If you call the number back, a message states that you have called a non-working 800 number.

Our engineering firm received a call from the 800-247-4047 number also claiming to be from the Washington State "business development office" are the same question about relocation.  The important thimg about these calls is NEVER response with either a "Yes" or a "No" to any question.  Scam companies like this can edit your answer to fit as a response to another question which might be accepting some kind of unwanted service.

Same phone number, called last week representing State of Texas, today they are representing City of Austin. When pressed to answer the question "who are you and why do you want to know if we are moving?", the woman hung up.

I've gotten a few of these call at our office, but the most recent was rather amusing. The minute I heard the caller say they were from the "Economic Development Office" I hung up as usual. This time, though, the scammer called back and asked me why I hung up on him. When I said "because your business doesn't exist" and hung up again, he called back again. I think they called a total of 6 times in a row before finally giving up.

Just received a call from 800-247-4047.  Lady said she was from the State of Florida Department of Development and needed to know if we have moved to our new offices.....  I simply told her we were not even interested in moving much less find the new offices.  She just said "OK I'll make a note of that"....   Obviously some sort of scam.  Unfortunately, we can't block numbers here.

She had a Filipino (or Asian) accent and was actually very courterous but beware of the nice ones...

I would so love to call them bad the guy called me a F...ing  A...hole!

clueless telemarketer ~ horrible english ~ yet had no problem calling back over 15 times after I hung up to tell my " I Am Dying " ~ haha, (yup I am, everyday little by little I say) ~ and wanted to know if I knew where my husband is?? haha! ( what husband ? ) funny she was able to speak those statements in plain english... Moron, get a real job..

Just received a call from a woman claiming to be Amanda from the State of Texas Economic Development Office.  She wanted to know if our office had found a new location because their records show that we are planning on moving.  I tried to get some information from her, but she hung up.  

SCAM!  SCAM!  SCAM!

Maybe placing them on hold and leaving the call would solve the issue...

This is a total scam! Same old song and dance.. Calling from the Business Development office of Oregon....

DO NOT CONFIRM ANY INFORMATION!

This number, 800-247-4047, said they represented the Illinois Business Association and asked if my company had moved yet.  If you try to call the number back a recording tells you the number is disconnected.

Got a call from this number and they were insistent on talking to the owner. After being told that they were not here, they wanted to know where they were and we hung up on them. They called right back, and asked why we hung up, and we hung up again. Again they called, and this time another fellow answered the phone, and the person on the other end told our employee to go to hell.

This number 800 247-4707 called my office yesterday and they hang up immediately, when I answered the call.  I wish these people can be caught and they pay their illegal activities.  If you phone has a reject feature, it is always good to put their number so any time they call - they will get rejected.

Got similar phone call this morning in Montreal area.  Woman with an accent, claiming to be from Business Development Office, asking if we have found a new office.  When I asked for clarification, she asked me if I was aware that our office was moving and I said No, she mumbled something and hung up.

Located in Markham ON. Same as above post. Woman who was speaking in a low garbled accent, asked when we were moving. Didn't understand her line of questioning: When are you moving?,... moved?,.. have moved?.... about to move?..thinking of moving?.. and so on. Short questions in rapid succession, than abrubtly ended the phone call and said goodbye

I receive these calls semi-regularly, asking if we still have plans to move...total scam, there is no government office under that name.

This time, instead of hanging up, I asked for a number I could call their office back at...as soon as I got off the line, I called the number -- it was the next number on their calling list!  The person who answered told me one of their co-workers was receiving a similar call at that time.

A woman with an accent called from (800) 247-4047 saying she was calling from the State of Callifornia and asking questions about my business.  I got suspicious and refuse to answer questions and she hang up.

I called back to the number and got a recording that it was disconnected.

Just received the exact same call as described here. Sounded like an older Asian lady, heavy accent (perhaps Indonesian or Filipino) asking if we had found a new location yet.
Asked her where she was calling from:  Washington State Business Development Office.
She kept asking the same question, and I kept not answering it.
When I asked if I could call her back, she muttered "hello? hello?" to make it sound like she had lost connection. Sh the hung up.

Feel sorry for these scam artists. What a way to make a living, always having to look over your shoulder.
There's gonna be a day when one of those scammers pays with his life. And no one will be sorry about it.

We are a Massachusetts Corporation with offices in the Boston Metropolitan area.   Got a call from 800 247 4047 and female caller with strong Indian accent identified herself as calling from the "Massachusetts Office of Economic Development" and starting asking many questions.  I asked where she was calling from and she repeated she was with the Massachusetts Office of Economic development.  I asked where she was located and she said the name of my town where I am located so I said, "Oh perfect! - I'm headed to town center shortly so I'll swing by your office to discuss this more" and she immediately hung up.

We also received one. Def. a scam of some sort....
