Most likely you are getting calls from an automatic dialing machine.  If the machine reaches an answering machine, the people behind the calls know that this is a valid number.  Eventually, a real person will call you.  This saves the caller a lot of wasted time calling endless nonworking numbers.  

Caller I.D. is the most useful feature that you could have.  You can avoid answering unknown numbers.  

I know it may seem to be time-consuming, but you might find it useful to keep a record of when the calls come in.  I keep a notebook nearby and write down the date, time and number.  It will provide a record that will be useful when you make an official complaint.  It's proof (aka documentation) of the exact nature of the harassment.

As a matter of fact a professional fundraiser for Insight and their director of development no less. You set up these four groups so that you could siphon off donations meant for the other groups that Insight raises money for. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel article from 2007 that found Insight Teleservices, Inc. kept ~86% of the $812,500 it raised on behalf of Wisconsin Paralyzed Veterans of America.  The charity got ~$113,750.  It appears to me that the principle reason for Good Charity, Inc. is to retain the services of Insight Teleservices and only the minimum amount of money is actually funneled charity to keep the whole thing legal.

Notice the names of a group that is actually contracted Insight to raise money for them and then notice the name of the same group that Brian Maiorana started.

Never pick up anymore.

Add me to the list of annoyed recipients.  We have received calls from this number several times, no message ever goes on the answering machine, and you just get click when you pickup the receiver. Totally annoying and rude.

Several calls from this number, but always hang up--until today.  She said she was calling on behalf of the Terminally Ill Children's Fund.  I told her to stop right there, I wasn't giving any money to phone solicitations and they were to remove my name and number from their list and before she could say anything else, I said good-bye.  Also have had calls from a similar #--734-349-9228 and haven't been able to answer before they hang up.

Get calls from this number several times a week.I have tried clicking on the phone and saying nothing but it doesn't make them go away. New rule is I don't know you I am not picking up the
phone. Told the doctors office if they want me to answer when they call to stop using the unkown name or 800 number. I pay for my phone for my own use not some telemarketure. I wrote my senator about them passing a law and not inforcing it ,But never heard from her. Guess she doesn't care.

Don't think National Do Not Call are doing what they promised.  They are not fining At All, or this would have stopped long ago.

Rec'd a call today to our business phone. I answered with the name of the business and the boiler-room employee ask for the owners by their last name, then apologized, said he was calling on behalf of a charity and hung up.
Our business is plagued with these disruptive calls every day, from numerous numbers. Even when asked to be but on their do not call list, most call back and repeatedly.

Personally and from a business perspective, we would NEVER do any business or donate to any charity that bothers us with these calls. It may have been a viable way for organizations to contact potential customers or contributors at one point but has become a harassment and is counter productive now.

Even businesses that we have made purchases from in the past had better not call us or sell our info, or they will not get our business again. (Think Sears, our bank, our credit card company, etc....)

Cell phone won't help you.
We are now getting calls on those too.
The more you give your number out to any retailer, financial org, or others that are likely to share or sell your number the more calls you will get and that includes on your cell phone.
