I have also got a call from theis number asking if we are still planning on moving.

Second call from this number in the last week or so.
Same question: "asking if we are still planning on moving" - very suspicious.
Said she was from Business Bureau, but when I asked her what her address was she gave me some bull answer and hung up.
Probably some sort of identity scam.

They claim to be from "The State of Michigan Business Development Office."  When I said I wouldn't answer their questions the woman (with a foreign accent) said "whatever" and hung up.

Claimed they were from the "State of Oregon", wanted to know if we were still planning to move. I asked him why would you think we were planning to move.
He was calling from a land far, far away.

we've been getting calls from this company a few times a week over the last 5 months asking if we are moving. They identify themselves as a Better Business, Chamber of Commerce, etc. They always hang up on us when we ask for more information and ask to be taken off their call list. They are extremely rude.

We have received numerous phone calls from this number asking us when we will be moving. We have asked them to take us off their list. We have asked to speak to a supervisor and the person on the phone said they were the supervisor. When we would get strong with them on the phone in trying to understand why they keep calling, they hang up on us. This is ridiculous. We are trying to get enough information to report them to the Better Business Bureau. They say they're from the State of Oregon, though some of these people have a pretty thick accent, don't know if that means anything though.

Yeah, we've been getting them for about a year, they claim to be from the State of Illinois.  Every time they call, I get nastier and nastier when I tell them to remove me from their calling list.

Got a call from 800-247-4047 claiming from Washington state relocation office asking if we are planning to move (slight accent). I said that we are not planning to move and have been at the same address for sometime. I said that I am not planning to move and the conversation ended.

I received a call from them claiming to be the "Business Development Office" I asked of where, she replied "Of State of Florida".  She sounded filipino. I was asked the same question about whether or not I had found a place to relocate to. I said I wasn't planning, then she said ok, and hung up.

We are getting the same phone calls here in Canada.  The people, with accents, are asking the same questions.  I too have told them that we own our new building and do not plan on moving.  When I have asked for a supervisor, as I am getting 4 to 6 calls per week, the caller tells me they are the supervisor.  When I tell the supervisor I have requested our number be removed from their caller list, I am hung up on.  What kind of scam this is, I don't know.  It's fishy and annoying.

Is there anyone we can contact to find out where exactly these calls are coming from and what they are really after, ie. keeping you on the line to rack up minutes / dollars ????

I'm tired of this call. I get it a couple of times a day at our business. Same number 1-800-247-4047.  I totally have them down pat too and they know it.  Everytime they start to call and say i'm so and so with the washington state business develop...i interrupt and say NOT moving and I HANG UP!  see how they like it.  Im tired of them hanging up on me. REDICULOUS! I dont know how they can get away with that and what kind of business would let their employee's hang up on potential customers like that routinly.  No wonder they are scrounging for business!

I received a call from 800-247-4047 from a woman named Anne with a very strong Indian accent. I asked her to repeat where she was calling from and she said The State of California Business Development Office and she asked to verify my business address. I informed her that I do not verify any information over the phone and asked for her employee ID number. She said she was in a confidential department, yeah right! So I told her I would be contacting the state to find out if this "department" really existed and if not I would report her to the authorities. She hung up on me. I have had very stupid employees in the past who verify our address then you get charges anywhere from $9.99 to $49.99 on your phone bill every month and they just hope that your business is so big you won't notice, which we didn't until the economy turned around and we had to cut costs. Once they get you to verify your address they record you and say that is their authorization. The phone company will stop charging you but they will not refund the money. You have to jump through hoops to get it done too. The authorities don't do anything about it either. Be careful.

I received a call today claiming they were from the State of Texas Business Development Office. It sounded suspicious, but I did not check on them until after the call and then found these postings.  Does anyone know level of crime (local, state, or federal) to misrepresent themselves this way?

Just put a block on your phone account for them to block Third Party Billing, then that won't ever happen again. I also block 900 #'s, collect calls, and used to block payphones, yet lately with new phone people, they dont seem to know how to do that now. I also do not accept calls from Internet Relays. Wish I could block those too. Put a password on your Utilities too.

They just called saying they were from the state of oregon and wanting to know if we have found a new business location. CREEPY We did just move into our office a year ago but this is an OBVIOUS scam. The state nor the city would call from a 800 number.

They call our office claiming to be the State of Texas Business Development Office.  I keep telling them we have no plans to move and ask them to take our name off their call list but they still keep calling.
