- KP| 1 replyAnswered a call from 800-427-2449 and it was a LEGIT call from BofA fraud dept. Over the weekend BofA sent me an email that they were sending a replacement card because my card "may" have been comprimised (this has happened before). Today they phoned because they saw a couple of declined charges from yesterday and wanted to notify me why they were declined that a new card was coming. It was a very legit call and I appreciated the service.
- NotStupid replies to Me| 2 repliesOf course the link this guy keeps giving is a spoof. Mouse over it and see that it goes to 800notes.....blah...blah...blah.
Call the normal BofA number...they'll gladly transfer you to the fraud department. - George H| 1 replyI got a call from 800-427-2449. So, I called my card issuer (FIA Card Services), and transferred to their fraud department. There are some charges they had questions about (that were actually legitimate), but the call was real.
- Moe replies to NotStupidDon't know if this is actually BofA Fraud Department or not; didn't answer. But, I can tell you one thing: if it is BofA Fraud Department, they would KNOW i don't have ANY accounts at BofA; never have...methinks I smell shenanigans...
- TawnyaWhen I called, the man would not validate for whom he was calling until I gave some sensitive information which I refused to do. The posts above mention Bank of America with whom I don't have any credit cards. I called the number on the backs of my cards and there was no fraud on either.
- Melinda| 1 replyThis is a valid credit card fraud service, but not just for Bank of America. I don't have a BoA card, but I did have a valid fraud alert on my card with another bank. Call the number on your own card or statement rather than this number.

- PoimeneiThis appears to be legitimate. Someone from the 800-427-2449 number called me today, 3/3/14 at ~12:55 PM ET. They asked for me by name and said they had information about fraudulent activity on my Visa card with Bank of America. Since I work for BAC, this seemed suspicious to me. I GAVE THEM NO INFORMATION, saying I could check for fraudulent activity myself at bankofamerica.com. I'd been monitoring my Visa card closely since the Target data breach as purchases were made with the card during the time of the breach. It seemed even more suspicious when the caller said that it wasn't about transactions on the card.
I called the number on the back of my card, 800.205.6247, but got stuck in a call queue. I then looked up "bank of america fraud department" [sic] in Google search, and came to the link https://www.bankofamerica.com/privacy/report-lost-stolen-credit-card.go. The number I dialed from there is 1.800.732.9194. I entered my identifying information, then hit "0" to skip the prompts, after which I was connected with a CSR in Employee Banking.
I explained the situation re: the first "fraud" number. The CSR confirmed that the card had actually been tagged for suspicious activity and that a call had in fact been made to me earlier today. I told the CSR that I'd been monitoring my transactions online since the Target breach, but hadn't seen anything suspicious. The CSR confirmed that a new card had been sent two business days ago, and that the current card could be used locally until the new one(s) arrive. The CSR said that if I checked online, I should see the new card's ending 4 digits on the account profile and not the ending 4 digits for the current card, which is exactly what I saw, having missed this when I'd previously looked.
Bottom line: this particular transaction for me appears to have been legitimate. HOWEVER, DO NOT GIVE OUT ANY PERSONAL INFORMATION TO PEOPLE WHO MAKE THESE KINDS OF CALLS. CONTACT YOUR FINANCIAL INSTITUTION AND VERIFY WITH THEM IF THERE IS ANY POTENTIALLY FRAUDULENT / SUSPICIOUS ACTIVITIES OCCURRING ON YOUR ACCOUNT.- Caller: No Name (BA
- Regina replies to OleMy husband literally just got off the phone with BOA after calling the number on the back of the card. He expressed his concern regarding the phone call from the above number. The Bank of America representative said that was a legitimate call and number.
- BillI received a call and message as well today. Don't have any account with BoA so I called their Credit Card number from the legit BoA website and Customer Service confirmed that the 800 number is indeed the Bank of America fraud department. She took my name and zip code (only) and searched, confirming that I have no account with them and to disregard the call.
- Caller: Bank of America
- Customer| 1 replyI got the number called me. The person spoke to me on the phone claimed he was from Bank of America. He wanted to verify if I used my credit card in a store. I said "No", he right away closed my account, that's it. I did not tell him anything except my name.
I know the number is legitimate because my family is with FBI.- Caller: Bank of America

What a fracking joke. - deeI received a call today from 1-800-427-2449. Caller identified themselves as Michael and said they were checking for possible suspicious charges on my BOA card. My Caller ID showed "Unknown Caller". Since I did not trust that, I went on the BOA site and could not locate this particular number, so I just called the number on the back of my card and had them transfer me to the Fraud Department. I knew that my card had been compromised already and BOA was in the process of issuing me a new one. The DIRECT line to the Fraud section is 1-800-472-7970, which I also could not locate on their website. Sigh. I cannot say whether the number that originally called me is legitimate or not, as BOA did not confirm/deny that the number was one of their multitude of numbers. The best bet is, if you get a call, just begin with the number on the back of your card, since that is a legitimate number.
- Caller: BOA?
- FrankI received a call from this number last night in reference to some recent charges being valid. No verification of credit card number was requested, only verification of charges. As a precaution I called the number on the back of my card. I was told there was a note on my account of being called on the said date to verify some recent charges. Not sure why they called as the charges were small and were made within 15 miles of my residence. I had no balance on my account. In my case anyway this seemed to be a valid call.
