Call rec'd from same no. 800-427-2449 stating unusual activity on credit card. Threatening to put a hold on credit card. Did not mention whose bank it is but just to call above #.

Received a call from this number too. Instead of calling this number back,  I called the number on my credit card. I felt safer that way. It was the bank calling about a possible fraudulent charge.

..since scammers often spoof legitimate numbers, it's best to call the number on the back of your card...

Received a call from this number and since I've been getting a raft of unwanted crap calls, I was suspicious. It was supposedly about purchases needing confirmation and I was instructed to call Bank of America. Instead of calling this number I called BoA card services and they confirmed it WAS BoA calling.  IT IS LEGITIMATE, but to play your cards right, use the card services number to confirm the call.

It is indeed BOA Fraud Department! I called Bank of America customer service number from the back of my card and verified this info right after I hang up with Fraud Department
They didn't ask for my SS or any other information.

The site is designed to allow people to alert / warn others of fraudulent phone calls by sharing their call experience, so why would  anyone need to be alerted or warned about legitimate callers?

People who try "over selling" a phone number as legitimate are cause for suspicion, since people who know the number is legitimate wouldn't need to be convinced of the details once they recognized the name of who might have called. Scammers like to shill about a legitimate number, so use caution when receiving a call from this number.

THIS IS A SCAM.  Do not give out your information.  When pressed the individual said they were from BofA.  We gave them no useful information.  Called BofA and they confirmed it is not one of their numbers.  So, anyone saying it is legit is simply part of the scam.

Got a message from my house phone saying from Bank of America and my credit card had fraud charges and asked me to call back. The point is the last 4 digits of cc that they said doesn't belong to me,  it belongs to my son.  if there is fraud charges,  BOA will never contact me thru my house phone.  It should be thru my cell phone or email.  So I never call them back.  The point is where did they get my son's last 4 digits cc # and my house phone #.  I bet if I call back,  they will asked me to verify all the digits of my cc and security code.  The scam is getting better and better.  I for sure will call back,  but my son asked me to check before calling back.

This was a caller who spoofed a legitimate BofA number.  Before we got into the call, I told her that there was no way I could tell if she was real or not.  I called the BofA number on the back of my card and they told me they did not call.

So, despite all the people on this site telling you otherwise, there is a good chance the caller is a fraud.

How can you tell?  If they ask for a PIN, Social or any personal information, it's a scam.  BofA will never ask for that.

If they tell you there's fraudulent activity and give you specific dates, times, and amounts and ask you if that was  you, it may be a real call.  Of course, it may be a scammer trying to make you feel comfortable before asking you for a PIN number or Social.

Just call the number on the back  of your card.

For me, this was BofA. I called the fraud line over  a cc issue and he had my info in front of him and then he called me back to verify HE was actually talking to the real ME. I would always be careful, spoofing real numbers is common and criminals are very good at what they do.

These are scammers posing for Bank of America. First they send you a text message to your cell phone giving you some code number you supposedly requested for a transaction and then they call you saying they are BOA Fraud Department and that somebody is trying to use you credit card. Then they start asking personal questions. I was suspicious and hung up on them and called BOA. Bank f America said they never do this and that these were scammers trying to steal my personal information. Be aware!!!

I got a call from  this number. I think BOA system may have been  breached. I say this because of the following reasons.  I got a call from this number saying that it was BOA fraud department.   I was asked normal questions at first. I turned suspicious when I was asked what's the exact number on my card  wanted my social security number I said I'm not giving it to you, you should have that info. Let me transfer you a lady came on after a couple of minutes. She asked what are you calling about today your card or other account.  Oh you got the wrong department  let me transfer you. Back to the first voice that seem familiar. He asked what's  the exact name on your card. Then he asked what's security code on the back of my card. I said I'm not giving that to you because if I give it to you, you can take money out of my account you have you'll have enough information to withdraw funds from my account. He said if you don't give it to me I won't be able to open up your account and you'll have to go to the bank when it opens  to withdraw money.  I saidthen I'll have to wait a couple of days I won't starve. With that I hung up. They asked to many questions that they should have known watch out.

None of your reasons explain why you "think BOA system may have been  breached."

I received a letter supposedly from Bank of America, it’s FRAUD. The letter states to call 1 800 427 2449 It’s FRAUD. I called BOA and they have no record of the letter or the account number. I called the legitimate BOA phone number which is 1 800 421 2110 Don’t call the number on a letter or e-mail. Don’t answer a suspicious phone call. If legitimate they will leave a message. Always call the number on back of the credit card or bill statement.
