- Astrolyre replies to Chaiah| 1 reply<<< "Someone may have given your name and/or phone number when going in for medical care..." >>>
I never heard of people giving other people's names and numbers when seeking medical attention! That would be terribly bad manners to reveal someone's name and number without their knowledge. It might be illegal. The 'emergency contact' info you might give is for medical emergencies and not for billing issues.
Also, if they can't tell you anything about it without getting personal identity information, then that's their problem. No one is obligated to identify himself to a phone caller! They shouldn't be calling and are obviously up to no good!
Real business matters come in the mail or by process server ONLY! Not from strangers calling on the phone. Ignore calls like this until you get a bill in the mail! - BigA replies to AstrolyreIt is illegal, especially if they try to use the other person's insurance.

Web site give an alleged contact address in Michigan which doesn’t seem to correspond with other address for these criminals: http://www.miramedgs.com/contact-us
Here is web site that lists them in Illinois, but has them as a debt consolidation company and not a debt collector, talk about misleading advertising: http://www.debt-consolidation.com/collection- ... enue-group-llc/
BBB lists them as a debt collector at the Illinois address giving them an accredited A+ even though they have 75 complaints and 1 negative review: http://www.bbb.org/chicago/business-reviews/m ... ard-il-73001257
Looking at the complaints it looks like they have a habit of lying to people and also attempting to collect nonexistent debt.
I guess this explains why no one can understand them: http://www.corporationwiki.com/Illinois/Lomba ... lc-4810779.aspx
Looks like the Chamber of Commerce agrees that they are a debt collector and not a debt consolidator as advertised: http://business.lombardchamber.com/list/Member/miramed-revenue-group-1690
Seems to be a bunch of unhappy employees: http://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/MiraMed-Revenue-Group-Reviews-E146125.htm

Michigan has them as an Illinois corporation and has no record of them having a debt collection license in Michigan as required by law.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
Read up on your rights here, get template letters to send and also make a complaint at this government site: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices: http://consumerfraudreporting.org/stateattorneygenerallist.php - BigA replies to ChaiahLooks like i just posted everything people need to know to take your law breaking collection agency to court and to sue you. Who knows they may get lucky and a 82 million dollar judgement against you also, since precedent has been set by the Portfolio case.
- Margie Saccomanno| 1 replyThe caller ID'ed herself as calling from the MiraMed Group. I can't tell if it's a robo call or an actual person but the voice said it was in regard to a personal business matter. That usually means collections. It can only be in reference to a hospital bill I only just received a request for a balance of $400 due immediately but which they sent to our old address. Just received a copy of the bill last week and there is something desperately wrong with this bill. I had a pacemaker w/a defibrillator inserted in my chest and this has all kinds of charges for dialysis & blood transfusions and tons and tons of percocet and morophine etc., I didn't have any of these services. I was passing-out and they didn't know why until I had a cardiac monitor which I wore around for a month and it finally caught what was happening. V-Tach, the most common reason for sudden cardiac death. I'm very blessed to be alive as I passed out about 5 or 6 times in a two-three month period and they seemed to think it was from a seizure. But I was only in the hospital for 2 days and then home and here I've got a $167,000.00 hospital bill for a $400 unpaid balance.........???? I don't understand it or know what to do with it so I've sent a copy of the whole mess to my insurance company at their request. Why would I be getting calls from a collection company. All the other charges, doctors, surgeon etc., were paid in full as per our insurance coverage. I really don't understand this at all and this company is VERY rude. Like I said I couldn't tell if it was a robo call or not but it was a very terse and rude call.
Anyone else have an experience like this with them?- Caller: MiraMed Group

- Michael8001001991. This number keeps calling and when you ask them to remove your number from their calling list they just hang up!
- Caller: Bank
- Call type: Scam suspicion
- BRIt's a medical debt collection agency. I don't think it's a scam, unless they've been stalking me and getting people to violate HIPAA. When they called they knew already my full name and date of birth and that I had an outstanding debt from a particular medical center because a particular practitioner was out of network, which was all true. They'll call you like twice a day every day until you give them what they want. Sometimes they call from 1(877)523-1278.

- Glo replies to TomYou’re right! I just received a call like that. He wouldn’t provide any information, so I wouldn’t provide any info either. There are too many scams out there.
- Art replies to Matt| 1 replyIt is a scam. They have billing info on bills that have already been paid and pose as debt collectors to scam money out of you. It works on people overwhelmed by bills and medical issues who don't keep track of what they have paid and to who. This is why they are secretive about who they are and what their "company" is.
- BigA replies to Art
Yet that information has been posted in this thread. I guess you should have taken the time to read past the post from 2008 that you replied to thinking that person will be stopping back after 15 years to read your post and that it will be useful to him.Quote:This is why they are secretive about who they are - Gary replies to Margie SaccomannoSome how they get into your medical records (hacked the hospital system ?) and try to bill you for something you already paid claiming it as overdue. They even have the account numbers and hospital codes. But when I look up my paper copies of the bill, I see my check stub attached and I know it is already paid off. But they want to collect claiming it was never paid.
