With the intention of reporting to the US Post Office, I called the number on the post card described above:  800-409-8629, $1MM, from JT Communications, Westbrook ME 04098.

After answering a few automated questions - age, state of residence - I was "awarded" a $2k accidental life insurance policy, free of charge, and transferred to a live agent.  The agent stated she worked for Stonebridge  Life Insurance.  I then hung up, stating that I didn't (then) know enough about the company.

An internet search shows that Stonebridge Life is part of Transamerica Insurance, and has an "aa-" rating from AM Best - not too bad.

It's the kind of company you might want to do business with - if they did advertise themselves like a scam.  Or maybe spam you forever, or sell your personal information to other marketers.

Received apostate today with same info.  Just remember nothing is free and if it sounds to good to be true, it usually is.

I received the same postcard as you Angela, from JT Communications; I did a google search of the phone number and it doesn't identify where the number comes from.  I'm throwing my postcard in my recycle bin.

My mother received a postcard that jewelry was waiting at the post office for her. All she had to do was call 800-276-6472 and pay $8.95. I told her not to do it because something did not sound right. She is ignoring the postcard as well. Just a new way to scam ppl. The card says it is from National Parcel Services. Can not even find anything on them with an internet search.

Received the same card, thought I'd check on it ... thanks to all of you, it can be filed #13.  Insurance companies must be getting desperate to go through all this trouble; but seems like a lot of companies are going this route.  Try seeking for jobs on the internet, you get colleges calling you instead of job placements!!

I get those lottery scratch cards in the mail all the time. Know what? Every card wins. Isn't that something? Then there is the 1-866 number to call, letting them know they 'got a live one' all ready to be fleeced. Hope you come up with an idea to help your Mom.

I got the same post card but a different phone number.  Thought I'd check the internet before I did anything.  At first I thought it might be the watches one caller indicated they were going to send me because I couldn't take them up on the weekend away.  But the possibility of it being a scam makes sense.  Thanks everyone.
