- ZeemanSCAM!! Repeating all the other comments here. Several things -- these scammers are persistent. They have called us 6 times in the last week -- call in there early morning -- 0800. They have spoofed an old legitimate Chase number that was in use several years ago. "We are here to HELP you". Also -- don't know if this possible --
but after telling these thieves to buzz off, this credit card gets rejected every time (did these guys somehow make this happen?).- Caller: 800 DSERVICES

- chase customerGot the text for a fraud alert and they text me this number to call. so the number is legit

- JBCalled my work number (which I have had for over 12 years) and left a message for a person I've never heard of, with last 4 of Chase card number, and asked her to call 800-454-9078. It has been years since I've gotten a wrong number call at work, and those few were always business calls, trying to reach the person who had this number before I got it in 2007.
I am a Chase customer, and they do not give out that number anywhere. Even on their web site, the instructions in case of fraud are to call the number on the back of your card.
I believe this to be fraud. Even if it is stupidity on Chase's part rather than fraud, take my advice as an email security professional and do not call the number. Call the number on your card, only.- Caller: Claimed to be Chase

- RS replies to garyIT is not a legit phone #
noone call this number, Call Chase direct. - RSDO NOT CALL. DO NOT LISTEN TO ANYTHING HERE THAT SAYS TO CALL IT,,,,, ITS ALL FALSE.
FAKE #, ALWAYS CALL THE # ON YOUR CARD. I GOT A TEXT, CALLED CHASE DIRECT, THEY VERIFIED THEY DO NOT HAVE THIS #. Any post that says its a good number, on any site or web search, is fake.
My Chase alert came in the form of a text with a mobile code # of 72166, which is actually a chase code #,.... so the scammers are spoofing where the number comes from. do not call this number, do not give out pins or socials.- Caller: mobile text coce 72166
- JB MichiganDon't fall for it! I got several calls and messages from this number over the last few days. Message says they're from Chase fraud department. I don't have a Chase card. They referred to a name and last four digits that aren't mine. Also got a call from 847-426-9209, which others say is also Chase. This is definitely some POS that is spoofing Chase's numbers.

- Major Matt| 3 repliesSince there are so many posts saying that this number "800-454-9078" is either a legitimate or a scam number. I was hesitant to call the number. I received a text from "721-66", Chase Fraud with my last four credit card numbers and a request to verify a declined charge of $###.## with a "Yes or NO " If I was the person making the charge, please reply. Which I replied "No" and then received a followup text to call "800-454-9078". Also that my card was turned off and needed to contact Chase. I also received an email about the declined charge but it referenced calling the phone number on the back of the credit card if I had any questions. Another item: I also received a automated call for Chase "800-454-9078" I did not answer but a computer voice message was left, With my full name, last four numbers of the credit card, subject about recently declined charges, please cal "800-454-9078". Finally checked my online account, I was unable to request a new card since the card was locked and I needed to call customer service. So, I called the number on the back of my credit card instead. After having to wait for over 30 minutes on hold ( This is during the COVID-19 so the customer support center is minimally staffed right now ) I finally was able to verify the declined charges and my old card was cancelled and a new card and number was issued ( just as well the old card was looking worn out). I also verified the number "800-454-9078" is in fact a correct Chase Fraud Number. Oddly, they do not have that number posted on their security website. Bottom line: If in doubt call the number on the back of your credit card or use the customer service number from your statement. I my case the customer service number was the same on both.

- BigA replies to Major Matt| 2 repliesSo, you knew who called you and looked up the number anyway? Wait, you did not look up the phone number since you did not get a call from this number, correct?
- Major Matt replies to BigA| 1 replyThe first text was from 721-66 at 01:08 am "Chase Fraud: We Declined $119.00 with card ending #### at Amazon Prime on 04/02. Was this you? Reply YES or NO. Msg & data rates may apply." I replied "No" and then received the following text "Chase: Thanks. Your card can't be used until we speak to you. Call 800-454-9078 or the number on your card to turn it on or order a new one." I just thought it was odd and started to research the phone number. before I blindly called the number listed. I just did not know if the text from 721-66 was real or not.
about 20 hours later I received a call that I let go to voice mail from 800-454-9078. referencing the declined charges and that I needed to call chase fraud.
Having called Chase using the phone number on the back of the card. They issued me a new card. That was when I asked them about 800-454-9078 and they verified that the number is one of their fraud support numbers. Which I have add to my list of support numbers that are safe to use. - post pending moderator approval

- Kat* replies to Kenneth SchockInstead of asking someone who posted on a phone number look-up site 14 YEARS AGO why don't you contact Chase @ a known phone number, such as the one on the back of your card?
