fact never paid. Do you actually think there would not be consequences to not paying a bill. I obviously didn't and that's why I looked the number up. In fact any bill that I have that was never paid is 10 years old, but that does not change the fact it is my fault. Stop whining dead beats, pay your freaking bills
