- DanOk this is def not a scam. Got a message from this phone # saying they were calling from Apple & that there was an iPad mini purchase on my CC. She didn't ask for any info~she just asked if we made the purchase & she only told me the name on the credit card and the last 4 digits. No other info was given or asked. I called 800myapple to confirm & sure enough, there was a purchase. Called my CC co. right away & cancelled my card.
- Caller: Apple
- JohnQMost likely fraud. They left a voice message at my office regarding an "Online Apple Store" purchase and needed to verify my credit card. I called 800-506-3096, a recording answered "Apple" and to enter the extension. The extension 5261361 (7 digits is too many) probably forwarded to another location where Ashley answered (same person who left the voice message). I only provided my name and then I asked the questions. The attempt was for a $500 E-Gift card against my Visa. The first last-4 digits given were incorrect (the ploy), but the second card referenced was correct. Somehow they had obtained my credit card number and office phone number. It is worth calling the frauds back to find out which credit card info they have. Then you can retrace your purchases and identify the source of the "leak", then report it to the proper authorities to investigate.

- Fishb8N8CHECK INTO THIS! Received a voicemail from "Apple Online Services" asking to verify a charge on my credit card. I have not made any purchases with Apple. My immediate suspicion was some sort of scam. After reading the comments here I decided it was worth looking into. Called 1800myapple directly and they did report a purchase which matched the order number I was given on my original voicemail, however, because none of the billing addresses I gave him matched the billing info he had for the card, he would not give me any further information. When I asked him what I should do, he suggested calling back the number on the voicemail. I called 800-506-3096 and entered the extension 5261545. At that point I gave her the order number from her voicemail that apple verified and she already had all of my information without giving it to her. She reported a charge for around $700 for an iphone6. I told her that I had not made the purchase. She then said she would "cancel the order on her end" but suggested I contact my "bank or credit card company to report it." Called my CC company and they also confirmed that a purchase was made for around $700. Changed my card. I don't believe that this is a scam. Either way my card was compromised and an unauthorized purchase was made.

- Paula Sjust contacted Apple and they confirmed this phone # is not theirs and is a phishing email with this number. I have no pending orders although the rep said there were quite a few inquiries...not from me...trying to get the order to go through but they did not have enough info from the "caller"....I changed my apple ID and password to try and avoid further problems...I also notified my bank to be on the safe side to check for any pending charges.....I only received two emails and not a phone call.
- Caller: unknown.
- Chris LI received a message from this number from Scott on extension 5260825. I also had a message on my voicemail from my bank fraud department saying they had some suspicious charges. Turned out there were 3 charges totaling about $4000 that someone tried to put through, 2 of the charges were for the Apple Store and one for Monster Cable Products. The bank canceled these charges and my credit card so stopped that one but..... very annoying. Don't know where they got my Apple info from but changed my password now.
- TDThis number is for Apple's online store. The number on the caller id was (512) 674-2000 but they tell you to call them back at (800) 506-3096. They called me to confirm an order before shipping out since the delivery address was different than the credit card billing address. It's good they did because someone fraudulently used my credit card to place an order. Definitely call them back and check your credit card activity if you get a call from them about an order you did not place!
- Caller: Apple on-line store
- spam recipientgot a fake Apple Store email claiming someone ordered a laptop for $2K to my address. Luckily I know I don't have $2K on any card so I'm not even worried b/c the dumb [***] couldn't have even made such an order if he/she did get a hold of my card(s). It WAS a clear phishing scam though since 1-800-506-3096 ISN'T Apple's number. It's a phisher's number and I didn't call it to find out - that only confirms my number.
- Caller: Pretending to be an EMAIL confirmation from Apple Store, w/ this number listed
- this is a scam!!!The Apple thing is all b.s.. This is a scam and they try to get you to call back #1.800.506.3096. The original number they called from is in Austin, TX and that number is1.512.674 2000.. They leave a name and a order number and a confirmation number. They even had my name.. So I look into it and they tried to charge over $900 on my check card and it was declined for NSF. I didn't have $900 in my account. The one time I have been glad to be broke?! The company that my bank said tried to charge is called Rip Curl. Whatever that is. The comments on this site that say it is legit Apple on-line store are placed by the scammers. F.U. scammers!!! Me-1 vs. scammers -0
- Caller: Rip Curl pretending to be Apple on-line
- MicheleI received a message on our house phone, it showed up as Apple. The woman "Jessica" left a message with my name saying she has a question on my account purchase.
I tried calling back & no one returned my call. Then I thought to look the number up & see I'm not the only getting scammed!! Just block the number.- Caller: Apple scam
- HurricaneFanThis is legit, its not a scam. They are confirming online apple orders that look suspicious.
- D MillerTotal Scam. I sell on Craigslist and Ebay. I am aware of what is a scam and what is not... Ignore them and give them no information...
- daveThis is the real Apple number. They called to check on a charge that turned out to be fraudulent, and did not ask for any personal or credit card info. They had the last 4 of my CC number.
- Caller: Apple
- AudreyIt's a legit number. I got an email shortly after I made my purchases, that said to call them to confirm my purchase. I have called every apple support number to figure out why they are holding my products, and they even patched me through to this number. It's just to authorize that you DID make the purchase they received.
- Caller: 18005063096
- bettyThis number was a call from Apple to confirm a purchase, but I had not made a purchase, so, thanks to Apple, I was able to avoid having fraudulent charges made to my credit card.
- Caller: Apple
- el jefethis is a legit number. apple didn't call me, though: they emailed it to me. i placed an online order with apple and received an email saying my CC billing info didn't match the billing info i gave them and that they wanted to ensure it was an authorized transaction. instead of calling the number they gave in the email, i called apple directly, and they confirmed the number, name and extension of the "specialist" who is trying to verify that i made an order. the number does not show up in a search of apple's website, which i found suspicious, so i i waited on hold for 35 minutes with apple to confirm it's legit. it is.
- Caller: Apple
- Stephanie replies to TomApple could resolve the problem by having a listed PHONE number (hey, telecommunications is still the most trusted form!) so people like us that have overly sensitive fraud detection advocates (aka CC companies) can authenticate and resolve purchase issues. How the hell am I supposed to call some stranger on a number given to me in an email and wait and answer this strangers security questions he or she has of me?? Right. The recourse is to now wait 30 days for the charge to drop off and go back into my account, and travel to an Apple Store in person, polluting the environment along the way, and re-order and re-submit CC!!
- SCAM ALERTTHIS IS A SCAM!!!!!!!!!!! DO NOT BELIEVE THIS! CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD COMPANY RIGHT AWAY!! Got a phone call form (512)674-2000 told me he was from the apple store and asked me to confirm if I bought a computer. Don't know how he got my number in the first place if I did not order a computer and he knew the last 4 digits of my credit card. He was trying to get personal information out of me. I told him I would call him back later because I was at work and he gave me another number to call back: 1(800)506 3096. Did not call them back and went straight to my credit card company just to find an unauthorized charge.
- Caller: "Apple"
- AHThe call is legit. I called the 1800-my apple number to confirm the phone call and check my order. She said if it was a call from Jenny, then it was legit. They just verify that the number is linked to the right order for bigger shipments.
- Caller: Apple
- atsCaller from 512-674-2000 left a message saying they were Apple's online store calling to confirm an iPhone purchase. They asked me to call back at 800-506-3096 w/ a really long extension number. I couldn't tell from this thread whether the callback number was legit or a scam, so I logged in to my credit card accounts and found one with a charge pending at an Apple store for an iPhone.
Called my credit card directly and cancelled the card right away and went ahead and called the 800-506-3096 number left by the guy saying he was from Apple and left a message saying that I did not authorize any purchases in my name, but didn't leave any other information just in case it was a scam (I swear I still can't tell). They haven't called back yet, but I'll try to update this if they do call back.
Regardless of whether this call from Apple is legit, definitely check your credit cards immediately and call your credit card companies about any unauthorized purchases. Best practice is probably to reach out to a known Apple number directly if you want to cancel an Apple purchase -- I'll be doing that next.- Caller: Apple (allegedly)
- Herb H replies to K| 1 replyIt's NOT a scam. Apple has a department that investigate strange purchases on their website. I got a call from this number that said I just bought an Iphone7 online (which I DID NOT). I thought it was a scam so I called Apple directly (phone number on their website). After the usual computerized crap, I was connected to a live person that said the call was real and explained that they always investigate strange purchases (undefined) online. The person connected me to their fraud department that immediately revoked the charge on my credit card (which I had check and it was there for $807.69). They also cancelled my existing card and issued me a new one.
I DID call the number in question, got a recording and left my name, number and transaction number. About 3 hours later, a guy called that said the PURCHASE was fraudulent (NOT the call). He also said the so-called purchaser had my address. I asked why the scammer would have the phone sent to my address and he said the scammers call after the product has shipped and CHANGE the delivery address.
HEY, I'VE GOT AN IDEA, DON'T ALLOW PURCHASERS TO CHANGE THE DELIVERY ADDRESS!!! Apple and other online merchants should make this a policy.
