Person called and said they were with Mark & Associates.  Left a file number for me and asked me to call them.

I called toll free information for a listing of Mark & Associates.  This was a real number and associated with a law firm working with Exeter Hospial in NH.

this is a collection agency!!

Real person would not clearly state his name and company and asked for someone in household.

IGnore the false statement regarng "this is a real number."  It is a collection agency and Exeter NH Hospital has been notified!!!!!

How do they get an unlisted number?

This is a bill collector for medical bills.  Markum Associates.  They make it sound like they are from a lawyers office by giving you a file number.

Brian from Markum Associates JUST called me and left yet another voicemail with a 'file' number, regarding some personal business matter of mine? No CLUE what they're talking about and frankly don't care. I've never been to the hospital in NH others have listed here... and certainly don't owe anything to a collections agency. How do I get these people off my back!?

sucks when your insurance company doesn't pay bills like they should when you pay the premium and this is what happens ..

It is located in Somersworth, NH (where I live), and they collect debts for Frisbie Memorial Hospital (which I do in fact owe) and the many family practices and walk-in care facilities with which it is affiliated. It is located in the same building as one of these, Seacoast Redicare, the address of which is 396 High Street, Somersworth, NH 03878.

I have been called every other week or so, but the lady who calls me (I can never remember her name) has always been pleasant.

This number called me. I didn't answer. They didn't leave a message. If it is a debt collector, I'm not sure why they are calling my cell phone, I have no debts to pay.

They could be calling because someone that you knew in the past owes money and they are hoping that you'll provide them with a valid contact number for that person. I get calls from them for my ex from over 25 years ago. What a laugh - like I'm going to pay for his debts.

They are a real company. If they have your number it is because you gave it to the Hospital. They work with all different hospitals over several different states, so if they are calling you and you are in the US, you should be calling them back.

If they are calling for someone that does not live there. Call and let them know. Why waste your time and theirs when it is a wrong number. And if it is your ex? What better way to [***] an ex then give their new phone and address to the collection agency that is trying to reach them!

I know people that work there. If you ignore the call you are an idiot because they can help you when you are having problems with your insurance, and ignoring them can result in credit reporting.

A real company is required to state their name clearly. A real person usually states their name clearly. People that call unlisted numbers are those to whom you gave your number! Collection agencies work with multiple companies, not just one hospital. NEVER IGNORE COLLECTIONS. How are people so stupid they don't know this?

Workers comp should of paid the bill

It is actually Marcam Associates - they do send unpaid balances to collections, but only after first attempting to call patients with balances and set them up with payment plans to help them get their bills paid - and many times find that some balances are covered by insurance plans that were not billed yet.  Most patients are unaware that they can go on a payment plan until a Marcam Patient Accounts Rep calls, and many end up paying off the balances.The are paid by hospitals as third party billers. It's a pretty good company as far as I can see. Marcam is also serious about HIPAA (patient privacy rules) and works to ensure only authorized people (the patient or legally designated representative) is dealt with in any billing issue.
