Unknown and unidentified caller.  Scammer?????????????

Received a text message asking if these were valid charges and had them listed. It said to reply Y or N. I replied N and then received another text with the phone #800-420-5598

I received a voicemail from this number saying that someone had opened an account with my name and to call back to verify. I knew I had not signed up with them, so called to clear that up. They asked me for my social insurance number. I told them there would be no way I would give that information to them. The people from 800-420-5598 are scammers. Be very careful with what kind of information you share!

Same as Crystal, someone opened an account using an abbreviated version of my wife's name. They need her to call to verify. Thanks for posting Crystal. You saved me a headache.

This happened to me too.  Must be a scam.

Same thing happened to me yesterday, I called Lowes canada credit department and no account had been opened with my phone number and they said that they do not have the 800 number in their system.

Scam.  Called said they were from Sams Club Fraud Dept.  Called the correct # for Sams.  They have no idea who  this is.  SCAM

Same experience. Texted saying that there's a charge for $318 for a charge with Sam's Club.  1 day before Christmas Eve. They wanted me to call 1 (800) 420-5598 to verify.  Probably hoping to get someone frantic.  Glad for websites like this. Thanks everyone.

Received a text saying that someone charged 414.59 at jcpenny. They gave the last four numbers of an account. I don’t even have a card from them anymore so I don’t know if that is the last 4 of the account. They wanted me to text back yes or no if the charges were legit. I texted no and was told to call this number for suspected fraud. I then googled to find this info so thank you. I won’t be calling them.

Similar to many of the above, I received a Fraud Alert text message at 3am that a purchase was attempted on my Sam’s MC with an invalid pin. I don’t have a Sam’s card, so I planned to ignore but I also came in here to check the number and saw all of the scam comments listed. Good to know for sure that it isn’t anything I need to do.

Got a voice mail on a newly acquired phone cell number.  Have been fielding calls for the old owner of the phone number for three weeks.  This voice mail mentioned the husband of the old owner by name and said they were with Fraud Investigations for Synchrony Bank.  Blocked them.

Got a text message asking about transactions asked me to reply Y or N to verify. Then I got a message saying they suspect fraud and to call the number immediately. Thank goodness for this forum- I would have fallen for it

Same as many above.  Received a text this morning stating there were two charges to my Lowe’s account (around $1,500 each) and to respond Y or N to verify.   As my wallet was stolen at a grocery store recently, I have received messages like this before and they normally respond, “you account has bee suspended, please call the number on the back of your card...etc.”  This on said to “call this number...”. Seemed suspicious; thankful for a free sight like this and for those posting on it.

I got text giving partial mc # i didnt recognize- they got me going for a while as it was saying sony playstation was about to get upset with my kid but glad i checked this site first! Total scam!
