Danielle Short called for my cousin who hasn't lived with me in over 7 years.  She was harrassing and rude.  She stated that she had a Civil matter and needed to speak to my cousin as soon as possible.  I took down the phone # and case #.  I don't know how they got my phone # since it is unlisted and my cousin never had this phone #.

Lady called house looking for me and wife answered phone. I was not here. Lady was rude and verbally aggressive with my wife. My wife hung up and she called back and to my wife I was being sued and she would see my wife in court. I called and did not get the name of the company but a simple "claims". I identified myself and they asked for a claim number. I had none! The lady proceeded to tell me about a debt on a Bank One credit that I supposedly acquired in May/95. She said they knew it was mine by the signature. Huh?? She also told me the card was over max limit of 2500.00 by about 27.00 and that the current balance is 3200.00. This has been 12 years and that's all. She told me she was looking at the contract but could not tell me where I lived when I opened the account but it was opened up via mail in application. She told me that I requested a new card for my wife in Dec. 2001 and they sent it. Did I mention that I had not made a payment on the card since who knows? They also said my wife made a payment on the card in Aug 2003. They gave me her name and the last four of her driver's license but it was nowhere near the correct numbers. They gave it to me twice. They want me to have my statement ready for them on 8/13/07. I refuse to talk to them anymore. They sad they are going to subpeona me and I will need to get a lawyer. After seeing this site I am definately not going to talk to them.

Ms. Williams called my mother's house and left a barely understandable message on her machine stating that she was with Claims America and there was a civil suit against me and if I didn't return her call within 14 hours that I would be taken to court by August 21.  She left a claim number and a phone number and extension.  I figured that this was some sort of scam trying to collect on an old debt (i had some problems about 9-10 years ago) so I'm glad I found this site.  I was contacted by a similiar company several months ago using all sorts of scare tactics to try to get me to pay a huge amount of money when they couldn't even verify the debt in writing.  These peple get extremely rude and belligerent if you try to ask any questions b/c they know that they dont have a leg to stand on.  In most cases the SOL has expired on these debts (if they were ever real to begin with) so don't give them any indication that you might pay.  It will renew the SOL.  It is also against the law for them to claim they are going to take you to court unless they actually intend to do so.

Well my mother called me from florida apparently someone named dana left a msg on her mch leving this number with ext 108 saying I needed to call today that they are pressing civil and criminal charges against me in my county.  I laughed because being a GA number and they were leaving the message in florida.  I learned my lesson a while back when another collection agency who says they are a lawfirm which I am sure they were who happens to be a collection agency working in NY saying they are going to subpoena me and have a lawsuit ready for me.  I said go ahead.  I actually work for a lawyer and it is ridiculous with these calls.  As soon as I googled this number I said this was awesome with all these responses.  My mother said the caller spoke so fast she had to listen to her machine 5 times just to get the phone number.  I mean civil and criminal action in georgia cracked me up.

A woman asked for my husbands deceased x-wife. She has been dead 10 years! So weird, they called on a phone that is listed in my name! I told them that she was dead, and they said that they would take my number off their list. I hope this is all they wanted. They did not say who they were, and I really didn't get a chance to ask.

These guys are pretty pathetic, they called me, and tried desparetly to scare me, saying I owe over $10,000 on a card that i've never owned, so I told them I never owned that card, and the guy kept saying well its in your name, so I asked him (and this is the funny part)
    WHEN WAS THE CARD AQUIRED
    HIM:sometime between 2000-2001
    WHERE WAS THE CARD AQUIRED
Him: it's really impossible to tell these things, because it's so easy to get a credit card nowadays (I didn't think I got the card in nowadays, you just said it was 2000-2001..)
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE PURCHASES THAT WERE ON THE CARD
Him: Well these are skeleton files, they are so old it's impossible to tell

Of course this guy gave me the "we can settle rightg now for $1000", but funny it's not on the credit report....I wonder if there is a good reason for this (like the above good reasons) Anway, can't wait to hear back from Old Vic, i'm sure that will be a very intelligent phone conversation without a bunch of choice words

My grandmother retrieved a vm from these guys, staing that my father had an outstanding civil matter in my county (W. Colorado). I called the number back, gave them the claim number, and told them that my father was deceased. The guy put me on hold for about four minutes, then came back. He said: "Thanks for the lead. We will now know where to investigate. Goodbye" and nearly hung on me. I asked what the matter was regarding, and he said that the lead investigator would follow the lead I gave them and call me back. I was flipping out, because my dad is dead, and the estate isn't that much, and a civil case could clear us out. I saw this site, and thank god it's a bunch of Crap

My sister- in -Law received a call from a company whos' name was un inteligable. The message was from a woman who' name she gave as Vanessa Beals. She claimed there was a complaint against me in Sacramento county where I live and said and that I was fully aware of it and left a case # and  phone # 770-881-7088.When she got the message she called my home and gave my adult son the information.I called the # back only because I just recently was asked to be a witness for my company and was supposed to be deposed. I thought the two were affiliated. When I called a man answered with a company name I couldn't understand and asked how he could help me. I said  I don't know, You called me". He asked for a case # and I gave it to him. He then said my full Name and I replied, "Yes, that is me" He then began to tell me about the complaint in my county from  1 st interstate bank from 9 years ago. I have paid this debt off two years ago and have a letter stating so. He again began using threatening words like sheriff, attornies, Subpoeona, and jail. I asked him what place of business I was calling and he replied "Claims America Asset Locators" in Stone Mountain
Ga. I told him I did not owe anyone anything. he began to explain to me in giberish legal terms what they could do to me and my credit if I did not pay this in full ($ 5000.00). He then said " I'll tell you what. I'll talk to the attornies and see if they will settle for $ 700.00. That's when I got hot! I said , in a harsh voice..."Sir! how many other companies am I going to have to pay to make this go away? I'm going to make a few phone calls and inquiries and I'm sure I won't be hearing back from you". he said Okay, and I hung up. I then went to my computer to see if I could find a web site for this company and could not, but I did enter the phone # in google and found this site. I e-mailed the city hall of Stone Mountain Ga. and asked if this company was legitimate. I haven't heard back from them yet. I feel confident that this company is a fraud and is trying to extort money from inocent people trying to protect their credit in this day and age of identity theft. My credit is impecable and I have a high credit score. This debt is nowhere on my credit report, Please be very carefull.

    Wise to Them
The name of the scammer on the other end of a call left a message for my wife on our answering machine was a Ted Butok, although the last name was rather garbled, as was the name of the business.  It's rather interesting that the phone number (770-881-7088) and case number were clear as a bell.  They probably trying to continue a scam against my wife that another so-called "Credit Agency", who's name is White Horse (does that ring a bell with anyone else?)tried to pursue against her about 5-6 years ago.  Anyway, all I have to say to them all is: "Karma will catch up to you!".

    Michigan Resident
I recieved a call from a Mrs. Filler (or at least that's how it sounded) on August 17, 2007 at 7:49 p.m eastern time. Since I didn't regognize the number on my caller ID I did not answer and instead listened as she left a message. They were calling for my father who does not even live at my residence. She said she was from Claims America calling about a complaint that was filed towards him and it is "imparitive that you return my call in regards to this complaint as it goes through the investigative stage. Failure to call this office back will result in a court action that will be filed against you." She also left a case number. She was very arrogant sounding. At first I panicked and I called my boyfriend about it who listened to the message and assured me it was bogus and said if my dad really was going to be sued and/or was late on payments he would have gotten prior written notice in the mail. I also googled the number and found this site. Typical scam. I pray nobody falls victims to these creeps. They are twisted individuals and total lowlifes. Thanks everyone for the info.

    Confused in NJ
Just got a call from a Ms Talor from this claims America place ..... something about some complaint about my father that I haven't seen or spoken to in over 15 years.  I have no clue what it's about but can only guess he owes someone $$$, he always did.  I'm just wondering how in the hell they got my phone number!!!  These people are a peice of work, how dare they call and threaten with a lawsuit!!! I'm glad I missed the call, probably would have told them where to go and gave them some change for the bus.  I had forwarded my cell phone to my home phone so I'm not sure what number they origionally called at the moment either. Trying to pull up my cell phone record as I type this.  REad a post by Michigan Resident who stated that the message left for her said "imparitive that you return my call in regards to this complaint as it goes through the investigative stage. Failure to call this office back will result in a court action that will be filed against you." ..... that's exactly what I was left work for word.

Well these guys are very active and are so out of it..I got a call on anold bank card account my 35 year old son had in 1994.  The credit card account was settled with another collection agency in 1995 and we still had the paperwork to prove it.  This Jim Burk person who did all the threating ..just like those before have said including the court case # said if we would work with him he would do a settlement for $612 instead of the $2,019.62 he said was owed.  He gave me the 770-881.7088 # to call him back in 24 hours or he would take my son to court and my son would pay the whole amount + lawyer fees and court costs.  I will fax him the settlement papers we have, thank God...otherwise we would have probably paid the $612 just to keep our son's credit good.  He has not been able to work a job for several years and lives on a SSDisability.  I hope someone can stop these people!

Thanks for the info...I got the same scam and almost fell for it!  $612 seemed cheap to keep my son's credit in the positive...back in 1994 when the original cc debt was made he was in tough shape and has pulled himself up to a better place.  I'll submit  reports to everywhere I can...thank god for this site and folks like you who take the time to look into this kind of thing.

These people called up and were harrassing my sister-in-law with the same schemes mentioned in other postings here.   Apparently now they have somehow found out we are related, and have begun leaving msgs on my phone.  Never have called them back.   I am going to have my sister-in-law visit the sites above to file complaints, so that we can get these people shut down.
