I have been beta testing for years. Only calls resulting from Microsoft for that was really bad bugs and the developer wanting to talk to me. Do check out http://connect.microsoft.com and be sure that the privacy settings are correct. They may have added a option for 3rd parties...

Mike Teller @ 1-800-215-0948 xtn 4287 left a message claiming to be with Microsoft - bottom line? It is a ploy that debt collection agencies use to check to see if there is a real person at the end of the phone number (your phone number) they constantly call and call and call and call, etc. etc. etc.

When the caller ID indicates: "Unknown Name / Unknown Number" it is more than likely a debt collector looking for a person who they think the number belongs to - the phone company recycles phone numbers, so your number may have been used at one time by a deadbeat. So, said debt collection agency is trying to track said person down to collect money.  "Mike Teller" probably works for a debt collection agency that has tried and tried the number, so they use this ploy to hopefully have someone pick up on the other end (or return the call).  Private investigators use this ploy all the time and police departments round up criminals when the criminal receives a "hey you just won" type calls.

Invest in caller ID, don't pick up calls from "Unknown Name / Unknown Number" calls, and definitely don't return calls to "Mike Teller @ Microsoft" (or pick up "his" call when his number shows up on your caller ID.

800-215-0948, no extension, weirdly enough.  "Dorothy Haber" called, using my real name, and asked me to call back.  Of course it was impossible to call back, given that the "0" option would not work, even though the 800-number menu gave it as an option.  I'm an MSDN subscriber.  I think they're a contractor or have even more tenuous ties with MS, though Ms. "Haber" identified herself as calling from Microsoft.

I got a call from this number and man calling said "He was calling ON BEHALF of Microsoft." There is nothing wrong with this as I downloaded their Office demo and I guess they were a telemarketing company doing a sales follow up. All perfectly legit if you took the demo and gave them your number. This call does not violate DNC rules as there is a prior association between the two of you. Sorry, nothing "free" is ever totally free!

It's legit. I think they follow up any trial software downloads with a call to see if you are enjoying the product, having problems with the product, and when do you plan on purchasing the product. Don't let all these paranoid people scare you.  Debt collectors, that guy is an idiot.

I have never given my cell phone number to anyone except my immediate family.

There is no way that Microsoft could have obtained my cell phone number legally.

Sales concerning Microsoft Office365. They'll call multiple times in a row. But I had already subscribed. He asked why I had inquired about the demo again. Not sure how that happened.
