I got the message today. Called the number.  They wanted my cc number and social.   When I refused they asked me to please call the number on the back of my HSBC credit card as my card had suspicious charges.  I did.  Indeed, there were over $2000 in charges to an online florest and then the card was frozen for my confirmation.  I would never recommend giving out your social and cc number to someone who calls you on the phone, but this number was indeed a division of fraud prevention with HSBC.  Call your credit card company directly and settle it!!

Same here but I call 1800 975 4722 hsbc bank directly and they told me it's thier number legit

It is very unfortunate that someone tried to scam you guys into giving out your personal information. I work for HSBC. That number does not exist in our directory, and the above email given by Gary isn't real.  

I hope you guys keep your guard up, and NEVER give anyone your personal information.

Called to leave a message with a family member that my GM card had a
"suspicious charge,"  although i have no balance on that card.  Don't give any info to these ppl.

I received a "very important message" from this number to "review recent activity" on my credit card. I was also given an "alert ID #" to reference when I called. I received a similar call 2 days later from 1-888-416-7319. I did not call either number but instead called the customer service number on the back of my credit card. The rep told me the calls were legit and actually transferred me to someone in India. They wanted to verify a couple of charges to my account. All and all...a very strange experience.

It's real. I received a letter saying they had tried to call me to verify my account and keep it secure and that I had to call the number. I had a hold on my card and I couldn't access it online so I called and gave them all sorts of information. It's ridiculous that they would do ask for so much information and in the end, they didn't even tell me the specific problem... only that someone may have tried to access my account online. Well, 2 minutes later I was able to see my account online again.

I also received a voicemail and called the number.  It was the fraud dept at HSBC about some charges I had made on my account back to back.  They did ask for some identifying information but not unlike when I call HSBC directly when I have other business.

The number is legit... it's listed as part of the credit card fraud department on the OFFICIAL HSBC site.

given that chance my dear since you're not a part of your parents' account, it's best not to disclose too much information. on your part you better ask your parents to call the number on the back of their credit card to validate the phone call you receive and not just post this stupid post.

if i were you just call the # on the back of your credit cards before posting such whimsical posts.

well you wouldn't know that the 800# provided is the direct line of the fraud dept of HSBC. i've been a customer of HSBC and 800-395-7555 is the fraud dept and they make it to point that all charges on my account are verified. they even helped me when someone outside in US counterfeited my credit card though i have my card with me. fraud charges were around $822.00 but they were able to make necessary adjustments. man you must be kidding. know your words first

800-395-7555 is a valid HSBC number and they have updated the security system to ask for your CC# and Social Security #.  I'd love to know why a scammer or someone stealing credit card info would bother to call you if they have your CC# and SS# already!


If you dont believe the number, call the main line and spend 20 minutes being bounced around until you get to the Fraud Dept.  This way I dont have to wait on-hold when I do call back!

This IS an HBSC number, given out by the fraud department (but it seems like a regular customer service line when you call).

If you call this number and the service incorrectly identifies the last 4 digits of your credit card number based on the number you are calling from then you probably ARE target of fraud and someone opened another credit card using your information.

Called me and I didn't answer because the number showed as 6923, left message, said their name was Jule or something  like that, couldn't understand his accent.  Told me they were with the securities department and that a hold had been placed on my Archer Bank Visa card.  Since I don't have any such card I assumed it was a scam and left it alone.

Oops.  Wasn't Archer but Orchard and was legit.  Letting me know about suspicious activity on my cc.  Called the number on cc and they verified

I just got a call, a Lady by the name Toni left me a voice mail said she is from the Fraud Services and there's been a Indefinite hold on my credit cards unless I don't pay

It is legit.  It is HSBC Fraud Security.  I had a charge in the UK and they caught it.  I just cancelled my account for a new one.

claimed to be fraud very rude said I had to write a letter to be taken off the do not call list. Called him names til he hung up.Treat them like the trash they are.
