I have had same problem with three different numbers ringing day and night. The only way I could stop it was to get the BLOCK NUMBERS feature from my phone co.  So far this has stoped 800-395-2274, 877-213-3230, 800-927-2291.  Best of luck

This company is a HSBC affliate; instead of collecting outstanding payments, they wanted to offer me a new credit card.  I called the HSBC direct line on the HSBC website and asked to be removed.  Hopefully, they won't be calling again or I will report them as harassments.

If you ever call them from your telephone to a tollfree number, even though you may have your number on caller ID blocked, they pick it up because it's a toll free number.    If you have free or low long distance, call them with your caller ID blocked and call the number on the back for those out of the country.  As long as it's not a toll free number, they don't have access to it.

I have digital phone.    I have advanced call forwarding.   When one of these numbers show up, it is automatically forwarded to one of the numbers that have called me.   Let them pick up on their own trash.

I get 8-10 calls a day from these people.  They never leave a message and when I do answer, they hang up.

They call all the time!  But if someone is asking you to "put in your credit card number" or ask you for your card number DO NOT DO IT!  Um, if they are the CC company, then they know your number.  Sounds like a huge scam, don't buy into it!

MANY MANY complaints that started from the one complaint of just plain rudeness. They don't "close" calls--they just hang up.

May I speak to John Doe?
He's not here right now. May I take a message?
    *Click*

May I speak to John Doe?
Yes, may I tell him who's calling?
    *Click*

Even when "John" has been home, they just hang up!

HSBC/Direct Merchants says they have THOUSANDS of 1-800 numbers as they are a huge international company. Well, the only trouble we've had has been from the 800-395-2274 number. That's it. Makes me think it's a scam or someone wanting to check if my husband or I are home in order to rob us.

I spent nearly 2 hours today complaining to three different departments. ONE was courteous and listened. The other two were collectively blonde bimbos who couldn't not understand the bottom line of my complaint, and gave us inaccurate information that only got us WAY more riled up and was only settled when we worked our way back to the third dept.

I have truly never worked with such a screwed up company.

The other complaint was about them calling at all. This is the ONLY payment my husband has made late because he didn't get a statement, which they verified. They said it did indeed come back to them, but they were just waiting on us to figure that out and call (?!?). So, he wrote a check and mailed it off and they *did* take off the late charge b/c they could see that we didn't get the bill. However, the collection calls kept calling EVEN though the accout plainly noted that we had already handled things.

The whole day has been NUTS!

In 2003 HSBC Bank bought disgraced predatory lender Household International. Household's new name is HSBC Finance Corporation. Did you receive a nasty call from 1-800-395-2274? It was from HSBC Finance Corporation.

Husband said we have to keep things in perspective: HSBC/Directs Merchangs is scraping the bottom of the barrel when it comes to clientel. Most of us have had some sort of financial difficulty and have had to go to HSBC to get or rebuild credit. Therefore, HSBC probably deals with thousands of loser deadbeats every day. We have been emerging from a brief but terrible two years of financial disaster, and we're coming back strong. So, we've been forced to use HSBC as our emergeny card. I guess if we don't want HSBC to call us with all their crappy, weird, hanging-up, scamming ways, then we have to all keep doing the right thing, upgrade to a more reputable company, and then kick HSBC to the curb.

Today I have received these calls: 01/29/2008
    From Number: 18003952274
    8:31  AM
    9:56  AM
    11:25 AM
    3:27  PM
    8:42  PM

They have been calling all week and today I have posted complaints on the DO NOT CALL REGISTRY. They never leave messages, they always hang up. One time I called them back and a recording said I had some account associated with my phone number. Which is absolutely false. When I'm sick and at home all day maybe they'd like it better when I blow my brains out because of them. The damn jerks. There has to be a way to block these calls.

They have no right disturbing people in this manner.

...and I do NOT use credit cards. Nor have I used some type of credit company.

This is harassment. It's not fair plain and simple.

Just like clockwork ,every 4 - 6 hours my cell rings with this # appearing . It is absolutely insane , only for the fact that the caller doesn't even speak english . I had to only answer the call once to know that this is some sort of goofy sales pitch that I( personally ) do not have time to sit and listen to . Besides , if I was even remotely interested in whatever it is that they are selling I would have contacted them . That's usually how shopping works , or that is what I was led to believe . I wish I could ban any such contact from outside sources such as this from ever calling me again ( as do many others I'm sure ) .

I receive at least five calls from this number.  Most often, there isn't any response when I take the call.  At times the line goes dead as soon as I respond.  There was a time when a received a recorded message about some car I am driving.... !

I know I have run into some financial difficulties but DANG!  I didn't realize being harassed/stalked is the way to help out customers who have always been faithful in the past.  I get calls from 8:30 am til about 9:52pm EVERYDAY.  Yes, weekends too.
I'm a bit nervous hearing people have handled the problem and STILL get numerous calls everyday.  I mostly get called once every hour til about 9:52pm.  Some of the reports of this number is sketchy and REALLY makes me want to not answer even the more.

I would "talk" to them if someone was there. They don't leave a message and just hang up. What kind of collection agency calls and doesn't leave a message. third call today as we speak and what happend they hung up. Tacky business practices if you ask me. if they want money, they can leave a Freakin message and stand in line.
