- Nicole OGot 2 calls in the last week stating same thing. We have rented from Hertz and Penske in the last 2 months. I personally brought the vehicles back myself. Do like everyone else thinks these scammers and getting into the Hertz system somehow. I think I might call them back and play along. Tell them sorry I loved the car so much I wanted to keep it.

- Boxerboy replies to Admin Assistthank you so much for posting it I just got 15 calls in the last day. Must be smart technology criminals because I am renting..
Not calling them back - not happyReceived call for first time today. Initially tried calling back thinking someone rented and stole my identity. While on hold, googled number and came to this site and thus hung up phone.

- G00SEJust got a call from "Hertz", stating that I have a over due rental. I have never rent a car in my life. Probably just another scammer.

- Renee RiceI have been getting calls everyday I am however renting a car from hertz but they are telling me it is past due I don’t answer the 800 number and they don’t leave a message but I received two letters from them and they say my car is overdue back to them as of feb 5 however I paid two more weeks on the feb 12 and two more weeks today feb 26 and when I called to make payment because of the letter I was skeptical to make it thru app and or on line I just called it in and they processed it. Funny thing is as soon as I authorized it that same number was calling while I was waiting for them to come back on the line to verify it. I want to say now that I have paid it am about to block this number and disregard the letters. This is some crazy stuff though told me I won’t be able to rent from them and critically overdue and more in the letter. Also claims I should of dropped it off to another location not the address that I picked up from. I’m concerned to how do they know when I’m talking to them and why they are calling. Hope someone can get this under control it is annoying got me scared my rental has to be taken back and I rent it for my Uber job.

- Melanie Jones replies to HertzcustomerI had the same problem. Except I still have the car and got 2 texts that they are calling the police to get the vehicle if I don't call with a new credit card number?? Tf
- annoyedi returned my hertz rental two weeks ago. I keep getting call after call from this number and they leave voicemail after voicemail stating my rental is overdue. i also received a text message asking me to call this number back AND a letter demanding i return the car. i called hertz customer service last week and they confirmed that the location i retured the car to just hasn't closed out my rental yet and they emailed the location asking them to close it out. still receiving the calls, hertz hasn't returned my emails and hasn't replied to my twitter dm's to their account. this is truly ridiculous.

- Everyone needs to report this number| 1 replySame experience as others have described before me. I just registered a complain with the FTC (Do Not Call Registry). All of us need to so this so that the FTC investigates this BS scammer. Complaint website is here: https://www.donotcall.gov/report.html
- Kat* replies to Everyone needs to report this numberYou DO know the DNC registry only applies to telemarketers, right?
- Traveler212They keep calling and leaving messages over and over. Spoke to someone named Max and when pressed if this is Hertz, they stammered and said yes. Hung up immediately.
- Caller: Hertz
- PeteReceived a call from this number and they left a message claiming it was Hertz car rental. I haven't rented from Hertz in years. Clearly it's a fake call. Don't bother calling it back.

- BryanReceived robocall saying, "This is the Lyft Corporation calling regarding your lift rental. Your rental has not been auto renewed with Lyft. Your rental has passed the maximum allowed rental days or there is a hold on the rental vehicle. It is urgent to return vehicle today. You are at risk of repossession at your expense, and permanent suspension of your rental privileges. We urge you to give this matter your immediate attention by calling us at 800-552-8482. Please reference your rental agreement number." I have never even entertained the idea of renting or riding with Lyft. Unfortunately I could not get in contact with anyone at Lyft. It seems they do not want to personally help their customers or anyone that is a potential customer. Since Lyft was no help. I did a search of the phone number and thankfully found this Blog. The internet is truely a love / hate relationship.

- VictoriaAs all the previous replies, I received two very threatening phone calls, plus a threatening letter telling me law enforcement will be contacting me, as well as the district attorney.
Why is this fake-number still operating? I called the real Hertz and they told me my car return was not processed for numerous days which was their mistake. Hertz knows about this! No apologies, no follow-up, no nothing. I’ve been renting from Hertz for decades… not any longer. They are clearly aware of what is happening. Hertz did send me the threatening letter (was confirmed). If they deny this to any of you, they are lying.- Caller: Hertz

- CKry| 5 repliesTHIS IS CLEARLY A SCAM. I have now received 7 voice mails about an alleged overdue rental. Like others, I haven't rented a car in years. I tried calling back because it felt like a good opportunity to scream at someone but I was on hold for 5 minutes and realized it wasn't worth my time. It is ridiculous that this has been going on for 5 years and no one has shut it down.
