I started received texts about "interesting facts".  Then I got my bill - it charged me $9.99 for this text service.  I called my son who works for Alltel.  He informed me that this was not Alltel charging my account.  It was an outside service.  He told me that I should respond to the text message that I wanted to unsuscribe.  I did this on 2-01-09.  The end of February I got my next month's Alltel bill, and the charge was there again.  This time I called the toll-free number that was attached to the "unsuscribe" text that I had saved.  I only got a voice response system, and through choosing options was able to select "unsuscribe".  I also was able to select option # to ask for a person to call back as I want to ask for a credit on the previous two months bills.  This is not Alltel or Verizon charging us for this service.  They are unable to fix it.  Somebody needs to report this "3rd party service" to the feds.

I too took the IQ Quiz and entered my phone number so they could text me my score. Shortly after I received some spam texts. I immediately unsubscribed. I was never charged because I unsubscribed. I think there is a trial period before they charge you. If you do not unsubscribe before the trial you will be charged.

Though it's pretty ironic this happening while taking an IQ Test. For us to get caught up in this spam scam I guess our IQ is not as high as we thing, lol. However I did maintain some of my IQ because I caught it right away.

I think it is linked to Myspace (probably among others) - I started getting these after my daughter convinced me to set up a page. There's an area where it says things like "14 of your friends think you're an idiot." Which I suppose is true if you follow the links and give a stranger your cell #. I idn't on that exact link, but there was another, more innocuous page where I did. Dummy.

Fortunately, I use Tracfone, so I don't get charged for these. Unfortunately, I can't fo to to their website and block the number; they don't do that. I am going to try to "unsubscribe" using the suggestions on this forum.

I got an unsolicited text from 84287:
    >>>PIN=XXXX<<< Enter PIN on website to get your IQ score and Facts. Txt HELP 4help or 18002357105 9.99/month OherChgsMayAply Txt STOP 2end

No website indicated in text. I never did any quizs online, and even if I had I wouldn't enter my phone number. If I start getting charges I'll report them to the FCC. As it is, unsolicited text messages are illegal afaik.
