- Dark JesterGot a call myself today from 'Matthew', claiming to be with Microsoft. Being a Microsoft employee myself, I searched the Company's address book for 'Matthew' only to come up completely empty. Reading the other comments though, it looks to be related to Trial Software downloads, which I did one of last week.
I don't think that it's really a 'scam'. Just a sales/survey call.
They used to do this stuff in-house, but they have outsourced a lot over the last few years.- Caller: Microsoft 3rd Party Marketer
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Jason replies to sherifYeah I got a call from this guy too. Microsoft is really taking a new tact on telemarketing, eh?

- masdbI got the same call, 800-215-0948#4044 and i think her name was Crystal. after reading this page, i didn't call them back. the only trail i used so far is windows 7 but I don't recall leaving my number there.
- micro softieTwo messages from Mike Teller, 800-215-0948 x4287. He did not indicate that he had any idea who he was calling, said he was from Microsoft and to call him back. Not nearly as interesting as the email from Microsoft (Nigerian division) saying they were sending me $800,000 and all I had to pay to get it was $200 or so.
- ChrisGot a call, spoke to someone at Microsoft's Biz Dev division asking about my recent MS Office trial. Explained that I just needed a redownload and already had a key. No big deal, just asking if I needed anything with the trial.
- Caller: Microsoft
- Call type: Unwanted
- anti-telemarketing replies to Generalgrievous| 1 replythey were calling to see if you can be assisted while doing the trial, and if you can, and do not have a rep they can help get you in contact with one. This is a service that Microsoft provides to businesses and if you are a business there are significant benefits to it. Providing you are a business for thy will do nothing for personal needs. I am a business owner and I will use them again whenever they will call. I had so much out of this service that I would recommend it to anybody. They will put you in touch with the real Microsoft. You would be out of mind not to take advantage of this.
- xminusoneReceived a call at 8:10 am EST (wasn't even awake yet) from Mike Teller at Microsoft. Handed wife the phone, she wrote down his number: 1 (800) 215-0948. End result: "He said to call him back."
- Caller: Microsoft
- TJI got a call from Bill about the trial server software that I downloaded. Just wanted to know if everything was okay with my download, and to see if I had any questions.

- RobinI got a call from Jennifer at 800-215-0948 x 4179. I thought she was calling to see why I've been cashing in my Msoft stock. Glad I checked this site before wasting my time to call her back.
- Caller: Microsoft
- GardenerPerson calls early in a.m. says they are from Allied Packaging and have a lot of packages in front of them and wants to know who I am. I ask who they want and they hang up on me. Other times when I answer they just hang up. Received 6 calls. I called the number back twice, the first time a woman answered and said "Allied Packaging", then hung up the phone. The Second time I called, she answered by saying "hello" and I asked her "who's this", like she did to me. She answered Miss Baker.
- Caller: Allied Packaging
- The Net SecureThis is a microsoft sales call, but this is worth your time. They will call if you recently downloaded a trial of a server product. If you're seriously interested in that product call them, they can cut you a good deal, and the call is short and sweet.
TheNetSecure.org- Caller: Microsoft

- MikeCalled by Ryan "in behalf of Microsoft." Did not give reason for call but probably a callback regarding Exchange Online trial or inquiries I made via online chat with MS rep. He gave the 800 number as a return number but the caller ID was (315) 703-8560

- rideordiechicAsked for a Jeff (there is no Jeff at our location) 800-215-0948 x4148
- guestThey called me today, the phone was sitting directly in front of me but the call was gone by the time I picked it up, only trace was 80021509484043 on my missed call log
- Nick JacklesonIf this call was really from Microsoft, I'm Bill H. Gates! I have a feeling this is one of those "Microsoft Bronze Certified "Equivalent" Partner" type of software clearing houses. They're probably targeting non-technology companies that aren't on Windows 7 and Office 10 yet, just to dump overpriced licenses for their soon to be dated software on these unsuspecting companies.
- Caller: Honest Javier's Software
- MS Project's Endless PossibilitiesI had downloaded MS Project 2010 to see what was new. I was asked if I had plans to buy MS Project 2010 - it sounded initially like a sales pitch. I'm sure he was promoting the product, but didn't give him time to tell me why he was really calling - I proceeded immediately to tell him what I thought of the latest release. We talked for about 20 minutes.
I have been called by Microsoft in the past, and all calls have been legitimate - they have even sent me free software for taking the time to participate in suveys - I still use the software today.
From my conversation, I feel the call is legitimate, but because I don't need help with the product and because of how I directed the conversation, did not determine if he was going to; 1) offer assistance, 2) find out what I thought of the product, or 3) try to sell me the latest release, or 4) all three of the previous options. I suspect #4 is the most likely option - all three.of the previous options.- Caller: Microsoft or designated Partner/Agent
- Call type: Survey
- GrannyPantiesduh. got this call too, but really irks me is that it wasn't showing up on caller id as being from ms (i think it keeps saying texas), and two, 'travis' @ x4055 mumbled into the phone so badly and spoke so dang fast that i had to replay his message 10 times to get the prefix number! finally just guessed at it.
sigh- i thought they wanted to tell me that they were going to hire me.- Caller: MS
- Call type: Telemarketer
- NotConvinced replies to anti-telemarketingThe previous message was probably left by an employee of the telemarketing company that owns this number (not Microsoft). If they were legitimately calling on behalf of Microsoft they would state what prompted them to call you. Anytime someone leaves a vague message like this it usually because they are fishing for information.
