Invest in a call blocker and DO NOT pick up on call numbers you do not recognize.  You should block the entire 800 number area code.  It is often used by scammers.

I was called three times today by this number. A female with accent asked me to pay for my late payments, and insisted it was better to pay through the cell. I refused to give any personal information. Called Citi and the representative said the number WAS associated with them. Don't think it is professional for Citi to do so.

Most of the time someone else has put your number down on accident and they are calling for someone else not you. Or maybe you do have a credit card through them? They carry over 50 brand cards; home Depot, sears, best buy, childrens place, tractor supply, ect.

it is Citi Bank. This is a real number. If you do not have a card through them then they are calling for someone you may know, a daughter? son? sister n law? people put other phone numbers down for them to be reached. If you don't want calls call them state you phone number and that this is your number and verbal do not call.

They can not leave messages.. think about it if you had an debt or a missed payment with a company do you want your information stated over a voicemail especially if one number of your phone number is off... then they are giving random people your personal information and that you haven't made your payment and or you have fraud on your account? Its illegal to leave messages to leave peoples personal information over the phone. HENCE WHY THEY DON'T LEAVE MESSAGES! I understand the scams out there... if you don't feel comfortable call the number on the back of the card. Its either one of the following. your payment hasn't posted, payment didn't go through due to bank issue, forgot to make a payment, fraud charges on the card, or your over the credit limit. This is a real number I thought it was scam also but called and told them I felt comfortable to call the number on the back of the card. I did and ended up having FRAUD on my account and I didn't answer the phone calls til it was two months past due and it my CREDIT SCORE!! Do yourself a favor answer the phone call see who it is.... than tell them you will call the number on the back of the card.

I received calls from this number two days in a row.  The gentleman had an Irish accent.  I called the number and verified that it is, indeed, CitiBank.  I had recently closed an account and had a $60 outstanding balance that was 4 days overdue.  I verified the information online and paid it via my bank's online bill pay service.  Good thing they called before it hit 30 days overdue... I avoided having a negative hit on my credit report!

The advice that someone else gave is good...  if in doubt, call the number on the back of the card.  In my case, I have had Citi cards for myself and my businesses and couldn't be sure which one they were referencing.

Also bear in mind that the big boys (Citi, Chase, Bank of America) manage the card business for retail operations and the bank's name may not be on your card.  These are called "transparent" accounts and if you have a retail merchant card, you may very well have a Citi, BOA or Chase card and simply not know it.

They call 3 or 4 times at day. They sometimes leave a message saying they are from Citibank and to contact them using the www.citicard.com address or to call their number. I and nobody in my house have business with Citi bank. It looks like it is SPAM.
