Called me at 5:00 am!   Not happy!

I don't understand.   I just signed up for that google chat and did a call to my home phone to see if it worked.  It came through as California call. 760-705-8888. Why is everyone else saying some guy with an accent uses this number too?

If you place a call through gmail, this is the number that will appear.

I received a call from this number from someone saying he was my grandson, Michael.  I don't have a grandson , much less one named Michael.  He knew my first name and called me Grandpa Mel.  He first tried to get me to guess who he was but I persisted with asking him his name.  Then, when I asked where he lived, he hung up.

I received a call from 760-705-8888 at 10:30 am, Nov 15, 2011.  The voice on the other end sounded familiar but since I have a number of family and friends scattered across the U.S., I was not sure who was calling.  After saying hello, there was a pause on the distant end and I was about to hand up when the caller asked if I knew who he was.  I responded that I was not sure but the voice did sound familiar.  He told me he was my grandson and seemed bothered that I did not recognize his voice.  He pushed for me to give a name but I told him I had several grandsons which he sort of sounded like and I didn't want to make a mistake.  He told me his name was David.  Which searching my mind for a grandson named David, he asked if I didn't remember him?  I told him I was having trouble remembering a grandson named David, I said I have a son named David but didn't remember a grandson with that name.  Suddenly, I got dial tone because he had hung up.  I tried to call back but got a recorded message that I needed to hang up and retry my call.  I don't know why I was being called.  I suspect it was an attempt to social engineer some money, or who knows what these days, from me.

This is the second call of this nature and from this number that I've received during the past 6 months.  Had I fallen for the impersonation I might have been swindled out of who knows what.  This is a BAD problem for elderly and/or retired people and should be stopped.  Google should be required to give each user of this service a legitimate Caller ID number so calls could be traced back.

I am NOT impressed with Google's telephone service.  I'm wondering if the FCC is aware of this problem and what they might be doing to stop it.  Maybe Google should be fined for each nuisance or fraudulent call of this nature that is reported!!!!

Some Hindu caller speaking Indian, calling me at 12am!!! Didnt understand one word of the language they spoke.

I receive calls from this number (760) 705-8888 about twice a week and would like to know how to block them.

I NEED TO HAVE THIS PERSON OR COMPANY STOP CALLING MY NUMBER.....THANK YOU!!!!

We work an ice cream store. man with heavy indian accent conned one of our employees to give her cell phone number and used it to get a confirmation code on craigslist. it would appear that this is the motive:

he identified himself as Adam Parker he called from 760-705-8888 whichis a nonworking cell number when you call back.

he claimed he was from corporate and that he was sending us new uniforms the next day and he needed the cell number for this.

A guy who can barely speak english- definelty east indian accent or similar claiming hes from a company called ITS and that I should be seeing warnings of a virus on my computer. He wanted me to go to my computer and go into the network. I told him i know hes  a scammer and I would not do it and to not call me again. He insisted repeatedly that he was not a scammer and that he felt very sorry for me if i didnt let him help me because each time I was to go on the internet that i would lose a piece of my hard drive..  I told him if thats the case i know someone that I trust to come and see my computer themselve and he got upset.  I would have hung up way earlier in the conversation  but i honestly couldnt understand a word the guy said to me...  regardless-- NEVER go to your computer and look at it to some stranger on the phone.

I just got a similar call.  Stating he calls from a non-profit, got some error message that my computer is infected with viruses.  He was nebulous as to how he knew that.  He wanted me o down load teamviewer, ie give him remote access to my computer.  I refused and hung up.  he called back and tried to convince me that i needed help or my comuter would crash within 24 hours.  The call soon degraded to him asking for my cell number and to say he wanted to see me, that he had my address, etc.  I hung up, and he called back 3 more times.  

Under the event viewer on my computer there were several "error" listed, but they were mostly related to Quickbooks, a software I have several version of on my computer, which creates conflicts in between the versions.    I ran a scan of my computer, and no viruses were found.  To be safe, i made a full back up of my files.  

Your story siliconwarrior scares me a little...  that your computer crashed the day following the call.  What kind of bad coincidence is that?? Did you allow him remote access while on the call?

Received 2 calls from 760-705-8888 in the middle of the night. Want to stop receiving all calls from this number.

Just had a call from this number.
Asked me how my debit machine was working.
We do not have one.
Told him he is scamming the WRONG people.

Hey John u sound like a babbling salesman, oh wait a minute u are one trying to promote an app, and sell it, or maybe you are a scammer yourself and trying to sell this app so you could hack peoples computers???  tell me John...why should people pay for any app when they did not ask to be harassed by these scammers?? here is an old idea and its free and people have been using it for decades, Dont pick up the phone.

I think I know have an idea to this number I also know a person that call me from this same number recently.

Could this be from a google call? I personally know someone he calls me a few time from this number.

760-705-8888 COMES UP WITH THE NAME OF MAURA COLLINS WHO WORKS FOR A COMPANY CALLED, HUGE, INC.  I HAVE REPORTED HER TO THE OWNER OF THE COMPANY AND I, PERSONALLY WILL BE FILING A LAWSUIT AGAINST HER AND AGAINST THE COMPANY AND I WILL BE SUBPOENING CELL PHONE RECORDS WITH THAT PHONE NUMBER.

THIS IS AGAINST THE LAW.
