- Mary rutland replies to dougTrying to activate card.
- Alniesna PetersonThey got my social security number and claimed they were from Bank of America. They tried to open a line of credit in my name and the credit bureaus picked it up as and hard inquiry. They did if for American Express 2 also.
- Caller: Bank of America
- Mary replies to ScottYou are wrong this is a scam number! I was called and they were claiming to be BofA fraud department. They said someone charged on my BofA m/c and I don't have a BofA account. They also had my maiden name, which I haven't used since the 1980's! Credit report doesn't show a BofA account, so this is a fraud number and you are probably one of the scammers!

- Experian Hard Credit Hit| 1 replyThis number popped up in my Experian report. The information they provided makes them almost seem legitimate. They used information that almost makes this seem legitimate. The information on my credit report was:
BK OF AMER
PO BOX 982238,
EL PASO TX 79998
(800) 421-2110
When calling this number, they make it seem as though you are calling BoA with an automated voice system and everything. Reported this to Experian and made BoA aware of the fact that this PO Box shows up in a PDF that BoA has. If you want to see for yourself, google "PO BOX 982238,
EL PASO TX 79998" (in quotes). In addition to that, it would appear that they ran soft pulls of credit before attempting the hard credit hit. Very complicated scam, beware. - Obviously one of the scammers replies to KevYou are obviously one of the scammers. This is not a real BoA phone number. Verified directly with BoA after calling their customer service. You are obviously one of the scammers attempting to bring legitimacy to this number which is DEFINITELY posing as BoA.
- wtf replies to Experian Hard Credit HitI experienced the same exact thing. I got a hard pull on 8/25 and got it removed by Experian within a day. I got an alert yesterday (9/1) that a new account was made on 8/25. I am disputing this with Experian too... How long did your new account dispute take?
Additionally, I contacted BoA and they said there is no record of any accounts under my information. Did you do anything additional? I tried to file a police report but they said I can't file one without an affidavit from BoA which BoA is insisting they can't provide one because there is no real account.
Thanks! - RobScammers 100%. The number is REAL but its NOT set up to make OUTBOUND calls. If you call it, its not the scammers. If THEY CALL YOU its 100% a fake caller ID #. Keep them on hold forever and waste their time. They are even in this page/thread saying its NOT a scam to fool yall. Nice try. Follow ‘Scammer Payback’ on Youtube. They will educate you.
- KatCalled me twice yesterday, back to back. The caller ID on my landline phone said Bank of America. It was well after 6 pm, which I thought was strange anyway. I didn't answer. They called again the next night, at 6:22 pm. Again the caller ID says Bank of America. I decided to answer this one. Some foreign speaking guy is on the phone asking to see speak to me (by my name). Told me that $1000 purchase was made in California with my card. I told him I don't even live in California that I live in Florida. He said that he was sorry and apologized for the inconveniences. He told me that they were going to send me a new card and to not use my existing card. I had just done this when I had suspicious activity on my card from the same company called Apple.com in California. I told him that I just did this a couple of weeks ago and had just gotten a new card last week. That stumped him. Then he asked me for my last 4 digits of my card and I told him that I was not going to give him that info because I wasn't sure that he was really from Bank of America. He flat out asked me, did I not see the number on my ID ? I said yes but I still wasn't going to give him that info and that I would call my bank myself in the morning. He was fighting with me all the way up til the moment I hung up my phone. Lol
Little did this [***] know, that I do online banking and have the protection. I am alerted of suspicious activity. Nothing has shown up.- Caller: Caller ID said Bank of America

- Kevin Carpenter18004212110 and was asked numerous times for too much info only to be told I can not find out anything pertaining to my account. Even had 4pins sent to my phone! Caught the last one in a security lie and that was all I needed to know. Closing my BofA accounts and going elsewhere. I called to check credit card balance and never got that. Tried to cancel card due to fraud and was told to present ID and birth certificate at my local branch. Either way, all bad.
