I got a call from them today. I told the man on the phone that it wasn't a good time that I had sick kids... he laughed and said he had two of his own and kept talking.. I couldn't get a word in at all.  He paused after asking a question and it took me a minute to figure out what all he said.  He wanted a donation to get drugs and guns out of school.  He asked if he could send me the paperwork and read off my address.  I told him to just send the paperwork and me and my husband would look over it.  He then asked again about the money and said it "is only $12".  I told him again to just send me the papers and I would see.  He kept pestering me to commit to giving him money and I flat out told him that it did not matter the amount that any donations that are given out our house are discussed first.  He then said "well $12 is not a big deal so nevermind" and hung up!  

From all that I have read in postings and my personal experience this seems to be a con.  If it is not then they should be willing to send out the paperwork without a commitment.  I have worked in fund raising and telemarketing before and have never came across something like this.

Caller claimed to be taking donations for Kid Print program.  That the money was to give kids a video tape to prevent drug abuse.  I told them I had no money and they hung up on me.  I wanted to ask for removal from their list - but no chance.

Just got a call tonight (also TN) around 7:45pm, asking for my boyfriend's mom, Mrs. __________. I asked who was called, as she passed away in November and was making sure it wasn't a family friend who hadn't heard. He just kept asking for Mrs. _________ and after I asked who he was again, and told him she had passed away, he got nasty and said, "Then why do you want to know all her business????" and hung up on me.

From what I read this is a scam. I looked up 2 other numbers because they call around the same time one is allied interstate wich looked like a scam too. I wonder if these are connected since they all started calling the same time and call not soon after the other here are the other numbers;866-720-1469,866-350-8346,800-690-0210,888-313-9904. I just dont answer but its getting annoying im gettin an airhorn tomorrow and blow it in their ear next time they call lol.

After looking on internet, I see a report that almost all of their funds go to salaries.  I decided not to contribute.

I got a call from the Tennessee Police Federation.  He mispronounced my name as well.  I told him I'd sponsor and he sent out information.  I've googled them and they are on the state's charitable list.  However, a disclosure statement on the back of the "receipt," says, "The TPF is a nonprofit organization, but because of its particular tax status, sponsorships are not currently deductible for federal tax purposes."
I think that means they can use the money however they please.

Received call from this number at 10:00am.  Caller said he was with the Tennessee Police Federation raising money for children...blah,blah,blah.  I told the caller that my nephew suffers from autism and his church was having a fundraiser to offset his medical care, therefore any money I donate would be for his medical care. The caller replied "Awwww, is he autistic or is that an excuse? God bless you.", and hung up.  Wish I could have about 5 minutes alone with that caller - just me him and a Taser!

When I called the number back, a recording said "You do not have any credit!" and the call ended.  Yikes!  What does that mean?

I too received a call asking me to support a Youth Camp run by the Tennessee Police Fedreation.  I told him I would not give a credit card number, but if they sent me a statement I would research the TPF and if I could verify their existance and purpose would honor the pledge.

The statement received showed no purpose for the funds, and the internet turned up nothing about the TFP supporting a youth camp.  I did find a report from the state of Tennessee posted Aug 23, 2007 showing that of the $124,579 raised through telemarketing in their 2007 fiscal year, $103,400 went to paying internal salaries.  Only $21,179 actually went to any sort of charitable works.

Received call from this number, answering maching answered and they hung up. We are on the DO NOT CALL list.
When the number was called back there was a recorded message that said: You do not have any credit, good bye".

I got caught.  I recently cancelled my caller ID so now I can't screen my calls.  So when the phone rang yesterday I answered.  The man I believe he said his name was Mike did not really ask for anyone specific but automatically went into a story about the stats of how many kids were caught with drugs and guns in schools.  I replied with "I do not doubt it"  He then went into how they were a nonprofit organization and that the donations would not be tax deducted.  He then asked if he could send me some paperwork for a donation.  I agreed.(Just to get off the phone)  He then began to ask what amount of donation I would be sending in?  I told him...I am not for sure I need to see the packet.  He asked if I could go on and make a $12 donation commitment.  I again said I need to see the paperwork.  He transfered me to a woman who confirmed my address.  What is weird is usually telemarketing people refer to me by my legal first name that I do not use but this Mike person called me by the name I use.  Weird.  After reading all this I am not going to be making a donation.  I am glad this info is up because I came straight to the computer to see if they were a scam.  Thanks

This number is owned by RDA Group.  They do surveys.  Probably political and, if they are, there's nothing you can do about it...political survey calls are exempt from the Federal Do-Not-Call Registry rules.  Just another example of the government screwing with our lives, huh?  I use a little free call-screening program to insert my own "special" messages to these jerks.  It's called "Phone Tray Free" and you can download it free at freewarefiles.com.
