- Melissa replies to JamaI am trying to dispute the same charge on my AT&T bill... the # listed to call is for voicemail services and they claim they have no idea about any efax charges.

I called AT&T (1 888 298-3724). They will creadit me and cancel the
voice mail service that I did not oreder. - A in Kentucky| 2 repliesI had a charge for 14.95 + tax on my phone bill from NETWORK ASSURANCE-EFAX SVC 1-800-460-0078. When I called they said I signed up for it while on usprize.com at 5:46am on a Saturday morning. I am not up at that hour especially on a Saturday. I was never called directly from the company, it just showed up on my bill. They said they would cancel service and credit me in 1-2 billing cycles. I'll have to wait and see.
- cp replies to A in KentuckyI got the same charge on my phone bill also, who are these people. Tried calling the number but they were closed for the day. I goggled it and found many others have same problem.....One question...did you install TaxCut, wonder if it was bundled with it....I don't remember seeing anything asking to install it.
Hmmmm erroneous charges..AT&T SUX!!!!!!! I can't wait until our power company goes fiber optic. I'm dropping AT&T like a lead balloon. - P| 1 replyWe had the same issue with the 14.95 charge on our ATT bill. They claimed I signed up for the service but happily refunded the money (at least they say they are going to, I haven't seen the refund yet). I'll keep you posted. This is weird and I don't even know what the service is.....
- G.R.| 1 replyI didn't receive a phone call, but an e-mail confirmation of having signed up for this "fax service" and that I would be billed $14.955 a month for the service. I called the # listed on the message. I was told that someone from my e-mail and address had signed up for the service at 5:23 A.M. this morning. We weren't even up then. They claim they will not put through the charges on my phone bill and even gave me a confirmation #. The only info about me they had wrong was the maiden name of my mother. I'll have to wait to see if charges appear on my phone bill.
- Laura replies to G.R.Yep...I have had this done...THEY WILL NOT REFUND!!! But they will act so nice on the phone as if they are doing you a favor! I am calling my phone company and if they do not refund this to me since they are allowing this I am cancelling my phone and just using my cell!!!
- LinderI got a call from my neighbor who had a bill on their Frontier bill for $14.95 for voicemail from EBSI. When he called them, they told him that I had signed them up. Our numbers are not similar. He called the phone company and they refunded his charges and claimed to start an investigation. I want to know how they got my name for my neighbor. This sounds like a major scam. I am pissed. Going to get to the bottom of this

- SharreI received a charge of 14.95 on my phone bill from NETWORK ASSURANCE, INC. for an EFAX SVC MTHLY FEE. I immediately called the number and after answering a few basic questions name/mailing address was told the charges would be refunded not only for the bill I had in hand but the 2nd charge for the current month as well. Was told it would take 1-2 billing cycles before it went into effect. The funny thing is that I never asked for the credit/refund when I called. (Which of course is why I had called) They offered to refund before I disputed the charges! And as previous post stated was very friendly etc. They didn't give me a time frame as to when I supposedly signed up, but did give a name of someone I do not know....Michael Bauer or (Bower) not sure of last name spelling. Charging someone for a fee they never wanted/ordered/requested can not be legal...

- PJSeveral months ago I received an e-mail from a friend of mine. Or so I thought. Her address book had been hijacked. When I opened the e-mail, I knew right away something was wrong. I still can't use my AT&T/Yahoo mail account because a bogus IM pops up everytime. When I received my next AT&T phone bill, it had the bogus 14.95 charge from Network Assurance Efax on it. AT&T said there was nothing they could do. Couldn't get through to a person on the Efax end. So I decided to cancel the entire AT&T phone and internet service. I don't need a house phone and I went to Cox for internet. I thought not having a phone or internet would solve the problem but I am still getting charged 14.95 a month from AT&T. Don't know what to do now.

- CJ_AG99I received several charges from NETWORK ASSURANCE-EFAX SVC MTHLY FEE. I have called twice to have these charges reversed and they are only willing to reverse half of the fraudulent charges. This is total crap, and this company should be shut down. When I called AT&T they gave me the number 888/568-6361 to call. So, when I did they acted like it was my problem!
- FURIOUSI received the 14.95 charge from these [***] on my AT&T bill today. Wouldn't you know it: AT&T won't do anything about it, and the mysterious company's call center is closed. Obviously I never authorized the charge and this is an incredible scam. I am seething right now.
- Jessey MorganI didn't recieve a call but I got them to credit me 3 months worth of charges they will NOT refund the March charges, how they do it is if you sign up for a program to get something free like submit these offers get a free iPod? Yes that's how they do it, or on Social networking sites you do a survey that's how they do it, they don't or maybe do ask permission through a ToS that which most people ignore and you put the E-Mail it's sent to and add the Phone which for one you don't want telemarketters calling your cell so you put your home phone cause it's on the do not call list. Believe me our friend was the one to sign up for it now we are paying out the [***] for it. Here is the website for you so everyone can call and dispute and also cancel and then the Email support to get an extra refund like I hope I get.

- GermaineDid not get a call but during March 2009 I noticed a charge of 14.95 on my bill, I made a mental note to check it out then I forgot - I have auto bill debit from my checking and did not think of it again until today July 21, 2009. My bill went from 50.00 a month to 87.06. I called the phone companuy (Verizon) and was told to call 800-460-0078 - I was being billed from this number onto my home phone for enhanced services. Calling the number it was explained to me regarding MP3 downloads - I explained I never authorized any such thing - asked to have it stopped and a refund. Refund would take at the maximum 2 billing cycles perhaps 1. The phone company has a "cram block" that can be placed on the phone to prevent this and it is free - which made me wonder why the phone company do not automatically give this to the customer as an effort to help protect them from such scams. Will see what happens.

- Stop the Evil Empire replies to dviefhausI recieved a bogus charge on my AT&T bill from Enhanced Billing Services 1-888-293-3724 for $14.95. When I called AT&T they said I had to call the service to cancel. However, they expected me to pay the full bill until they recieved credit.
Call your service provider and tell them IMMEDIATELY you do not allow 3rd party charges without your explicit permission. This should be the default but in oder to allow scams it is not.
A supposedly reputable company such as AT&T should not allow charges by 3rd party companies that are posted all over the internet as scams. This is a black mark on them. - Dave| 2 repliesAnother fireman I work with was scammed by them so I checked my bill. They got me also! I am waiting to see if they refund. Over a hundred dollars...
I will complain with FCC and Utilitie Commission and request everyone else do also.
