I got a call 5 times in 1 day from LAURA LAUREN LAURIE. I finally decided to answer when she called at 9pm!! I was irritated, so I went off on her. She apologized repeatedly, so I aske her to tell me what was so urgent that she had to call me so many times. She said I was selected for free vacations and travel $$ from a drawing, then she wanted me to get my travel partner on the phone. I told her I travel with my kids. She said I would have to pay a $75 refundable deposit, and pick a date for my trip. At first I led her on to see where it would end up. Someone got on the line and asked me the same stuff she went over. Then ANOTHER person got on the phone. I've worked in sales here in MD for over 10 years, so I knew about the whole timeshare spill. I asked the travel agent, her name was weird I think it was  Xenzia (sp????) or something. Something like that. I asked her every question I could think of, and wrote everything down. Jus in case they ended up being shady. The call ended up taking 45 mins (partially my fault ha ha). I went on the tour. They offered to watch my kids whileoat tending the seminar. But I don't let strangers watc my kids. The resort is beautiful butout of my price range. 2 hours later, i got my gifts and went about my way :)

sorry about calling so much but we are supposed to call at least 3 times a night...we are only given a limited amount of entry forms a day.  answer the phone and tell them you dont want to be called after 8pm.  on the form it says we can call till 10 so that is how late we work and have to call until.

Ms. Humphries replies to stolen money
That's totally false. 1. I've done the whole thing before. And they do tell you about the refund going on a visa gift card, which also includes EXTRA funds which brings me to point 2. Not only is it not stealing, it's actually giving. You get your money plus funds to assist in activities, and if you listen or ask question, you can actually call the number on the back of your card and have the money placed onto your own personal card.

I've done the whole process before, would love to know how it was a scam for you. Definitely the exact opposite for me and the couple who cam along with. I just hate to see companies lied on.

I received the same phone call tonight from the form I filled out at the SGK gunshow in Hampton, VA.  Jennifer on the phone was never rude, never pushy, and was very helpful.  She answered all of my questions and sounded legit.  I did NOT sign up, but am thinking maybe I should have.  Doesn't sound like a scam to me.  But my finance refuses to attend with me.  He thinks it is a scam.  The only part I do not like is giving out my credit card over the phone.  If that was not a part of this offer, I would have definitelty made my reservation and showed up.  But I understand why the company wants it.  It pretty much guarentees the person/people don't back out.  That is also probably the reason they want your travel companion on the phone.  That way everything is confirmed with both parties before one or other other is misillusioned and doesn't show up.

Bottom line - Vacation Village Resorts timeshare sales team: a group full of [***].

After being very kind and apologetic, saying that I was sorry I didn't read all the ramifications when i entered the sweepstakes and that I was not interested, Rep Tara said, "you should read the fine print, BYE." and then hung up on me. I mean, come on. Sure, it was my "fault" (though I frankly didn't give a damn anyways - they push that crap on you at expos) for not reading the full entry form, but with that attitude, the entire resort company lost a potential guest, who, btw, does frequent good resorts annually.

Sad sales team. You don't realize the impact your attitude makes on the image of your entire company.... Marketing and Sales 101... And if they don't give you a PowerPoint on that, I'm surprised they don't include human decency as a part of their hiring process.

Received a phone call from this number today, initially ID coded as "Reservations".

The woman asked for me by name, and congratulated me as a winner of a SGK Gun Show drawing for a $250 Visa gift card and a three (3) day inclusive getaway. I did attend a SGK Gun Show in Hampton, VA; three (3) weeks prior.

Whe asked to speak with my wife on a phone extension. It readily became apparent that this was a timeshare marketing call, but the caller informed us that we were still going to receive the $250 Visa gift card, so long as we attended their 90 minute presentation. Furthermore, they continued, to hold the reservation for the timeshare presentation, that we need only make an over-the-phone deposit of $75 that will be refunded when we arrive on time for said presentation.

Without saying a word, my wife and I immediately discontinued the call. My phone rang again within five (5) seconds, ID coded as "Williamsburg Plantation."

As the FTC has on their website at http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0199-prize-scams: Prize Scams

You have to attend a sales meeting to win: If you agree to attend, you’re likely to endure a high-pressure sales pitch. In fact, any pressure to “act now” before you miss out on a prize is a sign of a scam.

Yes, same as most.  Entered a "drawing" at a pet expo that made zero mention about a time share.  Found the old ticket stub in my wallet and checked... hey I am a winner.... just have to call to get the prize.  Then found the sad truth, just another scam sales pitch.  I won the right to have something pan handled to me... no thanks.
