- Whitney replies to Stephanie| 8 repliesI got a call this morning from them as well, they are called Sunshine Vacations out of Dublin. They said that I signed up for a contest at a Columbus Clippers game and they had good news for me! So I called them back and I was told to ask for a lady and the person on the phone said that she could take care of me, they didnt ask for any of my information but what address I wanted to trip booked under and I just needed to come in and talk to them and I would get free plane tickets for two and a 3 night cruise to the Bahammas porting from Florida. All we would have to pay for was porting charges around $189 per person. So when I got off the phone, I got on the net and started looking them up. They are not on the BBB and there isnt a date as to when they started the company. My boyfriend and I are not really sure to even go down there to get any information! Anyone that could help that has went there would be great! Thanks!!
- allbymyself replies to JENSo, the catch is that you only have to spend an hour in your office? Nothing to pay up front? Sounds too good to be true.
- chyna28us replies to Whitney| 6 repliesThis is what I found out. They are with the BBB. You can goto this site http://nepa.bbb.org/WWWRoot/Report.aspx?site=111&bbb=0181&firm=10012488 and see for your self.
- chyna28us replies to AnnaI went to the BBB to check them out. they got complaints is true but they fixed them. Ant what business has never had one.http://nepa.bbb.org/WWWRoot/Report.aspx?site=111&bbb=0181&firm=10012488
- drew replies to teri| 1 replyi just got the call and decided to look it up. the funny thing was that the drawing they said i won was at a brewers game in september. i live in st. louis and havent been to a brewers game in about 4 years...that is BS
- hockeyguy| 3 repliesThey called me several times over the past few weeks leaving a voice mail. I NEVER answer my phone from numbers I don't know. Immediately looked up the number and found all of this wonderful information. (Thank you!)
Finally got another call today and actually answered. Again, same bull. I won a free vacation for filling out information at a Columbus Bluejackets game. However, on the company's website, the Columbus Bluejackets aren't listed has a partner! SHOCKING, I know.
Anyways, regardless of what the company is, what they can or cannot offer, I wasn't and will not be interested. Being very polite on the phone I asked the woman to take my information off her records and not to call me again. The response I got was very rude. I could hear the nervousness in her voice as she was losing patience with me as I kept telling her "NO." In a rude demeanor, she said "Whatever" and hung up.
Now, regardless of the format of the telephone call, you called to "Market" your company and get your name out there. That is called "Telemarketing." Telemarketing is not limited to selling things of interest. If I called up a company to tell them about myself as a potential employee, that is marketing through the telephone; Telemarketing.
It may be an honest, tried and true company, and they MAY have the best vacation deals and whatnot, but frankly, I do not want to sit for an hour while you High pressure me into something I don't care for at this moment. It's the holidays and I have more important things to do with my time and money than go on a "free" vacation.
By the way, anyone know the name and number of the owner of this company? I'd like to report his rude employee! (Not that he would care. He'd probably try and get me into the office for an hour and tell me I won a free vacation package which I have to drop a few hundred on before hand)- Caller: Sundance Vacations
- Call type: Telemarketer
- Mike replies to JENNot a timeshare. A violation of the federal and pennsylvania do not call list laws.
- cbusOH| 1 replyThe company is Sunshine Vacations and after reading some of their reviews I'm going to stay as far away as I can. They called me claiming I'd won a vacation to the Bahamas. When I asked them what the cash value was of my "prize", they said there was no cash value but that I could sell it once I completed everything and paid the port taxes, etc. No thanks. This is a headache waiting to happen(and probably to come once I tell them I am not coming to their presentation)
Bottomline: Nothing in life is free. If you want to take a nice vacation, save your money and go through a reputable agent or just book the trip yourself. If it was a legitimate prize, there would be an option of either taking the prize or its cash value.- Caller: Sunshine Vacations

- Presley replies to chyna28us| 5 repliesI too have received two phone calls about a trip to the bahama's. I called them today and talked to some lady named diane who said I could pick up my tickets at the tuttle crossing mall. I'm really confused about all this because I never fill out entry forms at the mall. All I know is that I smell bulshit and I think it would be hilarious if somehow everyone who received a call from this number could meet up and go "pick up our tickets" together and just own the [***] out of these people. I just got a call back from this diane lady and I scheduled to go pick up my tickets at five pm at the dublin location. There's no way this is legit and I'm celebrating the fact that my fiance's Dad is a lawyer.
- Tom replies to Presley| 3 repliesSo has anyone ever actully got anyhting from these people or do they make you come in there and listen to their crap and give you nothing?
- AlexJust recieved a phone call this morning with extention number 682. When I called back, I asked for that extention, but they were busy, so the person who answered wanted to help me. (No name given) But the message was Sunshine Vacations, and the person answered Sundance Vacations.
They made it very clear that I hadn't won anything, and that this was an offer to get a cruise on Royal Carribian in the Bahammas. $1200 worth of vacation, just for sitting and listening to their services for 1 hour. I told the caller that I already owned a timeshare (which she interrupted me and said they weren't selling time shares), and I stated "I didn't say you did sell them". I continued how I already had vacations planned out, and I wasn't interested in any vacation services. She then switched to the whole "You can give this as a gift" line. I finally told her it wasn't worth the hassle, and she disgustedly and rudely said "Goodbye" and hang up. I tried to be polite, but they obviously don't take rejection well.- Caller: Sunshine/Sundance Vacations

- NPL replies to JEN| 1 replyThat is correct. You are NOT a Travel Agency
You are SCAM ARTISTS - Pete replies to Tom| 2 repliesI recently attended one of these sales pitches with Sunshine Vacations. The thing you need to understand going in is that it is an aggressive sales campaign. If you have the stomach for it, it's not a bad gig. The deal they are selling actually sounded really good if you can front the money or are willing to go on a payment plan. You have to be willing to be flexible with your vacation plans. We did not buy.
We took our two CBJ tickets and coupon for the free cruise & 2 round trip airfares. You have to pay taxes, port fees, etc which comes to around $200/person, but that is about what you would pay for tickets to Miami from Columbus, so the cruise itself is virtually free (drinks, gratuity not included). You have to register within 60 days and there is a $100 non-refundable deposit that will be applied against the taxes & fees. After that, you have a year to book the cruise, but again need to be flexible with your dates.
The sales guy I got was a great guy, not too much pressure. He understood from the beginning that there was no way we were going to budge (I was recently laid off). They do bring in a manager to make a harder pitch, but my sales guy picked a manager he knew would go easy on us. We chewed the fat, discussed some options and were out of there in about an hour as told we would be.
I was skeptical going in. I had looked Sunshine Vacations up on line and seen a few ripoff reports, complaints, etc and kind of braced myself going in for a bad experience. I don't know if we just got lucky with our sales rep, but I was pleasantly surprised. I AM planning to book the cruise soon; we'll see how that goes. Interior room of course - it's "free".
The company itself is legit. I know they have sponsored the Blue Jackets for several years and in their presentation they said they just entered a business partnership with them. I think they've been around for 10 years or so.
If you are aware of their sales strategy up front, it is easier to take. I think I would actually take the package if I was a regular vacationer. (They offer reduced packages in the individual sessions after the main presentation.) I don't get that much free time, nor do I need an extra monthly payment during these tough economic times. - David replies to hockeyguy| 2 replieshttp://bluejackets.nhl.com/team/app?articleid ... ge&service=page
The partnership didn't get finalized until January 2009 - Peter replies to JonTechnically not a timeshare, but they are basically asking you to prepay several vacation resort stays up front in exchange for very deep discounts. Could be a good deal if you vacation a lot. Not worth it if you don't.
Anyone who ever enters their name in a drawing at malls or sporting events is at risk to get this kind of call. Sometimes they advertise who's doing the drawing, other times (especially at sporting events) it's not so clear. By entering, apparently you imply permission for them to call regarding the entry. - Pete replies to PeteForgot: I was told you can get screwed on the booking of the "free" vacation if you don't book early. You have to choose 3 dates, the first at least 60 days in advance and the others spread 30 days minimum apart. There are also black-out dates during peak season.
I have a friend who did something similar through a different company and told me you have to be careful of the details and be a little flexible if you want a good experience. I decided to go for it after a long discussion about his experience. - Raven replies to sed| 2 repliesFor the last couple MONTHS they have been calling me every five or six days like clockwork. At first I never picked up, but after it became a pain in the butt to keep deleting their voicemails (never listened to them either) I decided to pick up the phone and then set the receiver down until they hang up. It's fun hearing them calling my name in confusion. "Hello?....Hello?" LOL telemarketers are the scum of the earth.
- RachelI got the call 2 weeks ago that we entered a drawing at WWE and that they had "Great News" I called back and spoke with a VERY nice lady who said they just needed an hour of our time so they could introduce themselves!! We sat through a 1 hour 20 min presentation about the company and then we were escorted to another room where this new lady named Jaime started to try to sell us this service. My husband and I kept saying "no" and that we just wanted the cruise. Then Jaime brought in another guy to go lower on the prices for their package, but again we said "no" So after saying "no" 6 or 7 times Jaime says to me, "Just slap it on the credit card, it's not like you have to pay that off anytime soon." I was appalled!! I again said "No" and then Jaime had a whole new attitude change. So after that 45 minutes we were once again escorted into another waiting room that was filled with other people who had declined the package. On the wall was pictures of people who had got suckered into the package. But what Sunshine Vacations did, was put copies of the pictures scattered along the wall to make it look like there were MANY people who took this package, when actually it was the same people just different pics. LOL I pointed it out to everyone in there!! So anyways....after about 20 more minutes of waiting still to get our complimentary cruise, we were finally taken into another room where the man handed us a coupon for the cruise. He said we needed to register the coupon within 60 days and pay a $100 deposit that would go towards the taxes. Then we needed to book the cruise. We have to have 3 available dates and they must be spaced out by 30 days and then sent us on our way. So, when I got home I decided to wait a little bit before registering this cruise to see if anyone has actually been on this COMPLIMENTARY cruise or if I will be stuck out in the ocean on a tiny row boat!! So...the moral of the story is, if you get this call and have about 3 hours to spend with these people and can say "NO" about 50 times then you might check this out!!!!! GOOD LUCK

- Luv My Calico| 2 repliesI received a call this morning from 1 800 309-6500. I didn't pick it up, of course, sinc it was a toll free numnber. She left a meesage to call her back. On the message that was left, she said "I have great news." Yeah, sure. I am not going to call back after reading most of the above messages. Thank God for voice mail and this web site!! My daughter signed up for a chance to win a vacation at Pet Expo in Arlington Heights. Sundance Vacations had a booth there that said to sign up and win a vacation. I should have known it was phony, because the back of the form had a lot of little writing on it, which probably made reference to something like a time share.
