- plausableCheck out the comments on 1-831-755-6699 on this web site. That number
now tells you to dial this number to settle credit card account problems.
DO NOT GIVE THEM ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION. - SAPerson Called and said they had a $500 Charge from June 2007. They told me the card number ended in 0091. They then told me I needed to call the Fraud line at 1-800-395-7555 (18003957555). After get an automated response it told me the card number ended in 2091 and if this wasn't right to enter my credit card number. I hung up.

- ny| 1 replyGot a call about someone making charges on my HSBC card. Was asked personal info, so I said I would call them back to verify with whom I was speaking. He gave me this number, but I called HSBC directly. Turned out to be real, someone really did make charges on my card!

- Hector| 6 repliesI got a call from these guys telling me there was a problem with my HSBC account. I told them they were full of it. I called the number on the back of my HSBC card and spoke to account services and asked them if there was problem. They said no problem was detected and no new or unauthorized charges were made. I even checked the account on the internet and found the information to be correct. I asked them about the number 800 395 755. They stated it was not an HSBC number. Keep an eye on some of the entries on this site. It seems like the dirtbags are posting an "it's OK" entry trying to get you to drop your guard. DO NOT GIVE THESE GUYS ANY INFO.
- Ross J. replies to Hector| 5 repliesI also received a call about someone making charges on my HSBC card. I did not return the call to 1-800-395-7555 because I was worried it was somebody seeking my credit card information. Instead I called the number on the back of my credit card. It turns out that the 800 number is in fact HSBC's Card Services Fraud Prevention Department. Somebody tried to charge over $8,000 on my card and they caught it and denied it. In addition to receiving a call I also received an e-mail from HSBC. Oddly enough; the 800 number they asked me to call is not the same number. Go figure!
- KC| 1 replyI got a call from 831-755-6699. As always I did not pick up the call since I did not know the number. I got a voicemail asking me to call 1-800-395-7555 which the lady said is the HSBC Security Department. I called up the number and they asked me personal details like my social security number. I was suspicious and told them I'll call them back. Then I looked up the number for HSBC on the HSBC website (hsbc.com). I got this number 1-800-975-HSBC(4722). I called them up and it took a long time to reach the security department. They did confirm that they did try to contact me and 1-800-395-7555 is their number. They did not however know that 831-755-6699 is their number and they could not confirm that it is theirs. They asked me a lot of security questions to confirm my identity. They said someone tried to change the address on my account and they will cancel my old card (which I havent received yet. I applied for the HSBC credit card only this month) and issue me a new one. From my experience, I would not pick up the call from 831-755-6699. I feel its better to call the number on the HSBC website or the number on the back of the credit card. That may delay the call time but I guess its much safer.
- JanetCalled at 1pm...I dentified themselves as HSBC....fraud dept. No answer when I returned the "message"
- Caller: Said HSBC
- Stella replies to ny800 395 7555 It is the authenticated number authorized from HSBC. I got a call from this number too this morning. I doubted it and call to HSBC card service directly, finally they told me the number are their real number for card service about temporary holding charge.
- Anonymous replies to Ross J.| 3 repliesI just received a phone call from 918-384-4000 stating they put a hold on my account and needed some verification. They gave me the number 800-395-7555 and a reference number to call them back at. I was uncertain on calling this number back so I called the number on the back of my HSBC card. HSBC claimed the number listed above (800-395-7555) is from the fraud department at HSBC. I recently changed some information on my account and they were verifying that those changes are correct. The 800 number listed above is a valid HSBC fraud department number per Jay (customer service member) from HSBC.
- tinaThey're NOT HSBC. I called the fraud department using the phone number on the back of my credit card to check out this number they left on my voice mail. HSBC said it is not one of their phone numbers, but someone trying to get my information.
- EllaI received an email supposedly from the fraud department at HSBC giving the 800-395-7555 number to call. I had already been warned by HSBC the day before about fraudulent charges to my account to various dating and girly sites. I called that number thinking this was a followup and got a heavy breathing good time woman. When my husband called the same number a few minutes later he got an announcement identifying it as an HSBC credit card department. Thinking I probably dialed the wrong number, I checked the number on my call log and it was the number in question. When I spoke to someone I reached with the number on the back of my credit card he said that 800-395-7555 is not their number. Very peculiar!
- ZacI returned a voice mail call. Operator asked for a credit card number. I gave her the reference number left on my voice mail instead. She said message was intended for someone else and hung up.

- Gary| 1 replynumber is listed on co's website:
http://www.hsbcusa.com/security/report_fraud.html - Jeff replies to GaryI think the above website is also fake.
- JeffWell, I called the number on the card and they said the number 800-395-7555 is their Fraud department at HSBC. The man answered my call to the number on the card is not a native speaker.
Anyway, he told me that they put a hold on my account since their record showed that someone in 12/2009 accessed my account in China. Fortunately it was me. It took them more than two months to detect something unusual. I guess we can not count on this Fraud department. The phone number showed up on my phone is 918-384-4000. They just try to make our life difficult.
It's better to cancel any HSBC card you have if you really want to protect yourself.- Caller: HSBC
- LizI got a message at work saying that there was possible fraud to my account. I called the number from the back of my card and found out that it was a valid call from the credit card company.

- ThankfulGot a call from caller ID 6908. Didn't answer and they left a message stating there was a security hold on my HSBC account. Please call 1-800-395-7555. I didn't trust this number because of the caller ID. I called HSBC and there was a security hold on our account. We had just gotten new cards as our old one was stolen. The next day I had my eyes examed and charged $200 on the account for new glasses. HSBC put a hold on this because of the large amount and the fraud dept. wanted to verify that I made the charges. This number is HSBC doing their job.
