Just called Target via the phone number on the back of my Redcard. The customer service representative checked and stated that none of their departments had the phone number of 800-318-8433. So this is not legit.

Has called a few times over the last few days asking for the name of a person who had my number more than 7 years ago. I get lots of calls for that person because they are apparently a deadbeat and owe money to everyone. If this someone trying to steal their identity, good luck!

Since most debt collection calls today are scammers trying to extort money, there is a very good chance that the person they are allegedly looking for doesn't owe a dime.  This is a common tactic used by these extortionists to embarrass people into paying them.  You should never judge without the facts.  One day, they may be calling people looking for you.  Would you want those people to  assume that you are a deadbeat?

Claimed to be from Target asking to verify personal information. Refused to provide a callback number that's publicly listed on the Target website then started talking in circles until I hung up.

Target credit card verification. I recently applied online, and they called to verify it's really me  before they send it out. Legit call used to identify fraud.

Yes this number is for a Target store card verification. I was called after applying and approved. Verification took less than 10 minutes.

This number may be "for a Target store card verification" but that doesn't mean it's always them calling. Scammers frequently spoof legitimate phone numbers. And why are you even here? Do you often look up known phone numbers?

It's not legit. It's a scam and the people on here saying it's otherwise are liars and probably part of the scam.

Received two voicemails to call Target back regarding an application I placed a week ago.  They wanted my name, phone number, address and date of birth due to a fraud alert I had placed on my credit report.  I gave them all that info and was then approved for $900 Red Card, she said I should receive my card in the mail in a week.  Seems totally legit.

I received a call from 800-318-8433 and the lady asked to speak with me. She asked me if I applied for a Target Red Card recently. I said No.

I told her my identity was stolen due to a few data breaches in 2021, and earlier this year I filed an ID Theft report with the FTC after receiving cards in the mail that I hadn’t applied for. I also told her that I have a fraud alert on the credit bureaus.

I asked her “could give me an idea of the type of information they used?” She said yes. She asked me if I had a hotmail[dot]com email and I said Never. She asked me if I ever had a phone number ending in (she gave me the last 4 digits). I said Never. She asked me if the last 4 of my driver’s license was **** and I said that’s correct.

We didn’t discuss my DOB or SSN which was fine with me! Oh, she asked me for my current address and I said I was in the process of moving. She mentioned the street name and I told her that’s my former address.

It seems legit to me. I didn’t give her any information other than to verify or decline the info she offered. I hope I handled it properly.

ADVICE: My identity was stolen due to more than one security breach of a medical facility or group. Please do not allow medical offices to scan your Drivers License into their system. If they insist, inform them that they don’t need it and it’s not required by law. We can do everything right on our end but our information can be taken anyway and we have no control over it. Be careful and be safe. Sorry for the length of this.

Don’t fall for it, it might be a Target number but it’s definitely a scam because I don’t have a credit card from Target nor would I ever. My sister even gets the same call.
Funny thing is sometimes it comes up as spam and other times it’s an unknown number

These bozos saying it’s them calling to verify an account you set up is bs

If this is in regards to a Target credit card then the bank that issues that card would be calling and not the store.
