- jd| 1 replyWe keep getting hang-up calls from this number. A couple days ago we answered, but nothing but dead air. Then for the next several hours we were unable to make or receive phone calls.
Unaware of who had called, we called our land phone company - CenturyLink. They set up a technician call and recommended disconnecting/reconnecting our land line. When the lines began working, we had static, then today, reverb/echo. It seems to be working correctly now however, when I brought this information to the CenturyLink operator, he claimed he was unaware of any issues with that particular 800 number and also claimed he did not know to whom that number belonged. (Called ID shows "Not provided" when they call)
What the hell, right? We continue to get about 2-3 calls a day from this 800/not-provided number. If you get a similar call, advice is DO NOT ANSWER!!!- Caller: Centrury Link? (maybe)
- Robert| 3 replies1-866-397-3641 called me with a recorded message asking that I call an 800 number (1-800-201-4099) becuase centurylink received return mail from me and they want to verify my address. I'm no fool so I called centurylink and they do not have a system like this in place. Total scam to get your address, they already have your phone number so this is a total scam.
I do have to wonder though if there is a leak in century links database files because I am a century link customer. Something to wonder about!
None the less this is a total scam!!!!! don't give up your information!- Caller: Said they were Century Link
- Shannon| 1 replyThe Caller ID reads "CSOLMAN_Dugas,". This was a call from CenturyLink telephone company. I had ordered basic phone service with no long distance for a friend's house. I've had service with them before with no problems. They are telling me that they need a $25 deposit before they will turn the phone on. They will however take a $10 deposit if I put a collect call/ 3rd party call block on the phone. What is the sense in a freakin $10 deposit? The phone service is $15 a month. So, even if I didn't pay the bill one month the $10 deposit wouldn't cover it. So stupid! Just enough to aggravate me and delay the phone getting turned on.

- fedup| 2 repliesThere's something wierd about this number. I'm getting emails that appear to be from CenturyLink, but don't think they are. I did a "reply" on the email, got another email in return telling me it was a no answer box but I could contact CenturyLink in several ways, one of which is this telephone number, 800-201-4049. That's different from the number I was just given for customer support after contacting CenturyLink on their website and using Live Chat. The real number I was given is 800-788-3500. I called it about the spoof email, but they offered no assistance, and said the email didn't come from them.
The email looked like a bill, and it showed the amount of my last payment. How does anybody know what my last payment was other than CenturyLink employees? - Fedup replies to fedupWell, I tried calling the number in the email, and the operator says the number has been disconnected. That says it all, definitely a scam.
- Fedup replies to Jeanette Hawkinson| 12 repliesThis is not a CenturyLink number, its a scam. Don't give them any information.
- GrannyIt is a Century Link number. We had a problem with our Internet service and kept getting disconnected from live chat. They called me from 800-201-4099 to let me know the problem would be resolved within 24 hours. It was repaired within an hour.
- CustomerI just got a call from this number and it IS a Century Link number. Im late on a bill and its to be shut off which im about to pay but either way its a call they do to remind you if yoru service is to be interupted or if someone is calling to make a payment or has made a payment they will call you from this number as well. if your not a customer just answer and tell them to stop or just block the number with your phone company. I however dont get tons of calls from them so I dont know as to why some of you are unless a bill is far behind....hope that helps some.
- Caller: Century Link
- bugdoland replies to RobertI am wondering the same think (about a leak in centurytel data base) because 2 days ago i updateded my profile with centurylink and gave them my cell number as perfered l# to call. now im getting calls from this # on my cell, never happened before??? Centurylink needs to get on top of this. I plan on letting them know!
oh and phone scamers if caught should be locked in a room with about 20 phones ringing 24-7 and cant be shut off!! - LynI got a call telling me my bill had come back to them through the US Post Office and asking me to call and give the correct billing address. I knew this wasn't true because I just paid the latest bill electronically. Whay hasn't ther US Post office got these guys for mail fraud?
- Jbuck3 replies to FedupYes it is CenturyLink

- Gayle| 1 replyI just received a call from this # (800-201-4099) with a Caller ID of "CRP SHRC Gully" whatever that means. No msg left, so there's no way to know if it's related to CenturyLink, as some have posted. My voice mailbox is "answered" by my dog and it really cuts down on the # of telemarketing calls/msgs left.
- Caller: CRP SHRC Gully
- Mar replies to Robert| 1 replyI new to century link also, they call me all the time now, I'm sick of it. I came home today and now I'm getting calls from 800-201-4099, so I google it and looky here! it's century link AGAIN! I'm bout ready to cancel with them. This is stupid.

- teacherdanI verified this number by calling the 866-768-1847 CenturyLink Business Customer Service number from their website. The person identified herself as a representative, with her full name and when I asked for her employee number she gave it. I asked her to call me back. She did, and the number (800-201-4099) showed up on Caller ID as CenturyLink Business and the correct phone number. I called 800-201-4099 and asked the representative to verify her name and employee number and she did so.
It is possible that someone is hacking this number for their own nefarious interests. Our company policy is that when called by someone wanting to "save us money" or "help with billing" we are to hang up, and call the verified numbers we have. Never have had a problem doing things that way.- Caller: CenturyLink Business
