They sent me a text and left a voice message. They did not have the right name on the text. They just want you to call back and give them personal details. Looks like debt collector or scam artist. Best to block the number.

To Smart to Fall-DON'T GIVE INFO
August 16, 2019 - Call from this number saying they are Hertz.  They want information - "Anna" in Central America.  I refused to give information.  Said they would hold me responsible for the car.  Told them they were a scam and I was reporting them.  They are trying to get information.  DO NOT TELL THEM ANYTHING.  "Anna" hung up on me

I have been receiving calls from this number for about 2 weeks.  Decided to call them back just in case of identity theft.  The message stated that it was the Hertz corporation and sent me through several prompts, then was placed on hold for an operator which never came after about 10 min; so I hung.  I decided to google the number before returning the call again and found these comments.  I won't bother any longer.

I received a letter with this 800 number at the end.  It looked very suspicious as I had not rented a car from Hertz, but I had been a victim of identity theft previously so I was concerned.  After finding this site on a google search and reading the comments, I almost decided it was a scam and not to call.  To be safe I called an official Hertz customer service number and provided them with the information in the letter.  They confirmed someone had in fact rented a car using my info.  I spoke with several others in the company and eventually called 800-552-8482 to expedite the fraud process.  Seeing people say “ignore it” and it’s simply a “robocall scam” makes me wonder if the people committing these crimes are writing these things and trying to buy themselves more time/prevent their victims (you) from filing police reports and getting the car reported stolen as quickly as possible.  If you get a call or letter I suggest you contact Hertz to confirm  if someone used your info to rent a car, and then contact your local police department immediately to get the ball rolling on clearing your name.

Received a call from 800-552-8482. Claims I had not return the car I returned on 2/16/2020 and today is //19/2020. Called the number back and it takes you to a number that says if you know the Hertz Extension you are calling fro to dial it now. The Message cuts off before it gives the rental agreement number and no extension to dial. TOTAL SCAM!!!!

I recently rented from Hertz and recently got the same call about car seriously overdue even though it was a one day rental returned ON THE SAME DAY!  I’m going to call Hertz directly to verify they have the car but found it strange that I got this call literally the day after I rented the car directly from Hertz.  Annoying....

Read these posts, this number is still at it, apparently 3 years now. Still states overdue rental car with a "reference number". Has called me multiple times.

Received a letter claiming a car we rented was past due. We’d recently had identity theft so it didn’t surprise us this happened. Called 800#, waited 45 mins only to be hung up on. Needed to get it straightened out so called back. Again, 45 mins and hung up on. Posted complaint on hertz FB page now in process of contacting EVERY executive associated with Hertz. Copy and paste. No skin off my behind.

Got a call tonight from this number from "Hertz Corporation", telling me my "Hertz / Dollar / Thrifty" rental was overdue. I have recently rented a car from Hertz, but I returned it on Sunday, an hour before it was due back (and watched the attendant drive it back into the storage lot). So, just to be safe, I looked up my confirmation number on the Hertz web site (if there were outstanding charges, it would be still be an active file) - and there's no record to speak of. I may still call Hertz to verify that I'm in good standing, but I assume from the many previous comments that this is some sort of data-mining operation. I am a little worried about how/whether they got info about me renting a vehicle, or if this is just a really weird coincidence.

    Question
Keep receiving a call stating I have not turned my a rental.  Does not refer to my name and cuts off when giving the verification number.  They do give a website or email.  This is definitely a scam although when calling a recorder comes on saying it’s Hertz rental, but then after no one ever comes out and they play a very disturbing music that just drives you nuts waiting.  My wait was 10 minutes and no one came out.

This scammer did same to me.  Asked me for my Hertz rental # when I called.  Says my car return is seriously late.  When I said I don't have the #(apparently they left me the# in their VM, which didn't match the # on my rental agreement), they asked if I still had the car and when I returned it and then said, please disregard.  DO NOT CALL BACK... THEY STILL KEEP CALLING ME.
