Got a call from 855-224-2952 with an automated message saying my venmo credit card had some kinda fraud situation. Then also got a text saying reply y or n about some charge from 1-800-420-5598

Phishing scam. Called the  number on my card and  there  was zero on the card.

Received a text message asking if these were valid charges and had them listed. It said to reply Y or N. Looked up the # found this site saved me stress out. #800-420-5598

had a text message from this number and typed N

Scam text 2022 for Sam's card.  I hung up and called the credit card company with the number on the back of my card

I received the following text messages from “Synchrony Fraud” that looked legit:

“Hi __(First name)__
It's Synchrony Fraud Solutions/JCPenneyMC
Regarding your Card Ending _####_

“Did you attempt all of these purchases?
11/14  Shorai Inc  $365.55  DECLINED
11/14  DEPUTY COLLE  $0  APPROVED
11/10  WHITE ORCHID  $0  APPROVED
Text back Y or N to protect your account
Your card may be locked until you reply.”

My Text Reply: “No”

“Synchrony” Text Reply:
“Thank you for letting us know. Your account is protected. We have temporarily locked your account and will call you during normal business hours to help resolve the issue. Please answer the call or call us at 1-800-420-5598 anytime to resolve this issue.”

Then I logged into my charge card account directly. There was no such activity listed, and my current balance was $0.

I then looked up the 800 above and found these reports of possible scam.

Thank you; I will be calling the # on the back of my card instead.

Phishing scam

Got a text from this number as short code 68785 saying it was SYNCHRONY BANK asking whether I made 3 credit card charges on my venmo card (2 were actual charges,  1 was declined - that was the fraud one). Reply Y or N . I replied N. Got a reply that someone would contact me during normal business hrs.  I thought that was odd. Went to call them and then my gut said hang up and call through the app directly.  Turns out it was phishing scam.  Next day I got 2 back to back calls from 1-844-657-0167 saying they were SYNCHRONY. I had already dealt with this matter the night before so I knew it was a scam.  Reported directly to synchrony using their number from their website.
