Woman who identifies herself as Andrea Stevens calls and says she is calling about an important business matter and that her call is not a sales or solicitation call.  A computer-generated voice gives a file number that you are supposed to reference when calling back at 800-322-1991.

I called this number at night and the message just said "Business Office" with no other clues.

When I called and inquired what business the "Business Office" conducted, the gentleman on the line said he couldn't release that without my reference number.  Why would I cooperate with a company that won't disclose any information about what they do?  Wouldn't a collection agency at least identify themselves as such?

I just got off the phone with one of their reps who insisted that I give him my social security number, this of course, after he couldn't find me by the reference number and telephone number.  I smell a scam.

We have been receiving calls from this number every day for at least 2 weeks between 8:30 and 9:30 am.  The voice leaves the same message... Andrea Stevens, not a sales call, call back with your file number, etc.  I called the number tonight and the recording just said "Thank you for calling the business office, this call may be monitored or recorded, your call will be answered in the order it was received"... then it just goes to hold music for a LONG time and makes some clicking noises.  So I just hung up. This is freakin' ridiculous!!!!  We have absolutely no reason to be receiving calls from collection agencies if that in fact what this is. I'm glad to see it's not just us being harrassed. Thanks everyone.

I have been receiving the same calls nearly every day, sometimes more than once, for the past month. The same person, Andrea Stevens on a recorded message with file number and instructions to call back. I have not answered since they provide no specific information about the nature of the call. I'm  once again grateful to able to find out online what these people are really up to.

This is update for my previous message.  The phone number traces back to Pellettieri and Associates.  Their main phone is 630-424-4000.  Fax is 630-424-4002.  Address is 991 Oak Creek Dr., Lombard, IL 60148.  They are a division of MiraMed Revenue Group.  Apparently they are bill collectors for hospitals.  http://www.pellettieri.net/

There have been calls to my home for the past 2 weeks or so from a few different telephone numbers they are 1-800-322-1991 and one whose name appears as Minnesota Calling (763)392-5981 and another which leaves no information the number calling is 1-800-446-1022. They refuse to identify themselves on my answering machine so I do not answer the call

This is a medical collection agency. They robo-call using 800 numbers and 011-plus-800 numbers. If you owe money...or, they say you do...to any medical provider, these are the slimeballs who will annoy the crap out of you trying to collect.

    Ignore these bottom-feeders.

Hey, they are hiring too.  I hope they all get fired and owe money so they can be annoyed too.

Received another call from 800-322-1991. Picked up and heard noises in the background for about 10 seconds than they hang up. Tried to look up this number with no luck. Called the number back and a gentlemen answered with Hello, no company name and asked me for a reference number. I told him I was tired of getting phone calls with hangups, to lose my phone number, to cease and desist, and that this call is being recorded. He asked for my number, gave it to him and hung up. Hope this works.

I got a call from this number today.  I have gotten another call or two from them in the past.  A man with a foreign accent, which sounds possibly Arabic to me, asked for me by name.  He told me my birthday and asked me to assent that it is my birthday, which I would not do.  He said if I would not say that it was my birthday, he could not give me any information as to the nature of the call.  In response to my questioning, he did say that he was calling from "MiraMed Revenue Group", but wouldn't explain who they are or why he was calling, unless I would assent that he had said my birthday.  This, of course, is a backward (probably illegal) way of identifying a person for medical confidentiality reasons.  He should ask me what my birthday is rather than asking me if my birthday is such-and-such.  I hung up because I wasn't going to get any information from him without giving him some first.

I just got the same type of call today (June 8, 2009) that Anon had on May 19, 2009. Except the man didn't have a foreign accent. But he called and when I identified myself, he asked me to verify that my birth-date was such-and-such. I asked him what the call was pertaining to, and he said it was a business matter. I asked what the business matter was, and he said he couldn't go into it unless I verified that my birth-date was such-and-such. I told him I wasn't going to tell him my birth-date unless he told me what the call was about. He told me to have a nice day, and hung up.

Same as all the above.  They say important business matter, then start asking me questions.  SSN, DOB - and they still haven't told me what they are calling about.

Yes - I have outstanding 'things' - but, this is no way to build 'trust' that would allow a client to pay you back

Same story - and the reason you can't understand them, it's probably an offshore calling center that "Mira" pays to place these calls through VOIP ...imagine that - but there is no reason for them to have your SS#. Too, if anyone asks you to verify your "info"...have them give you their most recent on you first ...ya know what I mean?

They're calling me constantly.  I just don't answer any more.  I had a major fall last year that required surgery at Geisinger Hospital in Danville, PA.  The whole bill was $62,000 which is all included in litigation now pending, but Geisinger keeps divvying up the bill into hundred dollar increments and sending it out to collection agencies and no matter how many times I give them my attorney's name and contact information, they claim I never have before.  Same goes for Geisinger whenever they call.  You would think they would have all my bills lumped under my name and patient ID number, no?

My husband received a call from them this morning, the caller straight away asked to confirm my minor child’s date of birth, which he already had it on him. When my husband asked why he needed this information, the caller then said that he also wanted to confirm my husband's date of birth and that he additionally had.

This caller did not introduce himself, did not explain the nature of call and what he was calling in regards to. My husband refused to share or confirm any information until the caller identifies himself and also explains whey he needed this information, the caller then got mad and hung up saying, have a nice day!!

We noted the number from our caller ID to be 1-800-322-1991 and I called the number.they identified as “Miramed Revenue Group”. I asked them what the company did and he said that he can only tell me if I had a reference number and refused to give further information. I then asked to speak with a supervisor or a manger. After advising that I was ocncerned that he had our personal information of our minor and I would contact the police and better busines bureau and after sharing the phone number that the call was received they advised that they were calling regarding the bill from my medical office. Mine was also caught on the red tape and coincidently I had paid the bill yesterday.

I told him that my bills were already settled with your company and they can take me off there list and also I did not appreciate the call was handled to our residence and that the caller should have introduced himself and not petrified and alarmed us and that if they continue doing business this way, I was going to report them to my medical office, Better Business Bureau, and State Attorney’s office.

I can understand the office giving this company enough information to chase the primary insurance holder, but to give our my minors personal information is alarming and of high conern. I have also sent my written complain to my medical office about the process and non-professional conduct of the company that they have contracted too.
