Got a call from this number, but they left no message. I checked out this thread and I do have an FIA Card Services credit card (Bank of America owns and runs FIA Card Services.) I called the number on the back of my credit card and it did come up that they had a question about a charge and just wanted me to verify it (and it was something I did charge). So if you do get a call from this number, call the number on the back of your credit card back to verify.

That is not a real Bank of America website. You can tell by looking at http vs https at the start of the URL. Bank of America's real website is secured, therefore is not http.

This is definitely not Bank of America although the number given is a Bank of America number. I received a voice mail asking me to call this number -- there was suspicious activity on my credit card. They did not say that they were BoA, but they gave the BoA Fraud number. I called and had my accounts checked -- personal and business -- neither one had any activity on them or notes about any calls to me this morning. I suspect that someone is trying to get a live person on the phone in order to get private information, but if there is no answer, they will at least create anger toward Bank of America. A strange situation, but I can see no other reason for it. The call did not come from 800-427-2449, but came from 302-458-1590. I dialed that number and a recording states that it is inactive. It gives a different number to call for an assistant -- 800-441-7048. When I called that number, a recording insisted that I must enter a 5 digit extension. Of course I didn't have one and "0" only caused it to hang up on me. So my detective work was finished for now. I'm ready for their next call. I will not be nice...I'm ready with a few ... ok more than a few choice words.

Got a call from 1-678-797-7000 (GA) it recorded on my voicemail and talked about fraud charges and told me to call 1-800-427-2449.  I called  the number on the back of my BOA CC and they verified there was a fraud alert on my account but I confirmed the charges.

My mother received a call from 1-800-427-2449, but the caller indicated that they were calling from the United Bank of California which as far as I can tell, does not exist.  They said that there were some possible fraudulent charges on my grandfather's Platinum VISA.  My mother controls his bank accounts and he doesn't have a VISA from that particular bank.  The caller then asked for her social security number (which she did NOT give out) and asked for the card number.  Whether it seems legitimate or not, that information should never be asked for.  Be careful!

My mother got a similar call with a message left on her answering machine.  When she called the number back, they said they were the United Bank of CA which I can't find a website or phone number for.  They said they were calling about my grandfather's platinum card which isn't something he has.  Then they asked for HER social security number and the credit card number.  I keep reading these messages that say the number is legitimately BofA fraud line, but I don't believe it.  Her call came through on Friday, Sept. 25th.  Very weird.  My mom was actually able to talk to a live person, but again, they asked for information that shouldn't be asked for.  Have you heard back from them again?  Just curious.

I got a call from a different number from a guy named steve.
he told me to call the 1800-427-2449. I did and was transferred to the
fraud department. after giving them my information, they said no matches came up and suggested that i call the number on the back of my card. I did and was again transferred to a fraud department. they asked me pertinent questions and i answered them then they disclosed that someone in Canada attempted to use my card... Canada! what's up with that?

I got a letter from "Bank of America" with subject "Account number ending in: 0930" It asked I call 1.800.427.2449. I have no account with that number. I reported it to Bank of America on their secure website.

It's legitimate. I contacted Bank of America's Security Office. The issue in my case was that they had two different addresses for me. I got it straightened out.

The number is legit people, they only ask verification questions if 1) there are risk factors on account or 2)you want them to make changes to the account: add phone #, add user, etc.

This is a big scam. The first thing they ask for is your social.  I have never had a Bank of America account of any kind.  I told them that and they keep asking for my social.  Do not give them any info.  Go to a Bank of America branch and ask them directly.

I received an answering machine call from this number today.  The recorded message was very bland and lacked detail - which made me suspicious.  Instead of calling the number left on the answering machine (8004272449) I called the number on the back of my Credit Card  (8004212110).  After the normal BofA security checks, I explained to the service rep why I was calling and asked if the number (800427244) was a ligit BofA number.  He confirmed it was and it is from the BofA CC Services Security dept.  T

A BofA computer had called because it noted some strange activity on my card.  It had to do with charging 0.87 cents worth of gas - and then immediately charging another $45 two minutes later from the same gas pump / station.  The charge was legit because I accidently bumped the pump lever just after I started filling my tank - and turned the pump off at 0.87 cents.  I then rescanned my card and completed my fill-up!  A ligitimate error on my part.

Kudoos to the BofA computer picking up on the error and calling me to warn of a potential fraudulent activity!  --Ah, but big brother is watching us all! --

The number was in a letter I received.  A very polished scam.  They're even trying to defend on this web site. Don't be FOOLED.  BofA would not do business this way.  Stay away.
