An automated call (supposedly from Capital One) saying my debit card has been blocked due to a account problem.  The funny thing is that I don't have a debit card with Capital One ( I didn't know they even offered one).

you got the call because its a PHISHING SCHEME.

They are looking for people to call them and give personal info,  they don't have a list of current customers at all.  its a robocall

And remember CROOKS do not follow the no ROBOCALL laws, or the DO NOT CALL LAWS, or any other law for that matter!

No, it's not a phishing scheme; the number actually does belong to Capital One. In fact, it spells out 800-655-BANK.

I just checked here, getting a bit worried from the responses, as I received a call from the number earlier. Then I cross-checked with Capital One's website (capitalone.com). Under "contact us," select the option for "Banking/Direct Banking." The list of numbers shows one of the as 800-655-2265.

So, if you got a call from this number, rest assured that it's not a scammer.

    stop complaining
This is a Capital One number. They call to inform you about a problem with a Cap 1 debit card...usually acct was opened and no funds were added. It could be possible that whoever opened the acct put down your number. If you didnt open an acct, I urge you to stop complaining and call to make sure no one opened an acct in your name!!! Don't ignore it bc if it is FRAUD, you will REALLY be complaining about it later. A call takes 5 minutes...clearing up identity theft takes YEARS

They called me and made me take ogg my underpants to verify my Id. I think they were peeking in from the TV. I was afraid to put them back on because it might hurt my credit score. I am very worried.

It is in fact Capital One.  They want to know if you need any help funding your new account or activating your debit card.  If you are getting a call from there, you might want to call back.  It isn't a scam.

I just got a call from this number and a real person from Capital One Bank left me a voicemail. She didn't say what it was regarding, just stated her name and that she was a representative from Capital One Bank. She then stated my name and told me to call her back at my earliest convenience. I have a debit card with Capital One but I am not aware of any problems with it, as I follow my accounts very tightly. I'm not calling back.

Got two calls two days in a row from this number while on vacation. It's Capital One Bank, not a scam. A representative left me a voice mail asking me to call back, no other details. I called back when I got home from vacation. They said they just wanted to ensure I had received my debit card in the mail, as I had just opened a Rewards checking account. They are not trying to sell anything. It's just to ensure that everything is okay and that my debit card did not fall into the wrong hands.

I told them their lack of detail in the voice mail alarmed me and he was very nice and apologized for worrying me, and they said that they don't say details in the voice mail in case it's the wrong number. It makes sense.

I recieved a call as well.

It was Capital One checking on how my accounts were going since I had opened up an additional checking account and had new cards issued. Just making sure I was a happy customer and if I needed any additional services.

I just spoke with someone calling from 800-655-2265 offering me a special offer on my account.  They said they couldnt tell me what the offer was until they looked up my account information.  They then asked for my account number or social security number. I asked if they could verify that they were capital one and they were unable to do that.  They then said that I could go to a local branch office to receive the offer.  I called the capital one number listed on their website and went through the "Report Fraud" department. They informed me that capital one will never do that and it was in fact a suspicious phone call.
