- LivswolvesThey just left recording saying I been notified they don't tell you who they are call better business Bureau on them
- ccs replies to E's QueenYou sound judgmental. Bad things happen in life, like the loss of a job or death of a family member but the credit card companies don't care. They still try to collect regardless. You need to know a person's individual circumstances before your pass your judgmental replies!
- Jenny replies to E's QueenYou people should really be more respectful and considerate of others. Life happens and not everyone has perfect credit. These guys were saying they were collecting a debt on MY behalf, however it was bogus. I do not owe them for anything. Never had any line of credit they've laid claim to. I feel these ppl call random folks proclaiming to have an important business matter to resolve. Fishing is a nuisance and some of us would just like to be left alone and not bothered with bogus calls every day.
- Amused replies to E's QueenPay your bills? You're my job security!! ??? What an absolute ass you are! This company claimed I owed them money, I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT!! When speaking with them, they had my ssn 2 digits off matching my b-day, first clue. They didn't wanna disclose information about the creditor which made me very suspicious. They just kept asking for a check in the amount of 487 even to be written out to some gas station I've never even heard of. So don't go blowing off at the mouth about stuff if you haven't the slightest idea what someone's situation is.
- Jen replies to personThey do what's called skip tracing and look for your nearby neighbors and family to contact you if you don't answer their attemps. They are only allowed to do it once in the life of having your account. It's not illegal unless they do contact them more than the one time.
- Katie| 2 repliesIt is a debt collector calling in behalf of Ameren Missouri. I spoke with a man named James and he was so nice. I didn’t even know I had a remaining balance and he helped me take care of it very easily.
- Call type: Debt collector
- MikeHuntleton replies to KatieSHILL ALERT!Katie

Is attempting to trick anyone reading this thread that when a scammer like one of them calls, its ok to answer. These shills always act like the calls did wonderful things for them, so you believe it will happen to you too. They are telling you lies about their calls because they want you to let them try scamming you.
Telling about a debt collector without providing any information about who they are, is a classic Shill post. Why would anyone come post about having a debt collector call them for "forgetting" they owed money to Ameren Missouri, an Energy Utility company?

Just because someone on the phone calling you says you owe a debt does not mean you actually owe it.
If a voice on the telephone claims you owe a debt:
1. Demand the person give you his or her name, company name, and address
2. Demand a debt validation letter by US mail. E-mail no good.
3. Do not pay the collection agent or anyone else a dime until the debt is validated
Of course they won’t do this, no scammer ever will, so simply ignore them and block their calls.
If they are bothering you, report them:
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0149-debt-collection (Threatening civil proceedings with no intent to follow through, or threatening criminal process in order to collect a civil debt is a violation of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.) The same goes for endless telephone harassment
Note that the US Supreme Court in the Case of HENSON ET AL. v. SANTANDER CONSUMER USA INC., has recently ruled that the provisions of the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act do not apply if the creditor owns the debt in question. As a practical matter this probably won't effect the kinds of scam debt collectors who often show up on 800notes. The scam collectors don't give you any information about themselves so it is impossible to know whether or not they in fact "own" the debt in question. Most do not send debt validation letters and many often say they are collecting for someone else. So, make the complaint anyway if they are bothering you. Let the FTC sort it out.
Also contact your local attorney general
If they continue to bother you, and you know you do not owe any money, tell them that you know this is a debt scam and that you are making a complaint to the police for extortion. Once you get a copy of the police report and they call you again , just read out the file number and the name of the PD or Sheriff’s office involved. Tell them you’ll be glad to send a copy to them at whatever address the jack***es are working out of now.- Caller: Informational post
