Got a call from them today.. Just wanted to give people a heads up that Lahey health which is in massachusetts.. is using them as their debt collector.. I only owed $20 .. but the guy was very pleasant

And this is a bad bit of shill work, too.  Anyone who wants a laugh, do a google street view of 36 Industrial Way, Rochester, NH, the "business address of Markem Associates".  It is an empty parking lot.   Real Legit there, "Nicole".  I see the branch manager is Joseph Covey, is that you, posting there Joe/Nicole?  Please tell us all about your "very pleasant" liars.

Keeps calling my house asking for people that don't live here. They say they won't call again but a week later they do again. This has been going on for over a year now. Collection agency harassing people who don't owe them any money.

Just received a call from this number and it came up Marcam Associates.  I answered and it was a recording that stated they were a debt collector and for us to call and number with an extension.  The message doesn't state who they are calling for at our house, so I am suspicious of them.

Legit call, but highly vague.

I have been dealing with Marcam Associates for while, very nice man.

If that were the case, then they would actually say something when I pick up. I answer when they call and it's dead air, and I give them plenty of time to respond before I hang up. I'm not having problems, I owe no medical bills, I don't know how they got my number. Not everyone who ignores collection calls owes money. Some people don't enjoy being harassed.

They sent me a letter in 2017 looking for payment to the Elliot Hospital from 2014 when in fact the Elliot sent me a copy of the bill saying zero balance/paid. When I contacted them they also stated I owed 475.00 from a few months ago because my insurance company refused to pay some of the bill. I contacts BC/BS and they stated that my balance was 175.00 not 475.00. Be careful of these thugs. BC/BS contacted Marcam and informed me that a Tom would be calling me to discuss the matter. NO CALL!! Just as I suspected!!!! HOODLUMS!

If they sent you a letter, then it should have contained this:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt.  It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

In order to protect your rights in the matter, this is what you should have immediately done:

You need to send them a certified, return receipt debt validation (by law they have to go back to the original creditor to prove you owe the debt) letter (think of it as the best $6.59 you ever invested).  Also send it first class mail in case no one will sign for it.  Make a notation of that fact at the bottom of the letter.

The reason for that is this:  
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.  

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are:  http://www.consumerfinance.gov/

This is answer to more than 10 years old post, in 10 years could happen anything and most certainly, KitKat is not waiting here for your answer.

Phone rang shortly after 9 AM.  When answered and said hello several times - no response.  I just hung up!. If this is a collection agency as other have said, I DO NOT owe anyone any money!  Pests!

They work with many hospitals in NH VT MA

This is a legitimate debt collection agency specializing in medical facilities.

I Blocked their number after they repeatedly called me including after 8pm but they called from a different line using a caller Id blocker asking me to call them back

They left a message. They didn't state my name, file #, who they're representing to collect debt. Send me a bill in the mail and maybe I'll listen. I blocked the #, bye bye!

Marcum Associates called regarding a bill my grandson owes.  I told them is wasn't me and it was my grandson.  I do not have a phone number for him, he moved out a year ago.

Picked up heard tying and lots of people talking. After about 40 second a male voice starting asking to speak to the home owner. I sent. Then he asked to speak to Dan said wrong number . Then he went through 3 more names tht wasn't mine. Plus he would give me his name or company name. So hung up and blocked number. Scam calls are way out of hand these days.
