VERY WEIRD!! I actually got a bill at home for an ER visit to BMC almost 2,5 years ago!!! And it said on the bill that if I thought there was a mistake to call 18004166072. The funny thing is when I called, it was an agency for credit cards, BUT the lady on the phone told me to get online and google this phone number!!! So she kind of led me right to this website...So many people here are saying this a medical bill, I wonder if the BMC ER system info has privacy leaks and people doing these schemes can access our info! This is frightening!

Got a call a few minutes ago from this #, claiming they were the Brockton Hospital and wanted to speak w/my husband (they gave his name).  (They didn't say anything about debt collection.)  I screen all calls, so I replayed the message right after it was recorded, and wrote down the info, thinking it was probably a mistake because he hasn't been to the hospital in ages and all our bills are paid on time.  As he wasn't able to return the call, and the voice had sounded real (not recorded) I called the number.  When a robo-voice told me to enter my phone number, I entered 2 or 3 digits, but thought "why should I enter my phone #?"and hung up.  I then called the hospital's main phone number to see if the # was valid, and they didn't think so, esp since the call came in after hours.

Oh, by the way, Brockton Hospital generally refers to itself as "Signature Healthcare," so that also made me wonder.  Whenever I get a call from them, Sig. Health. is the name they give.

Why would legitimate businesses use such a stupid collection tactic?  If I remember, I'll call the hosp. bus. office tomorrow and complain.

Billing Office for Brockton Hospital.  They were very pleasant, but were calling about a bill that had been paid weeks ago.  I wish they'd say WHO was calling in their message and when you call in, but it's an anonymous answering machine.

I got a call and it told me to call this number. So after reading all of these posts I decided to put in a random extension. I got a man named Johnathon. I asked him what this is and why i was meant to call. He said my full name and said he was at the hospital I had attended at one time. I asked him why he was calling and he said he needed my date of birth and my address before he could disclose any information. I told him no, and asked where he is located. After going back and forth a few times he gave me a P.O. box I asked what town (I wanted to see if he would say it, i know what town it is in) and he finally said the right town. But anyone could Google the name and figure it out. I declined to give him any information and that was it. I do have some bills from this hospital (i've received 8 for two visits because insurance is being funky) I'm going to call (the actual hospital) and figure out why they have this information... most likely someone got a hold on some information and once they have your address and DOB they most likely charge visits to you.

I got a call asking for my 6 year-old son on the message.  I called back and same thing as above, had to wait then was told to leave a vmail (which I did not).  I imagine it's regarding a doctor visit that Harvard Pilgrim/United Health has not paid yet.  I've been back and forth with them so much about previous coverage, and send in the documentation now 3 times and all this time I'm getting billed for a visit for me for over $700 and one for my son for over $100.  I called the billing office and they told me I need to call the insurance because they don't re-bill something.  So I will and they better not give me any crap because this stuff is covered and they need to pay the claims.

    Good luck, everyone.

Oh gosh, after reading your post, I'm afraid maybe it's not what I think.  I will never give out personal info on the phone (had that credit card scam call me once before and they got nothing out of me).  I guess I'll try calling now and see what they say.

It's not a scam..just a hospital collection co. I almost hung up when it asked for my home no. but I was too curious as to what it was..It was a hosp bill that is not even 30 days out yet. She asked if I would like to clear up my balance with a credit or debit card. Aside from the fact that I made a partial payment on the hosp. website 2 days ago, I told her that if they refuse to indentify themselves when they call me that under no circumstances would I give her a credit card over the phone!

Even I got this call today. Even I think this might be something t do with Medical bills. I had a visit in the Tufts Medical hospital like 6 months ago, WAY back in February. This might be regarding it

Looks like several people got calls from this number and not a single one of them has had a consistent outcome. I pay all my bills on time and and don't owe anyone. I was told this was "not a sales call or not a telemarking call but it very important that you get back to us at ..." If someone needs to get in touch with me that badly, they can send me a certified letter. Otherwise, I'm going to my Verizon account now  and blocking this number and suggest you do the same with your carrier.

This was for an emergency room copay for LGH which I know I owed but did not receive a bill in the mail, They were very pleasant and knew the whole story about this bill for 50 bucks. I paid it and that was the end of it.   Not a scam
