Received call at 8:38AM 2/22/17 - no message left on my answering machine - checked 800NOTES - saw the prior info - must be the same scam attempt!  Blocked the # on my Panasonic phone system (Great News:  the system can block up to 250 #'s)

They called again today ... they are unstoppable.

They call everyday for  several days. As early as 8:30 am and latest was 7:30 pm. I put it on reject list on cellphone. They have left messages pretending to be Citibank. Have no account there. I realized this was a scam when the cell's own number showed up on caller id. Once like normal but without the name and a few times with an extra one at the beginning. Just got this number last month.

They keep calling me stating that they would appreciate a call from me. Who are they?

Been dealing with calls from this number for weeks, every day twice, sometimes leave messages and the messages are not professional. Put in a complaint to Citibank Online virtually talking to three agents, they have been utterly ineffectual so far. Today I answered the call and talk to a woman with a very heavy accent (no offense, many legit agents have accents, but her voice was dead of empathy). She gave some bs about one of my accounts being $10 overdue. It's [***], but I went and paid all my payments ahead of time anyway. Now I found this website and see that it is indeed completely [***]. The virtual agents said there is no reason for me to be getting these calls. But they can't seem to or don't want to fix the situation.

So this number 800 388 2200 is a debt collection agency hired by Citi, I asked where they are located in and they told me the Philippines. If they call you just check your account online, as for these guys on the phone i spoke to a rep and told them this call looks like a scam since they keep callng but never leave a message.

Remember always check your account online, dont deal with these debt collector guys, and if you do not have a account with Citi tell them.

Another call this morning (3/10/17) @ 8:17AM - called Citibank Corp HQ's. in NYC- after speaking with several different departments, finally spoke with the right division to check this 800# out to determine if its legit.  The person I spoke with said she is adding me to a internal DNC List - Here's the # to call: 1-877-340-4357, Option #4 - good luck!!

I keep getting calls from 1800- 388-2200. No answer when I pick up and no answer when I call back.

800Notes is not a messaging service. 800Notes does not send alerts to your callers when you post here, a bulletin board style of website with public access. You must direct your demands to the sources of your unwanted calls.

I found this is not a scam in most cases. This is citi collection department phone number for a certain co-branded citi card. Simply call citi and ask for fraud team. (Use the # on your card). It's absolutely conceivable that someone has used a computer to mask their scam number with a Citi collections real # and phished for info. It's a scary world out there. Invest in Life Lock or similar protection.
