- Colin| 3 repliesI work at Target. It is a confirmation about your REDCard application. Nothing to be worried about. They're just checking it's you that signed up for that. When you get a REDCard, it takes a little time to check your credit so they call you and verify. Hope this helps :) oh and to pay off your card when the payment is due, you can go to Guest Services at any store and you can pay it will cash or debit card/check. This note is for anyone new with a Target Credit Card.

- Colin replies to ColinP.S. You can also pay it via mail as well but that's not as safe and it takes a long time for the Target Bank to recognize your request of payment.
- JanJust rec this message called the number on the back of my cc as it seemed like a scam....
the girl I spoke to said yes they did try to call today as someone called to have a new card mailed to FLA im in New England.. so imho if you get this message call target back ASAP. As I said I used the number on the back of my cc.. not the number on the machine..- Caller: Target
- employeeI work In RedCard guest Services and this is a valid number. I actually just called it from work to verify.

- KimCalled my cell phone and left a voicemail. Gave me a number to call to verify some account activity on my Target card. The number they gave me was the customer service number. Good thing they monitored my account.

- YariIt's legit. I applied for a card a few days ago. Got a message today from "Yessenia" from 800-318-8433. I called Target's main number and asked for New Accounts Department. Was transferred over and got the same person that called me and left a message. They only asked to confirm that I did apply, my name, DOB, and address. Nothing else. Account approved.

- Diana| 1 replyThese mixed reviews suck.
I confirmed that this is actually Target. Yesterday I called their main line (they don't even really have a main line, I just called their "Store Experience" number, 1-800-440-0680, on their website) and the lady couldn't recognize the phone number or my reference #, which had me worried.
TODAY I called again (same number) got a different lady. When I told her that I got a fraud warning call, she looked up "fraud department" and the first number she read back to me was this 8433 number.
So, this is legit. Unfortunately not all of Target's reps either know or are smart enough to figure this out.
I'd suggest calling the main line back again if you want proof that this is legitimate. I'd also suggest that Target make their process easier for people like me, it shouldn't be a maze.- Caller: Target (Fraud Department)
- Lisa replies to RSomeone is probably applying for a credit card in your name then and they are trying to help you.

- Danny| 1 replyReceived a call from this number today. Someone had tried to open an account online with Target. All the information was correct except phone and email. Target advised me that it was questionable, which is why they contacted me. They gave me the phone numbers for Trans Union credit fraud, the number to get a copy of my credit report and the FTC fraud line as well as advising me to complete a police report for identity theft. Very grateful for the call

- Dan replies to DannyThe Target credit number that my call came from was 800-318-8433
- Natalie"Jordan" from Target asked for me by my first and last name and left me a voice message requesting I call this number back and reference a provided code, along with their hours of service in Central Time. She did not make any mention of verifying info or anything pertaining to credit cards. I did apply for a Target RedCard just the day before so I don't believe this is a fraudulent call. Either way, never call an unverified number back and provide them personal information. I'm going to call a customer service number I find on Target.com to be safe.
- Caller: Target
- WillCalled the main Target financial line as it said financial services. Representative told me that the number isn't legitimate because his number was the number for financial services.
- CGThis is Target fraud services checking to see if you recently submitted an application for one of their credit cards. It seemed fishy when I got the call so I asked for a number to call back. I then called the Target customer service line and they transferred me to the fraud department, which the fraud rep confirmed was 800-318-8433. Definitely don't ignore this number. Call them back to make sure there isn't a problem. Someone tried to get a Target card with my SSN.

- FrankI applied for their card a couple of days ago. They called just to verify it was me.
- JRIInquiry regarding Target credit application that I did not make. They were very helpful and alerted me that I was the subject of ID theft. They also provided valuable information on what agencies to contact to report this problem. 800-318-8433 is a legitimate number for Target Credit group.

if you get a call from an 800 number and you don't believe who you are talking to...
get their phone number from their website or local store and CALL THEM BACK.
if you DO stay on the line...if they tell you when and how you applied...THINK ABOUT HOW AND WHY A CRIMINAL WOULD EVEN KNOW THAT... let alone CALL YOU TO TELL YOU THAT. good lord.
then...would a criminal tell you THAT and THEN tell you how to do a fraud alert on your credit bureau AND give you the FTC's website? (identitytheft.gov)??? makes sense. fraudsters are always doing that.
now...for boneheads who are 'protecting their spouses' by NOT giving them a message...does that REALLY help them? is it better that your spouse checks their credit and finds a months old inquiry for a fraudulent application that YOU didn't mention that they got a phone call for? think about that. GOOD JOB screwing them over. now thy've got A TON of legwork to do. /slowclap
for those who don't want to verify an address and date of birth for an application that you did do and Target is magically calling you about to ensure that you DID DO that application...YOU JUST PUNCHED IN YOUR SSN AT A POS MACHINE IN ONE OF 2000 STORES...and you're MAD that some KNOWS you applied at Target and asks you to verify your ADDRESS AND DOB (both public data)???? REALLY??? i suppose it's MUCH better that a criminal gets instantly approved for an appilication in YOUR NAME.
and PLEASE, complain about the 'BREACH". because that wasn't two and a half years ago and NO other breaches have EVER happened anywhere EVER. (really! VISA, WAL-MART, THE GOVERNMENT, HOME DEPOT, T-MOBILE, EXPERIAN, and pretty much EVERY OTHER COMPANY has had a breach of some sort. Not to mention anywhere you've ever shown your DL or swiped any card to pay for any thing.)
