- Timothy J ShaferThe so-called law firm of O'Connell, Greenman and Assoc. is completely bogus. They called me from Miami for a collection agency in Tacoma about a debt that supposedly was incurred in Pittsburgh. It has no email address, no business address and is not listed with the BBB. They called about an account with Capital One from 2000. I held no credit cards at that time. They threatened me with 2 summons for fraud and intent to commit fraud. They harassed my family and friends. I laugh about it now but I was upset at the time. My advice is: tell them, not so politely, that you know this a scam and that you've reported them to the BBB. I guarantee they'll never bother you again.

- CComfort replies to KimSame firm and damn near same amount from 2000-2007 on a $500 credit card an investment firm bought the debt and now wants $3284.24 for late fees and legal fees, same lady called and answered 3 different numbers, has first 5 digits of SSN but would not give her last 4, said they will not notify you in writing of the case but that you have 2 summons for fraud. whats the recourse on them? is this illegal?
- CComfort replies to DI| 1 replyI have tried blocking the numbers but they keep calling from more, today they called from 301-500-2020, 804-482-4003 and the 786-924-0413. Same messages. I called back the 301 number first and was "disconnected" when being transferred to someone who could help since they did not have any information, they called back from 804 number which I proceeded to tell them to send everything in writing including the old Cap One info since it was 2000-2007 on a $500 limit card they want $3248.86 back now. They identified themselves as O'Connell Greenman & Assoc. I proceeded to call all three numbers back, out of 5 tries the same three people answered various numbers, I received one person on all three numbers in a row. Each time I asked them to tell me who they were and if they represented O'Connell Greenman on the Cap One scam and the poor guy stuttered so bad once he knew someone called him out he didn't even think to hang up, just kept saying um. The lady was very combative and had me repeat the number to her, after I gave it to her she tried to repeat it back to me wrong, she knew I was on to her. When I called her from another one of the numbers I asked her why I just got her from a VA number but the first time was a FL number, no response, she hung up. When she answered the MD number she politely answered using a different intro and company name, when I said "I got you again from a new number" she hung up, now all three numbers are just hanging up as soon as they answer. Morons, I hope they haven't gotten anyone.

- shanda surgeon replies to CComforti am so glad you posted this my fiance got a call from the same 301 number and i called them to ask for a website and they said they don't have one which i thought was very odd then when i called back a woamn picked up and didn't greet with a company name as professionals would do she just said "hello" which i thought was even more odd, they told my fiance he owed $900 fro a $300 payday loan he took out in 2008 ( total lie) he told them he didnt know what they were talking about and asked them if this was true how come it didn't appear on my credit report they said payday loans dont appear on credit reports if they are delinquent ( lie number 2) i then got on the phone and proceeded to ask the woman a bunch of questions which made her become very defensive and somewhat snotty then all of a sudden she passes the phone over to a "RAQUEL WATSON" who defended her fake company but kept saying "we are a call center" blah, blah, blah boy oh boy the world we live in today is such a mess, trying to steal money from innocent people disgusting abd what goes around will surely come back around!!!!
- ValI've been receiving these calls from several different numbers today claiming that my long dead grandmother was going to be arrested for some debt or another. I called the numbers back, though it smelled like a big ol scam, and they claimed to be working for Capital One.
When I called Capital One, however, there was no record of my Grandmother having an account with them. They do not work with any company called "O'Connell, Greenman and Associates", and none of the phone numbers are in any way associated with their company.
When the next call came, I called them back and talked with the woman on the other line who swore up and down that this wasn't a scam, but wouldn't give any information to back up her company's legitimacy. I imagine these people on the phone genuinely have no idea that they're working for a scam company.- Call type: Debt collector

- bb replies to jjcorbett| 2 repliesO'connell, greenman associates have been harrassing me this week.I decided to return their after telling me they had ss for fraudulent behavior with my ss. I asked to have papers that I supposedly owed. They couldn't do it. They said they would email a vop. I did not open it because it said I needed read and sign.
You can not talk with these dummies. They hung up on me 7 times at least. They yelled and asked" what do I want?"
Then I received an email that I had been" served" via email. I was ttold that I had until 2pm the next to pay up which I ignored.
I am a widow on fixed income, disability included. I am presently in rehab from my 5th surgery on the same knee. I have disputed this loan, whuch is why I have asked for papers that I supposedly signed. Never have received anything confirming this. I am told it was in May 2009.
These people here are plainly ignorant. - Badge714 replies to bbSince you did receive something from them, do you have a name, address, and phone number? Check out the forum on this site & you will see copies of letters you can mail to them. Send it certified mail, with proof of delivery. In the letter TELL them you dispute this loan & send proof, or cease & desist. Also, 2009 is 5 years ago. This loan may be State barred for collection. Do a web search on your State for Statute of Limitations on debt. Last word - You CANNOT be 'served' by email.
- mon replies to SO LOST| 2 repliesI had Greenman and Associates call me about an old pay day loan threatening to serve with papers, but they can't validate the depth. They could only provide me with an email of the amount they wanted me to pay. They first called me from Chicago and when I told them I had searched this number and had fraud reports they started to call me from a 214 number. Can they really come to my job to serve me? I called my county and the gentleman told me it sounded like someone was trying to collect a dept. If someone is going to serve you they don't call to tell you.

- sonyaThese ppl have been harassing me, my parents and my siblings. Telling them that I hae two open cases against me for fraudulent activity and for trying to scam a financial institute. They said they will email me the documents and if they don't appear in my inbox look in my spam folder. I asked, why would such important documents be in my spam folder? She proceeded to explain to me but I didnt buy it. I must admit I fell for this last summer because I was told I committed a felony. I paid these ppl over $500.00. "Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me"
