No, they are not reputable at all.  In fact, they are bottom feeders who harass family members for non-existent or already paid debt.

Spoofing IS a crime - but then consider you are dealing with thieves.

Another Portfolio Recovery call.  I didn’t answer & no message was left. Funny how all of a sudden, they start calling again after not calling for weeks. Nothing but a scam. I never answer when they call.

Faint beep when I answer call, then a hang up.  We get a call almost everyday. Unable to get our #'s removed from calling list.

Web search:  Scam Debt Collection Agency. Uses different phone numbers, ? Spoofing, ? auto-dialing. Accuracy of numbers called not accurate.

I just got a home phone and within 5 hours these Jokers are calling. I'm not answering. I owe no one. No message left.

Called at 08:33 on 17 Jan, 2018. Also called at 09:04 and 19:14 on 03 Jan, 2018. Caller I.D. was "PORTFOLIO RECOV," all times. Left no messages. Caller(s) with this same I.D. also called me from (407) 374-2319, (619) 560-5641, (770) 462-2198, (770) 752-4103, (859) 635-4142, (869) 635-4145, (303) 731-2610, (859) 340-1606, and (951) 624-7073. No further data.

CALLS EVERYDAY AND HUNGS UP UPON ANSWERING

I get calls like crazy for 6 - 9 months and then it stops.  It started back up today.  I report the numbers every time to DNC complaints.  I've reported them to my state attorney general office as well.  This company, if they think I owe money, is required to put it in writing.  I have never received anything in writing and they never leave a message.  They are a BS outfit and no one should ever answer calls from them.  I have read PC considers an answered call as acknowledge you DO owe the debt they claim you do.  Let 'em sit and twist in the wind.

If the debt collection is legit it is req'd by law for them to send a bill.  As per my State Attorney office.  Screw 'em.  Let 'em call.  And report every number to the DNC complaint site. And file a complaint with your State Attorney office.  You can usually do it online.  PR has been sued in numerous states.  They just move to another and continue their harassing.  Report them!
