Caller ID said the call was from Citibank.  I don't have an account at Citibank so I didn't answer it.  Message left by recorded voice just said, "Press 1 for dispute".  This appears to be a scam call.

I just got a text message stating I’m on my way

This phone # left a voicemail stating I had a $98.00 charge & the robo voice wanted me to press 1 to connect with a city fraud specialist.

Same as listed by others: scam call showing "Citibank" on Caller ID claiming suspicious activity and a $1000 charge on my card. I hung up, searched the number and found this very helpful information, thank you all for posting!

Got a call from this no. claiming to be citibank fraud did not answer. checked looks fishy. So never answer calls that are suspicious. call the card no at the back.

Also got the same.  Caller ID on my T-Mobile phone even says "Citibank".  Too bad I don't actually have a Citibank card.

Exact same number, 800-374-9700 called me yesterday. I don't even bank with Citibank and asked me to press 1 to dispute. I just hung up.

I got exactly the same call

Robo calling scammer trying to trick their victims into thinking there was an unauthorized charge to their credit card account and to "Press One to connect with bank fraud specialist" to dispute the charge.

Voicemail saying that my Citi account required an approval for a large purchase, and press 1 if you did not make this transaction.  I do not have a Citi account.

I don't know what to think of this. I received a phone call and a machine told me there was a fraudulent charge on my Citibank account for $1,400 from China. It told me to press one if I did not authorize this. I pressed one and I immediately got connected to a person (with an Indian accent). He knew my last name and he asked if I am authorizing this charge. I told him NO and I did not know I had a Citibank account. Obviously, someone created the account in my name. He said that it was possible and he would deny the charge and close the account. That was it. He did not ask for anything or try to sell me anything. I did not know what to think.

Scammers look for people who DO have a bank account, so they can scam you out of some money with the "refund scam".

He merely lied about you having an account, since it is the same script they use on everyone and they have no way of knowing if you have an account or not until you confirm that you do.
By you saying you don't have an account, he could not proceed with his scripted instructions that probably were specific to Citibank accounts.

I too just received a phishing call and called the bank directly.  No unauthorized charges and not from them!

Got a phone call from 1-800-374-9700, "Citibank". Didn't answer; received the following voicemail:
"Your Citibank card has been charged of $1,498. If you did not authorize this transaction, please press 1 to connect with Citi fraud specialist for dispute. Please press 1 for dispute." Obviously a spoof call.

I did too, the same amount.  I'm smart enough not to fall for these scams, and in this case not having a Citibank account makes it even easier.

Got a fake call about fraud from Citibank. I have no accounts with them. The call itself is the fraud. Careful.

800-374-9700 is a Citibank number. But the scammers have a way to show this legitimate number on you phone caller ID. So beware!!!  Citibank advised only call the citibank with the number on the back of your call.

“$498… press 1 for dispute.” I have no account or cards with Citibank. No harm done because I either don’t answer the phone or my phone KNOWS to silence these calls.
