- Ola| 8 repliesGiven this number by person claiming to be from Windows technical support. He claimed that he knew that my computer had a trojan horse because the server recognized it and reported it to Windows tech support. Sounded like a scam of some sort
- Caller: Microsoft Windows Tech Support

- RobinlbGot a call around 9pm my time from a man named "Kevin" from Windows Tech Support demanding I log into my computer immediately so he could prevent a complete crash of my computer. He stated I was already compromised and my computer was severely compromised. I asked for a number and he gave me 800-247-0830. I asked him if I would have to actually own a windows computer - that got him flustered and he hung up.

- MS| 2 repliesI looked up the company on the web. Appears to be a legit company. Spoke to someone on live chat, and asked if their company solicited business in this manner. They asked for my phone number and I received a call from the person that had originally called me. If this is their way of conducting business, I want no part of them. Ask them to put you on their DO NOT CALL LIST. Website: www.imaxsupport.com. Company business is I-Max Support.
- Caller: I-Max Support

- Tamianth replies to MS| 1 replyFrom the posts above.. its another scam outfit.. Be very careful, these outfits are really showing up bad, and their ads are preempting the real Microsoft web site and support contact pages online. Just because they have a web a page, doesn't make them legit. And Microsoft does not cold call you period! There is no way they can get any info coming from your computer as they mention in the previous posts. It doesn't work that way..

Gunnar - BH replies to TamianthReceived a call from Brad Smith. He said he was from Windows and that they were receiving error messages from my computer. He also said that 75% of my software was not working. he wanted me to log into my computer and follow his directions. I told him I was busy and asked for a number to call him back. He gave me 1-800-247-0830. Of course I did not call back and instead did some research. I have not been having any software problems.
- DirdHad the same call claiming to be with Windows Technical Support.
- Ed KufeldtReceived a call the number appeared as unknown on caller ID. A man named Shaun Nickson claimed to be working for Microsoft Tech support. The number he gave was 1-800-247-0830 IMAX support USA.
He used windows viewer and showed me bunch of errors and stopped Windows processes. After paying them $299,99 and two hours of watching them install some valid and some unsupported software, I realized they now had a valid credit card and security number. I then realized I had been scammed.- Caller: IMAX support
- r l replies to kLjust got a call from same number man said he was jack and that my computer would crash. if I did not fix it. Hung up on him
- chesterWas an unknown number on caller id. I answered said the same as above, only I had stated to him what kind of scam is this? He said who the hell is saying this is a scam? I said you just gave yourself away as a true agent wouldn't sware. I let him know I don't have a computer registered to take me off his call list. Get this he told me to go F$#@ myself and called me a S.O.B. I said that is enough and hung up. THAT IS NO WAY OKAY TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE and will be reporting this to phone company. This is a scam in my book.
- GMK| 1 replyI was scammed by iMax Support. I paid $150 for 2-yr plan. Now I am working with VISA to stop payment and challenge the legitimacy of the charges and services provided. I am such an idiot !!
- Caller: iMax Support
- WilliamI sure wish I had seen this post before I got involved with these scammers. Same thing happened to me, After being shown all these errors on my computer and being told that MicroSoft works with Imax Support to help solve these issues I went ahead and paid for their services....But, the story only gets better, For even though they IMAX wanted to work with my screen blacked out, I went through Task Manager and turned the screen on and lo and behold there was a web site from Western Union on my screen. Of course you know what I thought....what the f..k? I immediately called my credit card company and cancelled the card before any real damage could be done. I got all my funds back on the 4th of March. Two days ago THEY (imax) called again and said it was a mistake they should not have refunded my money and wanted my new card number. THese people have nerve and I'd like to personally have them arrested but they are out of country.

- susi QThey called claiming to be from tech support and compromised my parents computer. I am planning to report them. Any advice as to the steps to get the computer up and running again?
- Wise NanaThey phoned saying they were from Microsoft; later changed it to "a support company licensed by Microsoft," and finally said the name was Imax Support and gave the number 800-247-0830. They claimed my computer was "reporting" to their server that I was running a virus. When I asked "which virus?" he said "a trojan horse." When I asked "which trojan horse?" there was silence. I asked him to spell the name of the trojan horse for me. Silence. Then he tried to get me to give him access to my computer so he could "fix" it. I've gotten two calls from the same person this week and told him both times to remove my number from their list (I'm also registered on the "do not call" list.) Don't EVER give access to your computer or any private information or credit card numbers, etc., to anyone who calls you on the phone. If you really need computer help, research a reliable, known company and call them.

- Wise Nana replies to GMKNo, you're not an idiot. These people are trained to be very persuasive. Just remember in future, you don't need anything that some stranger on the phone tries to sell you. When you need something, you know how to go get it, whether it's a pair of shoes or a computer repair. Good luck to you.
