This is a fraud! They asked for my entire credit card # and I wouldn't give it. She then sent me a text message and asked for the code ontop of asking for my social.

I called Bank of America right after and reported fraud . Had to get a new card!

got a call from this number and it implied it was for my recent credit inquiry. They left a reference number to call them back. Anytime BoA has called me the caller ID has identified them as BoA so this is highly suspicious to begin with. I'll call my bank directly and ask them about it. Never call back a number on caller ID or left in a VM. If it's your actual bank you can call the number on the back of your card

I did too, called the number in the letter to activate my new card and they confirmed it was a direct line to their fraud department, because I also believed it was a scam. I think the number is legit but if you get a cold call from that number, then it's the scam

Why has my BOA Visa card been restricted, and what does "restricted" mean.

    Astrolyre replies to Brian Darcy
All credit cards are restricted - only authorized people can use it - that is, you and whoever you authorize.
The caller is lying to to you about the status of your card, while telling a factual truth about it, to make you think there is some reason to call them back and give them information they can use to rip you off.
You could call Bank of America and ask them, but there is really no need to waste their time with a scam call.
